Seroquel (quetiapine) is an anti-psychotic medication that originally was approved for use on Schizophrenia but has shown to work for both Bipolar-Manic episode and Bipolar-Depressive episodes. It is quickly becoming a very common prescribed medication for those with Bipolar. With this medication now becoming a common and approved use I was recommending that it be added on it's own.

I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.

Recently I was given Seroquel to help me against waking in the night at 2 am with the terrors. I made an acquaintance on the train one day. He was a psych nurse and told me to try horlicks as the thing waking me would be reflux. Horlicks is a malt based drink that you make with warm milk. In Austrlalia it is considered very daggy and 'Take a Horlicks!!' is a jokey way to tell someone to calm down. It has been under my nose all my life and even treated as a joke but it works.

I had problems sleeping and my pdoc put me on ambien, then lunesta then to valium which none worked so now he put me on 50mg of seroquel this made me sleep and then some. I am feeling like I am drugged and scared to take the next dose and scared not to as well. My pdoc is new to me and never gave an emergency number, he will not be back in his office till tuesday and also this coupled with my lexapro put me in a mixed state and feeling slighty suicidal this happens when I cycle rapidly.

I have been recently diagnosed as Bipolar II although i already had one episode of hypomania about 4 years ago, although my psychiatrist was reluctant to give me a diagnosis because i was using a lot of class As especially uppers like MDMA and Coke. I am now not taking street drugs very often and have had my diagnosis.

I accidentally took a seroquel after having been stabilized for some time with no symptomatology . I had awful hallucinations until I began accustomed to this drug. In your opinion should you have gone to the hospital. I thought I was taking one of the drugs that I am currently prescribed for a manic (late age onset) episode.

Just wondering.....when my husband was heavily addicted to percocets, oxys and valium, he had little or no sex drive....but it took about 2 years to get to that point. ( 60 percocets, 300mg oxy, 200mg valium daily...approx ) When he got onto the suboxone about 5 weeks ago, his libido came back with a vengeance. Now he's on 12 mg of sub, about 20 mg of klonopin, and 75 mg of seroquel. Can someone please tell me what this combination of drugs does to a person's sex drive?

It put me into a 1 1/2 year manic episode and I started an affair, abused drugs and then the affair ended and I ended up with a restraining order on me and then arrested (really long story) - After the affair ended, I put myself in a psych ward on a 5150. They then diagnosed me as being bipolar and put me on Seroquel. Seroquel made me feel better but I put on a lot of weight. So I went off of the seroquel and am now on NOTHING.

This whole doctors thing is very new to me, I've always taken care of myself and done pretty well, I think, considering what I had to work with. I sure do wish you the best of luck in figuring out exactly what you need and getting to it..

right now would be a great time for ANYONE with a success story about having healthy babies while on drugs like Seroquel, parnate, or drugs related to depression and anxiety etc....No one has expressed concern about babies health in this regard (and I am seeing a psych nurse and psychiatrist too as well as an OBGYN) so far but you just never know and I need to have some examples of how babies are healthy despite the drugs I have no choice to take...

I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.

Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?

Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?

I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!

I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.

Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.

My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...

If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.

My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?

the doctor put my husband on seroquel for anxiety. i was on them last year from my psychiatrist for sleep. of course i can't gauge how they worked because i was just adding them to the stew as it were. his are extended release. mine were not. the doctor gave him samples to last 1 month. he seems to be doing well on them, but i know my husband. these are going to be expensive even with insurance.
