736475 tn?1281259327 extended release seroquel starts at 200mg, sway your husband may need them so i wouldnt push for detox if his doctor feels he should take them you can call astrazenica for free medication, or make an appointment with mental health and file for their patients assitance program
Avatar n tn same equivalent, however the XR is usually only taken ONCE per day...b/c it is extended release.....therefore only needed once in a 24 hr period. its usually taken at night to promote sleep without the hangover effect you'd get by taking this med in the a.m.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I had that problem and I would take the morning dose earlier and sleep it off. However, I do believe now its available in an extended release form. You could ask your psychiatrist about that option and what the dosing is for it.
1021784 tn?1306363011 I have taken seroquel since I was 17 and I am now 24. Usually a doctor will start you off on a lower dose from 25 mg to 100 mg. It makes you really sleepy so don't drive. But it does help with anxiety and insomnia and bad dreams. I am now at 600 mg. Over long periods of time u will get immune to lower doses. I take seroquel xr which is extended release where u take it at night and the benefits last all day. Not just at night. U won't be sleepy all day, just at night when u first take it.
Avatar f tn I have been able to come down a couple of 100 mgs of Seroquel, so I am on 300 extended release of Seroquel at night along with 3 mgs of Envega as well at night. I get up at 5 and read and do Tai Chi exercises. But I am SO doped up till noon/1:00 pm that I have to take a nap around 8 a.m. I then don't have the strength to hardly get off the couch and I have NO drive to do anything till late afternoon when I start to feel better. This is REALLY messing up my life.
Avatar n tn I started on regular Seroquel after a manic episode that had psychotic features. I was stable for 3 years. I had lost a lot of weight, and the Seroquel dose started to give me a harmless but uncomfortable side effect. My dr at the time said I shouldn't be on it since I wasn't currently having psychotic symptoms and tapered me off it. I went from 450mg to 150mg and I was unable to sleep and my thoughts were disjointed.
Avatar n tn Are you on an extended release pill? That makes it a bit trickier. The key to tapering is going lower at a very slow pace and over a very long time. As there are variables with pill availability in cutting your dose, you need to speak to your physician about specifics.
605458 tn?1539228808 I have always taken regular release Seroquel, 450mg at bedtime for a few years now. My new psych dr wants me to try Seroquel XR - extended release. I have been having problems with my anxiety disorder - panic attacks which are new, and with my moods cycling rapidly. I am not keen on taking the Xanax for anxiety, but I do when absolutely necessary. She said that some people have reported an anti-anxiety effect that carries through into the daytime when the Seroquel XR is taken at bedtime.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried the extended releExtended release Xanaxase Xanax? I know it has been on the market for a bit but I haven't heard any feedback.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar f tn It is an extended release formula of the drug and should be easier for you to tolerate. Many people report that after switching to the XR formula that they can take it during the day once they get used to the drug.
999828 tn?1250122926 i would talk to my dr and if u r using this for sleep u need the instant release tabs....in wds u would need more but 25 mgs of seraquil instant release is enuf to knock an elphant out...
574118 tn?1305135284 When treated for the depression the pdoc changed my seroquel from quick release to XR. Immediately I found it difficult to sleep and it triggered a mild hypomania, but nothing serious. However it lifted me out (if a bit too quickly) of the depression. If you are finding the sedative effects of seroquel beneficial for sleep you may lose this with the XR.
603015 tn?1329862973 I had my seroquel during the day upped, and then switched over to the extended release which will work all day. I also had my lamactil upped as well, 5//7 nights it works well. I take ativan if I need it, but take Trazadone for sleep every night, it's not a tranq. like the other meds. If I've been sleepy without the Trazadone, I just don't take it, and haven't seen any adverse affects regarding this. You might want to talk to your pdoc about a sleep med switch.
