Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel liver

seroquel

Avatar n tn I wanted to ask, if I were to drink heavily (six pack) once a week, would this affect my liver functioning due to these medications, specifically Seroquel? I used to drink more, but cut it back to only once a day last few months. Last liver test was alright, but bilirubin levels were high normal. thank you.
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL XR is not approved to treat depression; however, SEROQUEL is approved to treat bipolar depression. SEROQUEL and SEROQUEL XR are not approved for patients under the age of 18 years. The most common side effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, sedation, dizziness, high blood sugar, weakness, constipation, abdominal pain, sudden drop in blood pressure upon standing, sore throat, weight gain, abnormal liver tests, upset stomach, and sluggishness. Sounds kinda nasty to me.....
420308 tn?1203041262 5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .5 mg of Xanax ER as needed. I feel better than I ever had in my life, but the only problem I have now is excessive weight gain--about 30 lbs. I am currently 5'7 and 188 lbs. I want to get my weight down to 160 lbs. As a New Year's resolution I have been working out between 30-60 minutes 5 days a week combining cardio and weight training.
Avatar m tn Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been on Seroquel XR he added this today with my Cymbalta....Not sure I am going to take it after the weight gain side effect..........any info or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn How safe is 200 milligrams of seroquel while pregnant and nursing? Also, is it dangerous to cut the pills in half to take a lesser dose? Or should you cut or break the pills at all?
Avatar n tn I was on 600-900MG of Seroquel for at least 5 years. I contacted my psychiatrist about stopping the medication when I realized it had been prescribed for a condition I do not have. My doctor was not open to this conversation and I unwisely decided to stop on my own. I did a fair amount of research prior to my titration and even went so far as to map out my titration schedule on a calendar. My main withdrawal concerns were anxiety, rapid heart beat and insomnia.
Avatar f tn My sister had liver transplant one week ago today. She's hallucinating and delusional 24/7 for 6 days. She's not slept at all post surgery. They've given her given her many different things to make her sleep but no sleep to be had. Also her white blood cell count continues to rise, 12.5 to 16.2 overnight. Urine test show no infection. No fever. CT shows brain is fine. The doctors keep telling us this is normal but nurses say they've never seen anything like this.
Avatar m tn You are much more likely to have the treatment cause other adverse events that could lead to further damage of your liver or liver failure. I don’t know of any doctor that would believe the risk is worth the effort. Then again I only have the information you posted which is minimal. Unfortunately, you are like the vast majority of patients with advanced cirrhosis. Caught between a rock and a hard place.
Avatar f tn Not in massive quantities. Just in the same amount I always have (prior to seroquel). Well, for the most part anyway. I made a chocolate cake the other day because I love baking, but not actually eating what I bake because usually after I'm done baking I'm so sick of whatever I was making that I don't want to eat any of it, but I ended up eating the ENTIRE THING. My husband was impressed. He didn't think I had that in me. I didn't think I had that in me!
Avatar n tn The only herb that comes to mind that you want to make a point of staying away from is St. John's Wart. This herb has the ability to raise the risk of serotonin syndrome. Aside from that make sure that any herb you take does not have a slowing or increasing effect on the CYP450-3A4 pathway in the liver. I don't expect you to know what that entails but ask your doctor or Google any vitamin or herb you want to take to see how the body processes and clears it.
Avatar f tn I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
Avatar f tn I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.
563541 tn?1257877567 My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...
Avatar m tn If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?
736475 tn?1281259327 the doctor put my husband on seroquel for anxiety. i was on them last year from my psychiatrist for sleep. of course i can't gauge how they worked because i was just adding them to the stew as it were. his are extended release. mine were not. the doctor gave him samples to last 1 month. he seems to be doing well on them, but i know my husband. these are going to be expensive even with insurance.
1168718 tn?1464983535 hi everyone, was just wondering if you guys have had any trouble with Seroquel? I am being put on it for sleep, and I have read up on it, and the side effects are kinda scarey. Does anyone have any input? My Dr. is putting me on a very tiny dose to start, as I reacted to Nortriptyline and have been on nothing for sleep for 3 days now. Can anyone give me some help please??
