I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. I have the exact same side effect to seroquel, the crawling skin, tight tension movement, and I feel like I’m gong to pass out. These type of side effects are often worse in the beginning but often improve over time. Make sure to inform your psychiatrist about this and they can tell you how to proceed. Part of it may be the interactions between the various medications. Are they in the process of transferring you from one medication to another? Lamictal requires a very slow titration rate but only a psychiatrist would understand the clinical specifics and how they apply.

I have found Seraquel to be very beneficial although I don't know how. I sleep if I have it before 6 pm which helps my BP that suffers from insomnia. But aside from that I only know that something is working. The last few months would have been very difficult as I lost my mum-in-law whom I was very close to and my sister went away as an aid worker overseas for 6 months. After I have been awake for a while they have slowly went away I am still a tiny bit dizzy, and drowsy still after 2 cups of coffee I just feel like I am not waking up still feel half asleep. Does anyone know if these side effects are serious or if it is something that will go away as I get use to the medication. I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. I started on Abilify for my Bi Polar 2 weeks ago. After 2 days I had to halve the dose, as the side effects were so debilatating (?), but the side effects are still horrendous. Ok so I told my psychiatrist everything that came to my mind yesterday, so most of what's been troubling and how my episodes have been and how long they've been lasting and how severe they are or aren't. She said it sounded like I had rapid cycling, asked me how my low and high I was getting and just kept repeating that they get "severe". I thought I was getting better so surprise surprise for me!

One of the unfortunate side effects of seroquel is tardive dyskinesia, a less rare but possible with prozac. From what i've read and seen on youtube, it results in all over muscle spasms and shakes. I have read it can be pemanent, it's not one of those side effects that go away after one stops seroquel.

Yes I did experience agitation at higher doses of Seroquel and that is a potential side effect but each person responds differently.However that is a very low dose of Seroquel so that should be less of a concern. Also sometimes when antipsychotics cause temporary movement disorders such as akathesia that create motor restlessness that can create feelings of agitation and that can be treated with a side effect pill within your psychiatrist's discretion.

I've been on Depakote and Seroquel for bipolar and not improving much, so today the doc took the depakote away and is starting me on Lamictal. Can anyone share your experiences with it? He told me it should not give me the weight gain or fatigue, and the only thing I need to watch for is if a rash develops on my body to let him know immediately, as it could be serious enough to land me in the hospital. s unlikely you have tardive dyskenisia (TD) from your Seroquel use as it usually results from long term use. Seroquel does not cause blepharospasms, but benzodiazepine withdrawal can. Dry eye can also cause blepharospasms. Blepharospasms are not necessarily permanent, but they can be. Some people will have it resolve after a few days to a week. If it persists, there are some treatments that you could talk to your doctor about, such as botox.

I'm no dr but I was on depakote for over a year. I gained 60 lbs and lost a lot of sexual ability. I forced my dr to give me something that would work as well but without so many bad side effects. He put me on a few different things but I only stuck with what worked. I ended up getting diabetes & high BP from the meds I took but the relief was almost worth it. ALL psychotropic drugs have side effects but it's a matter of do the pros outweigh the cons.