574118 tn?1305135284 Hi, the XR is extended release, it releases a little at a time throughout the day, where as the standard Seroquel is like an instant hit, it makes you very sleepy. I wish there was a happy medium, 12 years later I am still searching.. my meds are constantly being tweaked, sometimes by myself which isn't advisable but I think a lot of BP sufferers are extremely aware of what helps and what doesn't...we are not given enough credit!
Avatar n tn lately, i cant brush my hair on the left side because it is so sensitive. Am i on the wrong meds? What do you think of the hydro 15mgs extended release verses the 7.5 mg of hydrocodone?
725248 tn?1316162245 Have you tried the extended release formula for Dilaudid? A new extended release formulation (OROSĀ®) of Hydromorphone is available and I believe it is more afforable than the Fentanyl. Here is link about the medication... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2697506/ I wish you the best of luck. With today's economy we have to get what we can afford.
612551 tn?1450022175 I was recently prescribed 100 mg extended release beta blocker to increase my long time used 50 mg. Is it better to take 50 mg every 12 hours rather than 100 mg every 24 hours? If no, should I take 100 mg in morning or before bed?
Avatar f tn You can take Xanax too and Xanax being a sedative, hypnotic, anti-convulsive, anxiolytic medication will make you even more tired and dizzy since you are already on Seroquel which is very sedative in its anti-psychotic kind of med. You get the extended release which should cause less sedation but still when mixed with a benzodiazepine such as Xanax it will add up and make you feel like you mentioned above.
605458 tn?1539228808 Maybe I should have mentioned- I do all of those things. I am the 'ideal' bipolar patient when it comes to doing what needs to be done to keep my moods as steady as possible. So, what I am describing here is in spite of doing all of that. I eat right, I exercise every day, I take my meds, I make my appointments, I journal, I am educated on my disorder, I follow a strict sleep hygiene routine, I am in therapy, etc. I have been treated for my bipolar for more than 10 years.
571167 tn?1223214465 Seroquel has a 2 dif forms of the drug ...a time release and instant release (still works all day). I believe the time release works better and take it at night before bed.. get a GREAT night sleep and you don't feel drowsy next day. All the antipsyc drugs cause weight gain.. so beware. If I had to choose one or other...def seroquel. Abilify can cause long term brain and muscle effects that are irreversible. . Read up on abilify withdrawl. Good luck!
Avatar m tn t had any in comparison to other anti psychotics that I have been on.. Sulpiride, Risperdal and Olanzapine..being on the extended release Seroquel is a lot different to the instant release one where people have described quite strong side effects.
Avatar n tn This is a good discussion to have with your doctor. Metformin, the immediate release version and Metformin, the extended release version are the exact same medication. The extended release version just doesn't have to be taken as often as it is released over time. The bid or twice a day schedule with the Metformin you currently take will work as well as the once a day extended release version. That's really the main difference.
980052 tn?1262967079 time released is usually used for bipolar disorders/lower doses/instant relese is better for sleep/check and see what type u have..extended or instant release...at 69 days, sleep should be returning..tapering off and sleeping on ur own may be a good goal to work at now..often a pharmacist knows more about drugs than a dr..talk to him about it..read the package insert..
Avatar n tn I was taking 17 pills a day until my pdoc changed up my meds into extended release, I felt like I was chained to them, now I take most of them once a day at bed time. Even though my mood has stabilized out quite a bit, I'm personally having a hard time motivating myself to work out and do more things. I think BP will always be a bit of a struggle, but you sure don't deserve having someone who isn't supportive.
Avatar f tn The capsules are immediate release and the pills are extended release, right? I can't take hydrocodone also. I don't want to take a more powerful drug like oxycotin or morphine, so I was hoping there was a different chemical compound in the capsules!
Avatar m tn Not sure of your exact question here, but Effexor XR is an "extended release" formula, which means a slower, more gradual release over a longer period of time versus a faster acting formula. It generally takes about 3 days to reach a steady state in your system, and can take up to a month to fully assess its effectiveness. Hope that helped a bit...if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
