Seroquel knocks me out

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel knocks me out

seroquel

874521_tn?1424120397 I've been on Seroquel (25 mg) for a few months now and I take it before I go to bed. It usually knocks me out within one hour. During the first month, though, I was groggy during the day.
Avatar_m_tn Seroquel is messed up and makes you out of it. I took it at night and knocks you out. It also may me very mean the next day. Be careful with that one. I take Zoloft with Buspirone for my bi polar and panic disorder and that works well.
Avatar_n_tn TRY THE SEROQUEL!!!! Put me right out!!! Seriously, this med works @ the correct dose. Lunesta did nothing for me! I have a high benzo tolerance and opiate tolernace and 25mg put me out like a baby @ ffirst 4 me. Almost feels like anesthesia 4 me as I felt paralyzed and then went out like light. Follow ur dr's instructions.
214255_tn?1205639236 i hear it knocks you out... like cold...
1305767_tn?1361196276 Personally, I have not heard of it being used for that as there are much more effective medications out there for anxiety. Also Seroquel can actually cause anxiety and panic attacks! I hope that your doctor asked you many more questions to determine if you had bipolar disorder than just about racing thoughts. Bipolar disorder cannot and should not be diagnosed only on the basis of that.
Avatar_m_tn I got a new psychiatrist who will actually LISTEN to me. She put me on prozac, ativan for severe anxiety (the seroquel supposedly was supposed to help with that, as well, but it never did. And in fact, because it made me so sick, it worsened my anxiety.) and I was diagnosed with ADHD which makes a ton of sense to me. It has made my life so much more enjoyable, I'm energetic, I exercise, and I'm not a complete anxious mess all day long.
Avatar_f_tn How can I safely-effectively wean myself off of Seroquel especially and at a later date topomax. I have put on 25 lbs. over 10 years and the Seroquel knocks me out at night and I feel groggy the next morning. 200 mg at night. I've lowered it to 100 mg each night this past week. I hope to do this for one month and see how it goes. My husband and I both dispute the bi-polar diagnosis of 10 years ago; not out of denial (as we are both very educated) but because of the symptoms.
1563533_tn?1345369896 I have been on Zoloft for many years, and I dont drink but on social occasions. I have had a drinks while taking zoloft and never had any problems. I am in the health care field and understand the importance of taking care of your body. I contracted Hep C while taking care of people in a hospital setting. Now, Im 35, no kids, no husband, and about to go thru the next year of my life under hard treatments for the HepC for 11months to be exact.
1134609_tn?1269275800 medication but I can't tolerate taking it except at bedtime because it totally knocks me out. Obviously, exactly the opposite of what you experience. As far as worrying about the rash (Stevens Johnson Syndrome) from the lamictal, it's very rare and from what I've read easily detected. I think I've been on about every combination of medication there is and I understand your frustration. I think many p. docs think the more medication you're on the better!
1134609_tn?1269275800 I take all my Seroquel at night 400 mg. It knocks me out at night, but I still have daytime drowsiness.
1538831_tn?1294202802 i hear ya with the sleeping problems, i was having major toruble sleeping so my doc added lunesta to the mix which i only take if absolutely necessary but it knocks me out like wow!
Avatar_n_tn Well, I cant agree. I LOVE my Seroquel. But I only take it at Bedtime. It knocks me the "you know what" out! Now, if I go Psychotic and Delusional - I HAVE to take it but that's only happened once since I started my little combo of Topomax and Seroquel. I'm not on a very high dose of it, though. I tend to think less is more in some instances but a lot of PDocs are all concerned about "theraputic levels".
Avatar_n_tn I'm now on Trazodone, 50mg, very low dose, and it knocks me out in about an hour and I sleep fine most nights. I know we can't suggest/recommend any meds, but you can mention it to your DR and see what they have to say about it. Also, look up other sleep meds on the net and bring the list next time you have an appt with your DR so you can discuss your options. I wish you well. I know it's not fun being up all night.
Avatar_f_tn Seroquel knocks me out cold, but it's also @&%# expensive and gives me a hangover. So basically I only use it as a "kill switch" for when I feel a mixed state coming on. I swear, I think that's my baseline. I've found valerian tea to be sedating, but not enough so for a hard core insomnia. I've also found that my cats love it. It's related to catnip. There are also a lot of "sleepy" tea blends out there, which include chamomile, skull cap and a bunch of other things.
Avatar_n_tn But I just wanted to ask/let you know that I take trazodone every night and it knocks me out cold. I've been a raging insomniac for 10 years, but off and on my whole life and its the only thing that works. Do NOT take Ambien or Lunesta. I had to call an ambulance because I had terrifying hallucinations on them. you might not, but if you fight the induction stage, you might. I did, not on purpose, just eternally pissed off about my bad luck/inability to do something as natural as sleep.
Avatar_m_tn But here's the kicker and the part that might help someone else out who's trying to shake these nasty pills........My trick was Seroquel,,,,,It's a sedative and it kinda knocks ya down a bit into the zombie world but at least you don't have to feel sick. I'm not sure if the symptoms have just not started yet or if the seroquel is already at work dampening the blow but I can tell ya, I think it's the seroquel that's helped me.
