seroquel tranquilizer

I feel sedated....drowsy... But not enough to sleep. Smh ....he dosent want to prescribe seroquel cuz it causes weight gain. I feel like I'm in a hopeless situation.

My doctor said, Seroquel "works as a tranquilizer" but "it is NOT a tranquilizer". I take 400 mg of Seroquel, I sleep a lot. My doctor said I can have one cup of cofee to help fight the fatique of Seroquel, but only one cup in the morning. Some days, I have some energy, but a lot of times I am just wiped out and exhausted.

Let me assure you I never used horse tranquilizer to go to sleep but I will If I don't get better meds soon. I tried natural stuffs (herbal teas, relaxation, melatonin), I tried the OTC sleep aids and I've been prescribed seroquel (quetiapine), desyrel (trazodone) and recently imovane (zopiclone). I had a pretty severe rapid cycle last weekend and ended up at the hospital, they gave me Lorazepam and i was given 21 more by my gp. Thing is i thought you only take it if you are climbing high not going low. If you have read my posts I have repeadedly given credit to Seroquel for making my WD tolerable because of its sedative effect at low doses. I know very little about this drug. If I've influenced anyone to obtain this drug that is not my intention. I can tell you your head gets very foggy, and DO NOT think that you will be able to drive a car safely. I get angry very easly, and I yell.....Since seeing this Doctor-once- He gave me the starter packet for Seroquel, 50mg,100mg,200mg,300mgs....told me to take at bedtime and to call him on the 5th day, to let him know which one I did ok on...well the only one I had a problem with was the 200-I didn't go to bed within an hour and I felt as it I was gonna pass out....anyways, so I take the 300 thinking that this is fine, I felt ok the next day, not drugged up....

Is there a safe and effective tranquilizer to take for flight anxiety? I tried the generic brand of xanax (alprazelam) a few years ago and it had absolutely zero effect. Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.

My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...

If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
