Seroquel help with sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel help with sleep

seroquel

Avatar m tn My contribution would be to say taking seroquel for a sleep disturbance is like the proverbial sledge hammer to an ant. Same goes for benzos. These are very powerful drugs and were never approved for sleep disorders precisely because they are so powerful. They only help people sleep because they're sedating, not because they've dealt with whatever it is that is blocking you from sleeping. It's an unwanted side effect of the medications.
Avatar n tn Were you diagnosed with anything else in addition to OCD? I know sometimes anti-psychotics are prescribed to OCD sufferers but I thought Seroquel was for Bi-Polar?
1349329 tn?1276985202 My Dr. has prescribed a low dose of Seroquel for me to help with sleep while I'm detoxing. I did an internet search for information and found a website that sells this Medication and you don't need a prescription. I'm going copy and past what it says about how to take it etc., Read everything it says, it is "Totally Crazy." Drug Name Seroquel (Quetiapine) Drug Uses Seroquel is masterpiece for treating schizophrenia or bipolar boisterousness.
Avatar n tn s generic brand for help with sleep (versus the standard Ambien, etc. and other 170 different OTC and RX that are available). I did not see Seroquel on the list and see that it is mainly for manic depression/ biopolar disorder, etc. Thanks.
Avatar f tn With our ups and downs comes highs and lows in energy and sleep. My Psychiatrist did prescribe me Seroquel, but it was also to help treat my bipolar. He started me out on 100 mg, and it literally knocked me out. When I did wake up, my body felt like dead weight. NOTE: EVERY ONE will have a different reaction to medication. That was mine. END NOTE.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with bipolar and have been prescribed Seroquel and Lexapro. They both have worked and have brought my symptoms under control, but with a lot of side effects. I have an incredible hunger for sweets every day and have had much weight gain. I am too sluggish and tired to work out at the gym or even walk around the block. This has aggravated by sleep apnea which I was recently diagnosed with.
Avatar n tn False positive of what? The answer to my question may not help me add anything more but it could help you get an answer.
Avatar f tn I'm not familiar with Seroquel, but in regards to the restless leg syndrome, I take a full dose of Advil & Tylenol at the same time. I have serious problems with sleeping when I have the restless leg stuff going, and this combination does seem to help. (A pharmacist friend suggested the Advil/Tylenol as a safe combination when you need that extra-strength solution.
Avatar n tn ), but I know all too well what Seroquel can do to ya. Seroquel is a VERY serious drug for people with psychological issues. I used to know a girl who was a bonafied sex addict (no joke here, she had a really bad disease) who was on Seroquel. I won't go into any details, but believe me....she really was sick. Real sex addiction is nothing to laugh at. She gave me a couple of Seroquel one time and I just took one, and was as f**ked up as a person can possibly get.
Avatar n tn If i were you i would be happy for the 4 hrs sleep at the moment then i suppose it will increase with time when the seroquel leaves your body for good. As to the running after getting off bed. I don't get you here, whether this is a custom that you do usually i.e. sports or just the meds. Because I once tried lithium for one day to check mood stabilizers and the same phenomenon occurs i started running in the house, so it could be the lithium and the seroquel was masking it.
Avatar f tn My Dr. gave me seroquel 25mg to take before bed to sleep. Before this i was taking xanax .25 for panic attics, which I took the xanax 3 x a day. So the Dr. said replace the 3rd xanax with the seroquel 25mg before be d to seep how it works. OK i start taking Seroquel Fri night. Sat. i feel tired a little out of it and feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack. I say OK it probably just the meds getting into me. sun feel the same way. Mon.
Avatar m tn seroquel was first developed as an anti psychotic but it was discovered that it worked well as a sedative with no habit forming properties. It's still used as a anti-psychotic but at 400-600mg a day, at 100 and less its for sleep. I can't see how it would help with any wd symptoms unless you want to sleep through them. I will make you gain weight if taken daily for a long time.
1965148 tn?1354978634 t matter what state you are in, you could have it through the ups the downs and everything inbetween. I agree with everyone else a mood stabalizer would be best to help you be less irritable. I am on Lamictal (Lamotrogine). I really don't think it is the medication that is causing the mood changes. It is probably just the bipolar.
Avatar f tn Anyway, without seroquel ive not able to sleep AT ALL, my entire life my insomnia has been very bad, its been like 6 nights of the week i wont sleep, last night ill sleep. My mind races a lot when i try to sleep, should i do a sleep study?? My doctor says if i treat my anxiety, it'll treat my insomnia BUT the anxiety meds make my sleep worse!
563541 tn?1257877567 i was in same boat....doc sent me home with script for seroquel....i took it in hospital, didn't help me sleep one bit....but also, after reading up more on it, didn't like what was said about the drug....so i never got the script filled after getting home and i don't regret it....yes, i still have problems sleeping, but the seroquel didn't help me with that issue anyway, so why take it? i'm not sure about helping with depression, etc.
Avatar n tn I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck. However my sleep is non-existant and so badly needed. Should i try the seroquel for a night? I have read pros and cons about it.
Avatar m tn If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn I feel a little like the odd man out writing this. I have taken seroquel for years (100mg.) for sleep and have no trouble at all. In fact I feel worse if I don't take it. After a couple of days I just don't sleep. I also take a 25mg. dose as needed to help with my panic attacks, and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I need some serious help here as I am having significant problems and the doctors don't seem to know what is wrong with me. I started taking Bystolic 5mg in early September of this year due to palpitations and an abnormally high resting heart rate. They can't find any cause with testing.
Avatar m tn I need some help with this one.. I really need to know if it will stop the anxiety, restless leg ****, let me fall asleep. Like I said, they gave me 10mg Daiz and it doesn't really help. I have taken Benedryl to try to go to sleep, that won't work. Listen, I need some help here from people who have taken Seroquel before. I don't want to **** anyone off here, but I know a lot about Subox, I have been on it for 5 years, ok.
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
447130 tn?1225470866 I would speak to a nutritionist. If you were on the Seroquel for a sleep aide and discontinued it with your psychiatrist's permission that's fine. If it was for mood stabilization then something else should replace it. There are many other options. Look on the links page. Speak to your psychiatrist more. If it was only for sleep and you no longer have insomnia that's fine. If you do Rozerem which adjusts the sleep cycle as it works like melatonin is a good option.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Then they tried Nortriptyline, and I used it for 3 days, and had the worst nightmares of my life, so, stopped that. Waited for 3 days before anyone got back in touch with me, so had no sleep help or pain help at night for that time. Then yesterday that is when he called and said the Seroquel. He has me on a 1/2 pill of 25mgs. dose, because he says that I am sensitive to the drugs. Sometimes I just want to jump off a bridge and get it over with.
Avatar m tn My new psychiatrist switched me to Seroquel 100mg which I started taking on March 20, 2009. My question is can Seroquel help me on my Klonopin withdrawal? There were nights I can't sleep. I read an article that Antipsychotics should be avoided may aggravate benzodiazepine withdrawal. Please read: http://www.bcnc.org.uk/drugs.html. I am scared, please help.
