Seroquel for hypomania

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel for hypomania

seroquel

Avatar f tn I have gained weight from the seroquel and that weighs on me literally. Is this what the hypomania phase is? How long does it last?
Avatar f tn For the last 4-5 days I have been waking up(wide awake) at 3am. I feel a little run down later in the day, but for the most part I'm feeling "normal". I have seroquel for manic episode emergencies, but this doesn't seem to be that, yet. Should I just wait it out, or maybe adjust my medicines(lamictal, risperidal). I don't see my psyche for 2 more weeks. It's not urgent, but any input would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn ve been on 300 mg of Seroquel for several years. My mood stabilizer is Lamictal. For me, both of these medications are essential in reducing the severity of mood swings. I'm also taking Celexa for depression. A depressive phase could come crashing down---stay vigilant and proactive in managing your moods!
Avatar f tn I was tired of feeling groggy and lethargic. Without the Seroquel I experienced hypomania for a while and felt great but now am in a depression like nothing I've had before. I'm torn between seeking help (meds) again or trying to ride out the roller coaster. I know I'll feel better eventually... I just hate the thought of turning into a zombie again like I was with the Seroquel.
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist thinks I have Bipolar II, but I've never had a hypomanic experience outside of the two times I've tried SSRIs. I've struggled with depression for as long as I can remember, I'm 24. I tried prozac when I was 21 and had a hypomanic experience 2 months in. At that time I was drinking a TON, abusing adderall, and getting little sleep. Then 3 years later I tried celexa, and after 3 days I felt good, then after about 5 I felt too good.
Avatar m tn I took ect from 4/2008 to 7/2009 and ended up with all kinds of problems. My memory is terrible, short term and long term. I've been on trileptal for 3 yrs and seroquel for a year. The seroquel helps but I put on a lot of weight. I'll never go back to ect.
Avatar m tn do they help the manic state,,and mania thoughts?? i was on seraquil for 2 yrs it helped me sleep good but not really nothing threw the day on it..i cant take it anymore due to raise in heart rate..please help me in any way you can??
672839 tn?1305792947 I feel up, though have been sleep challenged for weeks. Anybody else??
Avatar f tn Your post is strange to me, for yet you said you turned manic after the SSRI prior to it you said you were dx BP. What made your pdoc suggest BP. If it is depression only then it's cyclothemia for sure as the other manic pole is not present unless you trigger it by an AD. In this case I believe your drug is lamictal. Of course I am not a pdoc but can tell from my experience because it's my case typical. Although I haven't tried the drug but believe in it for my case.
574118 tn?1305135284 It gives you ups and downs which make hypomania and depression more likely. The ideal would be to find a dose of seroquel and stick with it. It the fatigue is getting to you, you may want to try it all at night. What I worry about is the kindling theory. Each time you allow yourself to reach a mixed state, depression, or mania/hypomania the pathways in the brain are forming a stronger connection.
1039200 tn?1314912008 i have a solution for you, because right now - having failed with lithium - i am reverting to seroquel monotherapy, i am descending from my hypomania, i am on 300mg but a little of rapid cycling the residual from the AD. the way i am doing it was an idea that i still recall from one pdoc 3 years ago. he said either i increase the dose of AP's to bring you down or else exhaust yourself with sports. it succeeded. i play sports heavily lifting weight running and it calms me down enormously.
337492 tn?1212458836 I have a BP friend that started Seroquel almost a month ago and she is still having sedative side effects. She takes 50mg twice a day and 200mg at bedtime. She is concerned about this side effect continuing and wants to feel peppy in order to start back to work. Will this sleepy side effect subside. She sleeps throughout the day. Thanks!
459981 tn?1212193981 so ive been on seroquel for only like a week now. 25 mg and my ob doc called today and said she does not want me on this med. Im so confused. her reasoning makes sense though. having been my ob and family practitioner for 2 years she knows that normally durring my pregnancy i am very level and have never shown any signs of hypomania. So her thoughts are that i should be re evaluated after my pregnancy.
