Everyone reacts to medication differently. A medication that might work for me might be disastrous for you. You might have started at too high of a dose or increased your dose too fast, you might be on too high of a dose for your body or it might just simply be the wrong medication for you. My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.

IMOVANE (14mg) for the past 3 months or so IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS i have been experiencing the following symptoms (and in a very serious way) * fatigue * nausea * Shaking/ tremor (BAD) * reflux * Night sweats * vivid dreams * decreased appetite * anxiety ++ * no interest in sex at all * stiff muscles I have to take the cymbalta but want to wein myself off the others- is there any explaination as to why im feeling these side effects?? what is the rang between bipolarism and schizophrenia. Usually bipolarism 15 and schizophrenia is 45mg.

All of them give me side effects but the Geodone (Zeldox here in Canada) has the least side effects of the bunch so I take it. Risperadol made me lactate - that was a deal breaker. lol. My combo is trazodone, lamotrigine, and Geodone (Zeldox). It took me a loooong time to get to the point of stability. Unless you've been through the whole list of antipsychotics I'd keep trying to see if something works better than seroquel.

My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. One of his eyes has gotten so bad that he may have to get a cornea transplant. I cannot say for sure if the meds caused his eye problems, but he had perfect vision all during school and according to my research seroquel has been know to cause lens problems in the eyes.

When a person starts a medication often the side effects are at their worst at first and a person is better able to tolerate the medication over time. However you should let your psychiatrist know about these side effects. Nausea could potentially be prevented by taking a medication with food if your psychiatrist says that would work out.

Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication. Yes, in most people it does make them very sleepy. 14 hours a night not abnormal for someone taking Seroquel if they are sensitive to it or new to the drug. May I suggest asking your P-doc about Seroquel XR. It is an extended release formula of the drug and should be easier for you to tolerate. Many people report that after switching to the XR formula that they can take it during the day once they get used to the drug.

I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. These type of side effects are often worse in the beginning but often improve over time. Make sure to inform your psychiatrist about this and they can tell you how to proceed. Part of it may be the interactions between the various medications. Are they in the process of transferring you from one medication to another? Did your Psychiatrist warn you about any possible side effects beforehand? This is something any Psychiatrist should do, if not, be sure to ask! Or if you don't have any attachment to this particular one, and aren't against finding a new one, it is another option. Remember, you're the customer! Are you seeing any progress with the Seroquel? If you're not, ask your Psychiatrist if you can't try something else.

Medications have standard side effects and of course there are ones that are less common. Seroquel can cause agitation as an uncommon side effect. I was able to tolerate Seroquel (although I did encounter sedation but I divided it into two doses and slept through the morning dose).

I started on Abilify for my Bi Polar 2 weeks ago. After 2 days I had to halve the dose, as the side effects were so debilatating (?), but the side effects are still horrendous. While not as common as the other side-effects I listed above, involuntary jaw movements can occur causing chipped teeth. Best of luck in your decision.

I had to change so much due to side effects and now the medication I am on now more bad side effects. I hope someday they can come up with some better medications with less side effects. Good luck to you though hope they get you on something that works for you without making you a robot.

Hi guys!! Well my doctor said I was resistant to medication since i've tried effexor and sertraline. I found that while on them, my symptoms got worse. For instance, I have trouble sleeping due to anxiety and it just made that worse. When I stopped taking them and just taking Seroquel, I am able to sleep better than i've ever slept my entire life. (When taking Seroquel with sertraline, I still couldn't sleep and was very irritable).

I lack motivation to do even the most basic things, and I have other side effects. My pdoc believes that this lack of motivation etc is depression, which I'm sure it is but he wants me to increase the seroquel substantially as he believes that it will help. I am worried that this will will make matters worse as I sometimes can't make it out of bed as it is, and am struggling to function.

Of course you need to take medication but if Seroquel is the only antipsychotic or among the ones that can cause cataracts its worth asking about changing to another antipsychotic. They work in a very similar fashion and it doesn't mean another wouldn't help in the same way and there are many options.

Yes I did experience agitation at higher doses of Seroquel and that is a potential side effect but each person responds differently.However that is a very low dose of Seroquel so that should be less of a concern. Also sometimes when antipsychotics cause temporary movement disorders such as akathesia that create motor restlessness that can create feelings of agitation and that can be treated with a side effect pill within your psychiatrist's discretion.
