seroquel

518117 tn?1429276273 It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now. He has gained a lot of weight on it.
563541 tn?1257877567 Hi sweetheart! I do not know anything about the drug, but I wanted to let you know that you have been in my prayers and thoughts. You are such a sweetheart and I love you! I hope you are doing better every day!
Avatar f tn all drugs have side effects. did you read the patient information sheet provided with your script? odds are under side-effects, it would have been listed. are you still taking it? i would think it's time to stop if you think it's causing these problems. no drug is without SEVERE side-effects. aspirin can and DOES cause ulcers....tylenol can and DOES cause liver damage....tricyclics can and DO cause tardive dyskensia...it isn't candy.
Avatar f tn i am currently taking 80mg beta blockers, 30mg remeron and 100mg seroquel. they are all very sedating (although i hav problems sleeping also). i am in my final year of college and need to be alert but i find it impossible to get up in the mornings and concentrate on studying. i cut out the seroquel for 2 days and i was overcome with anxiety. my stomach was filled with butterflies and it was churning. i couldnt study which made me panic.. so clearly i need the seroquel.
1115572 tn?1258804496 I am putting these 2 on a weighing scale - take seroquel and run the risk of getting diabetes, getting cataract and needing eye operation, etc. etc. Stop medication and run the risk of a relapse. Relapse seemed to me to be less dangerous than getting diabetes and eyesight problems, maybe even blindness. My mood disorder is not as serious as those about whom I read about in forums like this and other websites. I told my doctor.
Avatar f tn Since seroquel can cause high BG you sure your diabetic and not as a result of seroquel raising your BG? Go to Google and put seroquel into the serch field.
Avatar f tn Check out these T-shirts. LOL perfect to wear to support groups. The "Seroquel Made me Eat It" The "Depakote Made Me Eat IT" " The Lithium Made Me Eat It" T-shirt. t-shirts.cafepress.com/mood-stabilizers www.cafepress.com/crazymeds/6451975 Does Seroquel, Lithium, or Depakote cause you to gain weight? Has anyone any ideas on how to lose medication weight without going off the meds. I just read that Seroquel causes hunger after eating a meal.

Avatar m tn The use of the antipsychotic medication Seroquel has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes, pancreatitis and death. Thousands of Seroquel lawsuits have been filed throughout the United States by individuals who suffered severe and life threatening injuries.
Avatar m tn Before, i was on zoloft and adivan, mostly took the adivan at night for sleeping issues.. But that hasnt worked, i saw my new psych md today and she gave me seroquel, and told me to only take it before bed time. I'll still be taking zoloft but no more adivan.. Has anyone took seroquel? Again, i have panic disorder, low self esteem... and depression sometimes...
Avatar m tn Since then I have seen where there is a Class Action Lawsuit against the makers of some of these slings. How many of these slings are at risk. What are my risks and/or options? I am having severe pain during intercourse and I am only 45!
Avatar f tn He's on two drugs that cause sleepiness, especially on startup. I'm not terribly surprised that this is happening, and it seems like not the best idea to be starting so many things at once--you can't tell exactly what's causing issues. Since the doc already told you to, go with the verbal order to take one tab at night and ignore the script. It should help a bit. Also, I looked at the drugs.com interactions checker.
Avatar n tn My only concern about this is that I take a medication called Seroquel. Would seroquel affect the results of an hiv antibody test? I read that seroquel can weaken the immune system. Therefore, I thought it was possible it could affect the length of time my body would take to build up antibodies to HIV or possibly Hepatitis? Can you assess my risk? Should I wait until 6 months to take another test? What type of testing regimen do you suggest for my situation?
663901 tn?1232649671 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
Avatar f tn Seems this is an off-label indication, and doctors use it based on experience As for your question about decreasing chances to get pregnant, I have no idea about that, but I can tell you that seroquel is in category C of risk for pregnant women. As per FDA, this means: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available.
Avatar f tn But as I said before they all have risk, but Seroquel was one of the safest and most commonly taken throughout pregnancy that I saw. Taking lamicton (lamictal) while pregnant gives you a much higher risk to have a baby with a oral cleft palate. Im sure you know that's between the upper lip and the nose (seen with cleft lip) or between the roof or back of the mouth and the nose (seen in cleft palate) may not close properly.
561706 tn?1333947274 I discussed this with a psychiatric doctor - I put these 2 on a weighing scale. On one side I take seroquel and run the risk of getting diabetes etc. On the other side, I don't take medication and run the risk of getting hospitalized again, after which I only need to go on medication again. Which one would you choose if you were me? Doctor said she would choose medication. I ask why, what is so bad about getting a relapse which I consider unlikely.
Avatar m tn Not entirely sure what this has to do with HCV but I heard a story on NPR about this over the summer. It seemed the risk is for those who are already at risk rather than your Average Joe with no history of a cardiovascular event. http://www.npr.
Avatar m tn I would want to know from the members of this forum about how many people are using Seroquel only as a sleeping aid in doses of 25 mg and 50 mg.All suggestions and answers are welcome.
698408 tn?1256958348 If a person needs an antipsychotic of course they have to take one but Depakoate does not have that risk. Zyprexa also has a severe risk for diabetes. All of the atypicals do but Zyprexa is most likely to. There have been warnings issued about it after it is was shown the company that produced it under reported the risk of diabetes to the FDA.
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL XR is not approved to treat depression; however, SEROQUEL is approved to treat bipolar depression. SEROQUEL and SEROQUEL XR are not approved for patients under the age of 18 years. The most common side effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, sedation, dizziness, high blood sugar, weakness, constipation, abdominal pain, sudden drop in blood pressure upon standing, sore throat, weight gain, abnormal liver tests, upset stomach, and sluggishness. Sounds kinda nasty to me.....
408795 tn?1324935675 LOS ANGELES – In a recent Associated Press article, about 30,000 California state prison inmates filed a class action lawsuit claiming insufficient health care for those with hepatitis C. The lead plaintiff, Kevin Jackson, was diagnosed with advanced liver disease due to hepatitis C infection in 2007 and claims he has repeatedly been denied treatment since. The director of health services for California state prisons, Robin Dezember is named as the defendant.
574118 tn?1305135284 t take any AD and no reason to live, or take an AD and run the risk of another mania then more seroquel to come until i take what i read 900. besides seroquel isn't cheap in my country one of the most expensive drugs no disability help, so will perish most probably and will have no job either to pay for it, i mean in the future. the ONLY solution i can think of so far is either 1. change med 2.
Avatar f tn s unlikely you have tardive dyskenisia (TD) from your Seroquel use as it usually results from long term use. Seroquel does not cause blepharospasms, but benzodiazepine withdrawal can. Dry eye can also cause blepharospasms. Blepharospasms are not necessarily permanent, but they can be. Some people will have it resolve after a few days to a week. If it persists, there are some treatments that you could talk to your doctor about, such as botox.
