Seroquel side effects vision

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel side effects vision

seroquel

Most of the side effects are common to the drug type and Seroquel has less it seems than some like Risperdal and Geodon to name but 2 with bad reps for side effects. All in all it works wonders for me, I feel normal and the side effects are not serious and come and go, I take it with Lithium and Abilify and it seems to work well, just make sure you read the information statement - you can find one here : http://www.drugs.com/seroquel.html Hope that helps in some way.
I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.
thus I am currently @ 100mg per day.
I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
After I have been awake for a while they have slowly went away I am still a tiny bit dizzy, and drowsy still after 2 cups of coffee I just feel like I am not waking up still feel half asleep. Does anyone know if these side effects are serious or if it is something that will go away as I get use to the medication. I know I should be asking my doctor these questions but it is the weekend and my doctor is not in his office until Monday.
Hi... I am a 21 yr old female. I have been on seroquel for over 4 years to treat for a bipolar disorder. I decided in January to wean myself off the medication due to the abnormal re-occuring side affects.
So i go get my meds refilled and the pharmacist tells me that I should be careful of Seroquel because it has been known to cause vision problems (reduced vision, etc) if taken over a long period of time. I asked him what a long period of time was and he told me 1 year. Is anyone else on Seroquel and been told the same thing?
Right now I'm not on anything and if possible do not plan on taking anything for depression , most of these drugs do not agree with me and cause major side effects and withdrawal. But that's just for me, I know these drugs can be life saving. I was on Prozac for years, but came off because of the sexual side effects. What a mistake, that was the least of my side effects compared to this!! Good Luck to all, and Happy Thanksgiving!
As for side effect pills for temporary movement disorders (extra-pyramidal side effects or e.p.s. as they are called) such as akathesia or dystonia or what you describe as restless legs syndrome, there are generally three classes of medications. And all of them work on slightly different movements as well. The most commonly used are the anti-cholinergics such as Cogentin and Artane. They are effective and the side effects are the usual blurred vision and dry mouth.
My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. One of his eyes has gotten so bad that he may have to get a cornea transplant. I cannot say for sure if the meds caused his eye problems, but he had perfect vision all during school and according to my research seroquel has been know to cause lens problems in the eyes.
My question is, are the symptoms I experience side effects of Depakote or withdrawal from Xanax???? Please help me!!!!! I am sttill taking .5 Xanax Xr in the mn and .5 in the evening so it is still there, I've just reduced the dosage!!! I also take small dosage of 600mg lithium, 25mg of lamictal and 2.5mg o Lexapro a day. Most of them my pdoc wants to get rid off. Thanks!!
fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats; jerky muscle movements you cannot control; sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body; sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; increased thirst, frequent urination, excessive hunger, or weakness; feeling like you might pass out; or urinating less than usual or not at al
The only reason I am able to take the drugs I am on - Lithium and Seroquel - is because they come in extended release and this cuts down on the side effects. I take them at night so I sleep through the initial sedation. And I do do my part. I exercise, I do yoga, I don't drink or use drugs, I go to therapy, I keep to my sleep schedule, I take my meds, I make my appts, I am educated on my disorder, I have insight into my cycles and monitor my moods.
ONE important thing to remember that I learned, and have never forgotten is that these two effects CANNOT exist without anxiety.....but that anxiety can exist without these sensations. Derealization is basically a change, an alteration in the PERCEPTION or experience of the external world....in other words...everything LOOKS very strange, very "unreal" (movie like, in my experiences). Depersonalization is a subjective experience of unreality of one's self. So the difference is...
Really, all they can offer for any immediate relief is adding another medication, which I don't want, because the only ones that can be offered cause make me too drowsy and give me double vision and poor balance so bad that I can't drive. Guess I just have to live with this rapid cycling ****.
You might also note that Abilify can also be used to treat depression, whereas Seroquel is not normally prescribed for that disorder. Less serious side effects of Seroquel may include: dizziness, drowsiness, or weakness; dry mouth, runny nose, sore throat; nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation; blurred vision, headache, anxiety, agitation; breast swelling or discharge; missed menstrual periods; or weight gain.