Avatar n tn In the meantime, I started taking Lamictal 25 mg. My question is, will Lamictal help with the hyper state that Zoloft put me in (racing thoughts) and how long does it take. I have finished my first week and feel the same, except my jumping leg has subsided (probably from discontinuing the Zoloft). It seems Lamictal is good for depression, but I am afraid it will have the same effect Zoloft did on me. P.S.
874521 tn?1424116797 As he stabilizes in that regard his psychiatrist can determine what medication is right for him and at what dose but Seroquel does have a good mood stabilization effect.
Avatar m tn I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! I'm in the same boat. Right now actually. I love feeling up, really up. And why take that away.... why take that glimmer of "normalcy" away? For much too long I have been depressed....I deserve to feel good! Every now and then, I do have the thought "maybe I should call my psychiatrist". I know he will put me on Seroquel and take this feeling away.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
933174 tn?1375792553 Just a little note, I am not on any MS and have not been dx yet. Right now I am taking Bupropion and a thyroid midicine. I was prescribed Seroquel for sleep, but for some reason I quit taking it and now only take it when I need it. Btw, is that safe to do?
Avatar f tn I've been on 25mg prescribed Zoloft for about three weeks, and went up to 50mg a few days ago. I was due to up my dose to 75mg today but I think I am experiencing hypomania. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night despite having exercised the day before, going to bed at normal time and with normal routine prior, and laying in bed for hours trying desperately to sleep - but I just couldn't.
731160 tn?1297272308 m guessing that since mania is bad for your brain, then hypomania must be also, (maybe just less dangerous all at once than a manic episode but just as dangerous over time.) I'm just guessing at this, so it would be a good thing to ask your doctor. If you believe the meds are causing it also you should ask your doctor. You should need to be in hypomania to be creative, us creative people are just that naturally.
Avatar n tn Never heard the turm " dusting " I take 100mgs. of seroquel @ bedtime + 2 one mg. mealotion, mainly for sleep but truthfully the next day benifits from the seroquel was a surprise.Pleasant. There is a extended release form that may work better for you and you might not feel so sluggish the next day. I would talk it over with my pdoc. and see what else is out there, before you loose too much sleep.
Avatar m tn I get cranky and irritated and feel down, but then pop right up 3 hours later and a happy camper. I just had my Seroquel upped so that hypomania is better controlled, it's a relief, but I still get some along with mood drops. Being self aware is most important and how you are going to manage your swings. You can control them to a point. Regulating your sleep, no more then 8hrs a day, no stimulants or very little. I'm allowed 1 cup of coffee a day.
733744 tn?1337950650 she came to see me straight away after speaking to the phiciatric she has given me med that is for dipor seroquel does this mean i have this if so it would answer for a lot of the things i do .oh also my mum has manic deppressin are they the same.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I tend to teeter towards the manic side of the disorder; not hypomania, but agitated manic phases. The Seroquel really put me in a bad place; it was strange. Plus, I have to be careful of some of the medication as my family has a history of being overweight. I gained a huge amount of weight when placed on Celexa and I couldn't lose it. So, Depakote may be out of the question.
794091 tn?1264986339 yes, i would think no prob, in my opinion. i was on 10mg and quite frequently pdoc increased it to 20mg if needed. four hours later i wouldn't think a prob. up to yourself and maybe read the insert info that comes with it.
Avatar f tn I'm currently on 150 mg of Lamictal and 25 mg of Seroquel (for sleep). The Seroquel helped me sleep at first but its sedative aspects have worn off. Leading up to Christmas things were super busy and I was anxious and not sleeping well. I also felt pressured to get things done perfectly and to please everyone. When I explained my situation to the physiatrist he suggested I go on Lithium.
574118 tn?1305135284 Go to the medication website and go to the section of the information about Seroquel that is meant for physicians. That would of course not in any manner substitute for a psychiatrist's advice but it would give you the full information. Seroquel can be used as an adjunct antipsychotic but I believe for its standard use as an antipsychotic and mood stabilizer the starting effective dose is 300 mg.
