Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I am on my second pregnancy (33 weeks). I am on seroquel low dose for very bad insomnia. I've used it all along. My first pregnancy i did bot use it and my daughter is very smart. I was wondering if any of you have used seroquel and delivered a healthy baby.
459981 tn?1212193981 so i was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder a little over a month ago and have been taking seroquel which made me worse than ever and it has been my family doctors recomendation to fire the psychiatrist and stop taking the seroquel and get back on an ssri medication. has anyone had this happen? my psychiatrist seemed very uneducated but most importantly would not listen to me about how this medication was affecting my body and just kept telling me to take more and more... Im confused.
459981 tn?1212193981 so ive been on seroquel for only like a week now. 25 mg and my ob doc called today and said she does not want me on this med. Im so confused. her reasoning makes sense though. having been my ob and family practitioner for 2 years she knows that normally durring my pregnancy i am very level and have never shown any signs of hypomania. So her thoughts are that i should be re evaluated after my pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I have cronic insomnia and my phychiatrist put me on seroquel for this pregnancy. I am 33 weeks and have been using seroquel during the whole pregnancy. I am extremely nervous if I am doing any harm to my little new baby girl. I am having panic attacks this week just thinking about it. I just hope for the best to all our babies.
Avatar f tn 1st I will start off by saying Seroquel is pretty safe to take during pregnancy, ive seen a lot of woman take it throughout their pregnancy and the baby was perfectly normal.
Avatar f tn I believe that means it is possible for it to have negative effects on the pregnancy. I was also on hydroxizine and seroquel. I stopped taking mine over a month ago as we had decided to try for one more baby and I was afraid of the possible effects. I have 3 kids but wasn't on any of these meds before or during those pregnancies. Not only that but seroquel can prevent pregnancy. I'd definitely talk with your Dr's about it ASAP. Best wishes for you and your little one!
459981 tn?1212193981 Oh, I just read that you are pregnant, congrats!! Seroquel is the only drug proven safe for pregnancy, so stick with it and give it a try. It will sedate you for awile. I hated that. I could not move though, when I took it.
Avatar f tn Seroquel is a pregnancy category C drug, which means several things. Category C drugs have only been studied in animal models, and showed evidence of birth defects and other problems, but there is no data on whether these affect humans. This also means that your doctor could keep you on it if he/she thought the benefits outweighed the risks.
981372 tn?1248546678 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uses a category system to classify the possible risks to a fetus when a specific medicine is taken during pregnancy. Pregnancy Category C is given to medicines that have not been studied in pregnant humans but that do appear to cause harm to the fetus in animal studies. Also, medicines that have not been studied in any pregnant women or animals are automatically given a pregnancy Category C rating" you shouldnt be on medications if you can.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if this is because of the pregnancy or am I having my symptoms return? Anyone else Going through the same thing?
Avatar n tn However, due to the nature of their disorder---- the risks outweigh the benefits of treating with medication during pregnancy. Seroquel is one that is used because its indications are for those that suffer disorders that are considered severe. Usually a lower dose is given. But doctors do a risk/benefit ratio and make the decisions after that. I would say any number of reasons contribute to bad behavior in our kids.
Avatar f tn I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.
665370 tn?1237084366 Speaking from personal experience, and that of the professionals I sought consultation with, I would definitely AVOID pregnancy on these sorts of drugs. There are just not enough studies out there to determine the potential effects of these medications on the development of the fetus. The first six weeks of fetal organ production are extrememly important, and the teratogenicity of the drugs can have a major impact on that development.
1399124 tn?1401020004 I took Seroquel at the beginning of my pregnancy and my baby boy, now almost 7 months old, is perfectly normal. I had started it a few months before getting pregnant for depression because I had troubles getting over my last miscarriage. My MD had told me it was OK to take it while trying to get pregnant. When I discovered I was pregnant I called a baby hotline in my state and they told me Seroquel was OK.
659397 tn?1279413967 I am Bipolar and was taking quetiapine (seroquel) for the last few years on and off. I have been in and out of hospital a few times over the last 10 years and fought like mad to convince doctors and family that there was nothing wrong with me but every three or so years I seem to slip into a worrying state. I have been with my partner for just over 2 years and he knows i am bipolar but has not really witnessed me at my worst.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
Avatar f tn I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.
563541 tn?1257877567 My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...