Seroquel is one of the most sedating antipsychotic out there so yes the most reported side-effect is ''weird dream like state and a zombie''. About the Zoloft, yes indeed everyone can react differently to drugs, side effects vary from person to person. It's normal at first to have side-effects that might be overwhelming at first but those tend to disappear once the therapeutic lag is gone or after the first week. There's is one thing I don't understand.
I diagnosed me with Rapid Cycling Bipolar, and Anxiety with dilusions. He put me on Geodon. What side effects should I expect? Tonight I felt dizzy, blurring vision, and sleepiness.
The PDR lists blurry vision as one of the side effects of almost every medication in that reference. Progressive myopia is usually an inherited condition, but can also be caused by diabetes and nuclear cataracts. I would see an ophthalmologist for a complete exam. You need treatment for the glaucoma to prevent permanent loss of vision, so do not neglect this.
Well, I am no doctor, but it does not take a genius to figure out that when all of these side effects happen within weeks of starting this medication, that the medication is the cause. Over the years I have had a horrible time trying to lose weight. I am usually very skinny and I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and nothing has worked!
My thoughts regarding the visual problems are that they could be due to the meds (plus side-effects/ withdrawals, etc), migraines or just plain anxiety. Anxiety can often present with blurry vision. It is very frightening through which can then make the situation worse. Hyperventilating can also affect vision. Make sure you take plenty of long, slow, deep breathes. Just wondering if klonopin may be a good option to help you through the withdrawals, etc.
It is a good combination for me. Didn't get any side effects with the Lamictal. With Geodone I have a few side effects. One side effect is I lost a lot of weight. Which was good to begin with as I was a size 12 going on to 14 but I am now a size six. I really have to watch that I don't lose anymore weight. I'd like to gain some muscle tone too. I also have some agitation, or it increased what was already there. I alway fidgited now I do it more.
Check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome: Clumsiness or unsteadiness; dizziness or lightheadedness; drowsiness; slurred speech Less Common Side Effects: Check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome: Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain; blurred vision or other changes in vision; changes in sexual desire or ability; constipation; diarrhea; dryness of mouth or increased thirst; false sense of well-being;
Important information about Seroquel Seroquel is not for use in psychotic conditions related to dementia. Seroquel may cause heart failure, sudden death, or pneumonia in older adults with dementia-related conditions.
I cannot stay at 5mg or above as i have terrible side effects, not seeing dr till monday, I want to feel better...should I up my dose ?? I need help, Im so sad now , i upped my dose to 3mg today and am not doing well at all, just blah, headachy crying, fatigued....
and I am still trying to get over the withdrawl symptoms it has taken weeks. Your psych doc is right, the w/d and side effects were so severe for me I started investigating the med and found most people could not sleep. Sorry, I can't be more helpful. I hope you start feeling better.
I did check the side effects before taking it. I am concerned about the safety of me taking it due to the intensity of asleep (and irritable/ angriness just before asleep) i get from it. Another side effect is akasthisia, which is what the other antipsychotic induced in me when I was not on wellbutrin or adderal. Abilify seems to induce a mild form of that as it takes effect just before I pass out.
how long have been taking the seroquel?? here are the side effects of seroquel: Constipation, drowsiness, upset stomach, tiredness, weight gain, blurred vision, or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor promptly. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur, especially when you first start or increase your dose of this drug. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
I was doing great for 3 years on Seroquel and Lithium. I moved. I lost weight. I started getting a side effects from the Seroquel that were very uncomfortable, racing and pounding heart rate. Because I'd been stable for so long, my new pdoc decided I didn't need to be on the Seroquel anymore. When it was decreased, my moods went up and down out of control mixed episode crazy. They are more stable now that I am back on the higher Seroquel dose.
This time about a woman on Topamax for 7 days who seemed to have lost almost all her vision 12 hours after increasing her dose per her doctor's instructions. Some quick thinking sparked me to ask if she could see up close and lo and behold while she was blind as a bat in the distance, she could see the tiniest print about 6 inches in front of her nose. She had developed an acute myopic shift from a choroidal effusion which pushed the lens/iris diaphram forward.