454371_tn?1221300985 Don't be afraid maybe call the doctor again and ask if he can give you something for anxiaty or mood swing lol no really the first doctor that put me on sub gave me 3 diferent medication for (bipolar & mood swings) one beeing the strongest seroquel you won't be on it for a long time just so that can get you trhough your induction to sub if you don't want to go trhough the wds that bad, I don't know if the meds help or what happend to me but I waited 24 hours then I took my first 2mg then wen
1029865_tn?1252422138 what is the base dose for seroquel to treat bi polar disorder. 50 mg knocks me out.
Avatar_n_tn you and I are in the same boat my friend. Weaned off Effexor and started 150 mg of seroquel at bedtime. It knocks me out in about two hours and makes me feel "stoned" until about 2-3PM. Then I get amped foe the evening, but have a real difficult time concentrating. It is also making me extremely irritable with my family. Can't stand loud noises initiated by others. Not liking it at all.
Avatar_m_tn , and was finally was able to work up to 300mg (and later transitioned to 400mg of the XR), but it was a slow process for me. I have only taken my Seroquel at night, because it would make me incredibly drowsy for the entire day if I took any in the AM. I also take Adderall XR for my ADHD (which is a stimulant) and it did not help with making me less drowsy. Talk with her doctor, and give it time. I was told that it usually takes a couple of weeks for the body to adjust.
Avatar_n_tn Everyone who i have discussed this with says that just 25mg of Seroquel alone knocks them out for atleast 12 hours. I just dont know if these are actually doing me any good. Any advice would be much appreciated.
906679_tn?1263616212 It sure helps, knocks me right out so take care with when you take this one. It's supposed to ba taken at night and the sleep effect is why.
1542957_tn?1305082038 I told him I only use it when I need to. I told him it knocks me out all night, and the next day I feel tired but relaxed. He said that would go away..the tiredness, if I took it everyday, which I am afraid to do because of all the side effects you can get from it. I kinda of told him about my melt down on friday....I was stumbling over my words like an idiot. He said he would see me again in 2 months. I said, I want everything documented if it comes down to me not being able to work.
Avatar_f_tn Usually my Seroquel knocks me out pretty good fpr the whole night, once it takes effect. In fact, I've been increasing my dose by 100mg... I believe I am now at 400mg. Lately, within the last few days... I've been having sleep trouble. I have been having really vivid dreams, I think they may disturbing/troubling (maybe about Subway work, Money.. Just worry while I sleep). This wakes me up slightly, and I'll have a period of a few hours (2-4 hrs apx) where my sleep will be light, in and out.
329165_tn?1443506417 Smiley, If you have not done so yet you could try using a natural sleep aid called Melatonin, in the vitamin section of a store. The days that I need to get some sleep, it normally knocks me out for a good 7 hours.
1134609_tn?1269275800 She also gave me Seroquel to take as needed for sleep, but I don't want to take it if I don't have to. It knocks me out, but sometimes it disrupts my sleep cycle and it makes me very groggy the next day. I also take Neurontin, so I am thinking about saving a half of my doses of that to take at night. I also take Melatonin, which works well. Also, Seroquel is so sedating because it's an anti-histamine, so I might as well just grab some benadryl and take it along with melatonin.
Avatar_f_tn this seroquel knocks me out. i'm suspose to take it around 4pm so i don't have a hang over effects in the morning. about an hour after i take it i'm a zombie. i fight to stay awake. this is something i hope will will pass. i can say that i have no trouble whatsoever falling or staying asleep for 8 plus hours. and i don't have a hang over feeling. i've never heard of this combo either. i just wonder if i really need the seroquel. i have ativan.
Avatar_f_tn Recently I went to a in patient detox to kick the Heroin habit because I am tired of the life i was leading then once i x-ed that out of my life i couldnt handle my life anymore once again and i was back to square one (i am not saying that heroin was the answer, it did help my anxiety, but not the other two) so finally i decided to go see a therapist and she prescribed me 300mg of Seroquel, she told me if i get anxiety during the day to take a piece of the pill (100mg) but no more than twice a
Avatar_n_tn ive had bad anxiety and depression for months,i also have not slept well in months i recently was prescribed a drug from my psychiatrist that knocks me out from 10at night till 7 in the morning. i feel sooooo much better, im certain many of my problems were because i had not slept well in a long time. even tho my sleep is now medicated, my days are much better.my feelings are balanced and healthy.
Avatar_m_tn I'm on 400mg of Seroquel and all they seem to do is knock me out for the evening and made me feel drowsy during the day. After the drowsiness wears about 16:30-17:00 i start to feel man ic again. However the drowsiness has pretty much worn during the day, unless i drink a good ammount. So I'm starting to feel manic most of the day. Ideally I'm meant to take my meds in two doses, but it knocks me out... How can i function if i sleep most of the day???
