Her psych doctor said it was probably the Seroquel. (IS Saphris a good substitute?). My mother takes Seroquel for dementia.

I guess I disagree with some of the comments above. While Valerian Root or Passion Flower can't substitute for things like Seroquel, they can be taken in conjunction and you'll end up taking less of the anti-psychotic, or sleep medication, and feel clearer headed.

Go to the medication website and go to the section of the information about Seroquel that is meant for physicians. That would of course not in any manner substitute for a psychiatrist's advice but it would give you the full information. Seroquel can be used as an adjunct antipsychotic but I believe for its standard use as an antipsychotic and mood stabilizer the starting effective dose is 300 mg.

Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. (depakote, lithium, tegretol) are the three classical musketeers to deal especially with mania/hypomania although supposidely they are called mood stabilizers. So if your pdoc advised you with it, it means you need it. i wouldn't stop it unless i substitute it for another MS. some pdocs use instead antipsychotics like zyprexa, seroquel or risperidone to handle mania, while the 1st is a strong MS, the 2nd works as monotherapy, got AD properties in it and is a strong antimanic.

Im taking seroquel (quatiapine ) and Sertraline ( serenata ) that prescribed by my doc. can you please give me some additional advices on how to control my self from pullling out a hair. seriously is not that easy to control or stop your hands from pulling a hair.

I have to go on the LID for 4-5 weeks and have been searching for an allowable milk substitute. Does anyone have any coments about Rich's Non-dairy creamer? I was hopeful about a coconut milk I found in a carton in the refrigerated section but turns out is has carageenan in it. I put sour cream, ranch dressing or have milk all the time with my foods since I am "saliva challenged" after my radiation treatments.

Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?

Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!

I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.

I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.

Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.

My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...

If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
