seroquel side effects panic attacks

My psych recommended I switch to Seroquel XR because she thought it would lessen the panic attacks, and in the same breath said that Seroquel doesn't cause panic attacks. Well, I've been on XR for about half a year and I have a low level of panic almost constantly. At times it explodes into a full-on panic attack as it's doing now. My psych won't listen to me and says it's impossible for Seroquel to cause such a reaction.

It is only a matter of time before they find themselves with a class action lawsuit. This drug causes serious side effects and puts the users life in danger.

I thought I remember a while back someone posted that they were doing OK on Lamictal but when the doc increased the dosage, the person started having anxiety attacks. Is that true? I recently went up to 200mg/day and I've started having anxiety and now wondering if I should ask the doc to decrease the dosage. He also discontinued the Seroquel but now I'm having major depressive episodes.

rapid heart rate, hard to breath, stiffness is neck and back, respiratory infection it feels like coming on. As far as I read these can be serious side effects. I talked to two people at pdoc's office and they said I specifically need to talk to my pdoc. well she was sapozed to call today and didn't. I go back Thursday anyway but are these not serious side effects. p.s. anxiety is worse now also.

After I have been awake for a while they have slowly went away I am still a tiny bit dizzy, and drowsy still after 2 cups of coffee I just feel like I am not waking up still feel half asleep. Does anyone know if these side effects are serious or if it is something that will go away as I get use to the medication. I know I should be asking my doctor these questions but it is the weekend and my doctor is not in his office until Monday.

My husband - also bipolar - takes Seroquel too. He started on Abilify, had bad side effects, and was switched to Seroquel. He loves it. Good luck in your research and in finding the right cocktail.

Was your doctor suggesting you try it to help with anxiety? Personally, I have not heard of it being used for that as there are much more effective medications out there for anxiety. Also Seroquel can actually cause anxiety and panic attacks! I hope that your doctor asked you many more questions to determine if you had bipolar disorder than just about racing thoughts. Bipolar disorder cannot and should not be diagnosed only on the basis of that.

OK, I'm a tad confused here, so bear with me. Did you have a problem with anxiety BEFORE you saw the doctor about what I'm assuming was some sort of stomach trouble? And now, since you saw this doctor two weeks ago, you've had an on-going panic attack? Correct me if I have anything wrong here. Your doc put you on quetiapine (Seroquel) which is an antipsychotic. You said it knocked you out the first night, but now you need "lots more" to fall asleep.

I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way. I've always had it, I'll live with it. Unfortunately, I'm still 170 pounds.

I just started on Seroquel XR for Panic Disorder, what's the difference between XR and normal seroquel? I suppose it will help with my Borderline Personality Disorder/Chronic Depression aswell, considering it is prescribed mostly for Bipolar, and Bipolar and BPD run on par with each other. I have been on nearly every med known to man for panic disorder/depression/sleep since I was 12 and I'm only 18.

For the first 2 months of treatment I suffered with panic attacks almost daily. For the remaining 5 months they seemed to be under control. Now, I have 10 days left in my treatment and they are back daily. Anyone else suffer with these crummy things on the last leg of treatment?

It is severe anxiety and this is the only reason I take this drug. The anxiety currently outweighs the concerns of the side effects of the Seroquel (and there are many side effects). This drug is a strong atypical anti-psychotic. It is usually used for BP1&2, and Schizophrenia symptoms. I am not a doc but I do not understand why a doc is prescribing this for a sleep aid. Also I have been on this for 1.5 weeks...the sedative effect is already wearing off in the evening...

I have had anxiety and panic attacks since I was a child. It became severe in my early 20's and I was diagnosed with PTSD. I was treated with CBT which was successful for a few years. It became severe again in my early 30's and I was given clonazapam and Paxil (20mg). The first few years were fantastic and I quit avoiding many situations. I increased the Paxil to 30 mg about 4 years into the medicationas it did not seem to work well.

I did gain 70 lbs in a year and there were extreme sexual side effects. I was willing to put up with the side effects from both of these meds because I was able to get completely off of Xanax, they helped my anxiety and they helped my depression. Paxil stopped working around the 7 year mark too. So then I was put on Lexapro. It made me feel like a zombie with no feelings at all. I haven't been on an antidepressants for a long time. I was on Xanax for panic attacks.

I have to take clonazepam to prevent panic attacks and ativan to stop the panic attacks. I know what you mean when you say your brain chemistry is screwed up, I am an identical twin and she is just like me...its in the genes. I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. I have SEVERE anxiety and panic attacks. It's genetic. I'm 5 weeks pregnant on Lexapro and Hydroxyzine. I'm only taking the hydroxyzine as needed. (3 times a week) at 25mg. My problem is that I have been having panic attacks since I was about 13. At age 14 I was put on medication (Adderall XR 30's) for ADD. Even though the medication helped me greatly in school, the panic attacks became more frequent and more aggressive. Hey I just found out that I am pregnant.and I have depression anxiety and panic attacks.atfer first child, .found out that I have depression and a hard time sleeping . So they put me on a medication they put me on Seroquel.I've been on Seroquel for 7 years . Since I found out I'm pregnant they don't want me taking seroquel for depression and anxiety and panic attacks and it help me sleep.

They can be used to control panic attacks......for what reason were they prescribed to you? If for panic attacks, and they're not controlling them, call your doctor and let him/her know. Take care.

I have had panic attacks scene 2011, I take 0.25mg xanx and here recently when I have a severe attack my body tingles all over then my vision goes black.. is this do to the attack or could something else be going on???

I tried several meds for my severe panic attacks--my panic attacks lasted months with heart racing constantly--this happened 2 years ago and after several meds the only one that took the racing away was Zoloft. I just went up to 200mg this week and I'm so scared of whats going to happen when it stops working. I hope it works for you too. Wish you good luck and know that I understand your pain.
