seroquel vs effexor

Hi there, I am on seroquel and effexor, I am also on epilim for my bipolar, for me the combination works really well although my seroquel dose is 50 mg, i think there are two strengths of seroquel. But I find that the combination of seroquel, effexor 150 and epilim 800 after a lot of tweaking, crying, mania, thrashing about finally works. i have noticed though that i have stacked on the weight, but after some research have found that these meds can do that.

My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.

Friend of mine was on Seroquel, and because of the involuntary jaw movements associated with Seroquel, she chipped her bottom front tooth.

Sounds like a plan. You and your doctor may have to work on finding the best balance of medication. Try to be patient, but don't hesitate to let your doctor know if you have any concerns.

I also am bipolar depressive and was on Effexor, which pooped, then Paxil and 600mg Seroquel. I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way.

Hello Everyone! Anyone have positive effects on Seroquel for GAD? I know it's an anti-psychotic for Schizophrenia and BP1 & 2. I have read everything I can find on this drug. I have been given 25mg a night for GAD that has developed over the last 5 months. I have a history of severe depressive episodes and have been on Effexor for yrs (300mg/day). The depression has been held back relatively well but the GAD and some symptoms of depression are creeping in.

I did take Depakoate (Epilim is another name for it) for a while and although it worked on mania it did not work on depression but that's common and probably why you were prescribed venlafaxine (another name for Effexor) which is an anti-depressent. As for paranoia, Seroquel is a very effective antipsychotic (for many people although each person reacts differently to each medication) with mood stabilization properties and while I could tolerate it I found it quite helpful.

I have been on medications for almost 11 years. I have been through so many. and At the present time I am on Effexor xr 150mg, Prozac 40 mg as the Dr. was trying to wean me from 225 of the effexor xr and add the prozac. 1 mg of xanax 4 x’s a day, seroquel 150 mg at night. So this was my new medication line up after switching psych drs. after 10 years. need a new beginning. not feeling good. So this is what she added in. I am a homembody and fear the everyday so it was hard to get to some appts.

Seroquel would not be my first choice to use it's off-label use of antidepressant. Seroquel is a antipsychotic and is very sedative. Please note that I don't now your friend and his medical history and if the treatment is really for depression or something else with depression like bi-polar, in the case the patient is bi-polar it is true that Seroquel is a wiser choice.

im on very high dosages of EFFEXor XR, Seroquel, Remeron,klonnonpin. im waking up in pools of sweat throughtout the night of my always horrible sleep.

I have been on Effexor for over 5 years for depression. ...never quite getting the relief I needed. My Doctor added Seroquel and Tramadol -very low dose- and boom...have never felt better. I have taken this combo for over two years. Some days , I forget the Efexxor 35 mg and those are the only days I feel irritated and bad. I really think I need to get this med out of my system, as it never worked well, and because I take such a low dose now, it prob. is doing nothing.

i take 375mg of effexor and 300mg of seroquel each day and ive noticed the weight gain coz im quite skinny and i dont really eat that much, i get the crazy dreams and nitemares with the effexor ive even been unlucky enough to be 1 of the 1 in 10,000 that gets seizures from taking it, its no fun shoving a load of pills down ur neck every day just so u can be semi normal, i look 4ward to the day i dont have to fight myself just to stay alive, its no way to life your life

I have been having more and more severe anxiety the past few months that last all day long. It interferes with my work, doing day to day tasks etc... My Doc put me on Seroquel in the evening 50mg. Anyone tried this drug? Sorry if this question may have been covered before. Im new lol...

Today, he switched me from Effexor to Celexa, which is good because I was never completely happy with Effexor anyway. However, he said that I can stop the Effexor cold turkey and go straight to the Celexa. Is this correct? I always thought you had to taper off Effexor, and I know how badly it affects me if I even miss a single dose. I took my "last" Effexor today, and am supposed to replace it completely with the Celexa tomorrow. Is that advisable?

those antidepressants are crazy hard to get off of. I managed to get off of effexor, but it was really bad for about 3 weeks. The only thing that helped me was to read about what the withdrawal symptoms entail so I could reassure myself that I wasn't going nuts. I dont know about seraquil, but coming off effexor made me very dizzy and i had brain zaps. Maybe you can also ask your question on the depression forum. Hang in there, it really does end.

i have never taken wellbutrin but my daughter does, i have taken effexor. for me the effexor was terrible, but some people on this site do very well with it. it made me extremly tired, heart palpitations, raised my blood pressure, jaw pain and many other problems. my daughter says the wellbutrin helps her depression but makes her anxiety worse so if you have anxiety you may have to take something for that on top of the wellbutrin. in my opinion, effexor is horrible, i hated it.

I am not at all familiar with seroquel but I would not go any higher on the effexor. You will just have more side effects.

This is my case and it is difficult to understand what I am suffering from most now as the effects of being on effexor are much like a thyroid gone bad. And since I stopped effexor and all antideppresson drugs almost 7 months ago. However now I feel effexor withdrawls are worse. I am aware of this happening and am trying to deal with both problems. Has anyone else felt this same thing and if so how do you deal with it, how do you tell which is which, thyroid or effexor?

put me on Seroquel first and then added Abilify recently (20mg), and it seems to bump up the benefits of Seroquel of which I now take 700mg per day, plus I take Cipralex 30mg (anti-depressant). It seems to be working for me, so far, but as you know its all trial and error. Some people say they gained weight from Abilify, I havent as of yet, but I did gain weight with the Seroquel, but the benefits outweigh the side effects.

Not true that people find Effexor more effective. They all affect each individual differently. Effexor tends to have far more side effects than Zoloft, and is known to be much more difficult to quit. On the other hand, are you sure Zoloft is any safer during pregnancy? Whatever the case, you'll have to taper very carefully off Effexor before you start Zoloft so you can tell which is a side effect of Zoloft and which is a withdrawal effect of Effexor.

Shortly after I started Effexor my doctor also put me on Seroquel. So I have been on these 3 drugs for the past year. Last month my doctor suggested I up my dosage of Effexor from 150mg to 225 mg. I was hesitant about increasing my medication but she seemed to encourage it bc it was the winter months and I was experiencing mild SAD symptoms. After taking 225mg for about 5 days I went back to 150 mg bc I was waking up every morning at 5:30 feeling very jittery.

What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.

I mentioned about switching from Effexor Xr 225mg (which on my own I lowered to 150mg) He said that Effexor XR affects two different areas of the body whereas Zoloft only affects one area. Now he mentioned NOTHING about keep taking the Effexor Xr in lower does while I make hte switch to Zoloft. Am I supposed to just switch right over to Zoloft and discontinue the Effexor Xr??
