seroquel for postpartum depression

I don't know what seroquel is, is it for depression only? My husband is on paxil but there are so many medications for depression out there, maybe something is better for you that wont give you a panick attack after taking it. I have anxiety and sometimes now take ativan if i need it, was taking it twice a day for awhile but only 1/2 when i feel nervous and insecure.

t know about medications but there are alot more out there than epilim and seroquel so trying something different may help. That is a discussion for the psychiatrist. As hard as it may be to watch - he has to want to change and has to see this as a problem. You can do nothing except support your mother and tell your father how you feel about the situation (best to do it when he isn't raging - it could escalate into violence and he can't really hear you when raging anyway.

i have suffered with anxiety and depression for over 30 years. i have been on valium for 10 years. it helped the anxiety but not the depression. last week my stress was so high i felt like a nervous breakdown. my dr. prescribed seroquel 25 to 50 mg five days ago. for the first time i do not feel dpressed or anxiety. i stopped taking the valium when i started the seroquel. my valium has been a very high dose 60mg a day. will i get withdrawl symptoms from stopping the valium?

Seroquel used to be used more for bi-polar but is being used more often now for depression. Did your Dr explain why they wanted you to take this med combo? I do agree with SassyLassie. Call the pharmacy because they'll know if you can takes these meds together safely.

I took 25 mg of Seroquel for GAD and it did wonders! I took it for a year and recently got off because my stresses are gone.

Hi. I take Seraquel, in the evenings, 100 mg. The one thing I have noticed is how tired I am the next day. My pdoc says to take it earlier in the evening as it peaks at about 5 hours.

(My mother had depression, my brother has depression, my uncle gets panic attacks, and my grandfather on my fathers side had schizophrenia. I also had bad postpartum depression with both my kids) He put me on Prozac, Ritalin and some Seroquel. I thought I was doing better, but my husband said i was worse and we were fighting more. I went back and he put me on Effexor. I guess i did better on it, but I was still fighting more with my husband, so i ended up quitting all my meds.

Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?

My husband always checked on me to make sure it didnt esculate and I was prescribed to take more vitamin D. (Every case is different).

Seroquel working as a mood stabilizer should treat depression. I believe that I experienced some minor depression when I was on Seroquel but that's not that common. It definitely should treat paranoia as that's part of psychosis in general.

If this is the case, then it is in my opinion not a bad choice, though some would argue there are better(safer) options due to the risk factors involved with the class of drugs to which Seroquel belongs. There are a number of other(*safer*) drugs that are being prescribed for sleeping issues which includes antihistamines such as Atarax/ Hydroxyzine or Phenergan/Promethazine or small doses of tricyclic drugs like Doxepin/Sinequan, Mianserin/Tolvon and many more.

With that though is postpartum depression can happen for up to 2 years after the birth of your child so you are going thru postpartum and pregnancy depression all in one but it normal. But make sure you sit down in talk to someone about anything you may be second guessing your self on or if you are getting over whelmed. Please dont be afraid to ask for help. Because it will eat you up inside if you try to do it alone and bottle it in.

Postpartum depression isn't from not bonding with the baby... I believe I had it and I had skin to skin the second my son was born.

should i stop taking the wellbutrin for depression and increase my dosage of seroquel xr to 300-400mg?

Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. He explained sleep is crucial to bipolar disorder and ordered my on the Seroquel until otherwise notified.

Now lamictal is good for depression so is seroquel which is often used as a monotherapy because it has an antidepressant effect. In mania seroquel is best, don't say lithium or tegretol, remember that in lithium NOT only drink a lot of water but plenty of water with flush it out, too cumbersome. Seroquel is best.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have been on Seroquel 200 mg for approx one year. Since being on the med I have experienced extreme forgetfulness. My short term memory is especially affected and it's getting progressively worse. I don't think forgetfulness is listed as a side effect of Seroquel. I was wondering if anyone else on this med has experienced the same.

My information is that all are given to prevent mania and reduce dopamine responsible for psychosis. Yet seroquel especially is given for depression too this is why it works as a mood stabilizer. Some say all atypical are the same but seroquel seems to be different from readings and at least it works for me. My combo is 75 seroquel + 1 risperidone + 1 stelazin (typical AP). It's weird and crazy usually one AP is enough.

I am now 30 weeks with neither depression or the postpartum depression!!!
