Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel dosage sleep

seroquel

Avatar f tn I am taking my medication for my bipolar, anxiety but the thing is sometime I dont want to take the seroquel at night because I do not want to be put into a drug induce sleep. I like to be aware of my surroundings and I would like to be alert in case anything was to happen. I talked this with my social worker but because of the severity of my mania I think she wants me to be on a higher dosage or atleast a different kind.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar a month ago. The pdoc has been working with the dosage of Lamictal. I went up to 150 mg but had severe swelling. He put me on 50 mg on Tuesday. I have not slept well in weeks. I have had an especially hard time since I dropped down, getting only about three hours a night. I can't function on that little sleep. The doc gave me 25 mg of seroquel. I used it last night and slept much better. Is sleep always going to be a problem with bipolar meds?
4762310 tn?1362165935 Ok , because i was put on seroquel 50 mg and 10 citalopram and where on them for 6 weeks and they did nothing at all, so he upped the seroquel to 100mg and citalopram to 20mg and its been 2 weeks and still nothing , :S
2198749 tn?1338642995 I am curious to know if a 75mg nightly dose of Seroquel for sleep can increase depressive symptoms during the day. If so, should I discuss a change in meds or dosage with my HCP?
Avatar m tn I have been taking seroquel for 4 or 5 years now...I have hep c--..I am treating now..on 18th week...and I still take seroquel..don't actually know what I would do without it because it does help w/sleep..hope this info helps.
1278098 tn?1297646373 I was taking 1 tab of Seroquel in the morning and one at night. I was finding the last dosage before sleep was k-oing me and I was sleeping for 12-14 hrs! Thats too much sleep and I was missing pasrt of my day because as soon as I would roll out of bed I would have to be to work for 11pm. So instead I started taking a half before bed, then the other half when I got up. I found the other half started to make me drowzy before working nights so I stopped taking it.
Avatar m tn I have been off the Klonopin since 3/20/2009 and since 3/20 if have been taking Seroquel. I did not experience seizures since I stop Klonopin but after I stop Klonopin and switched to Seroquel there are nights I can't sleep... it's been like when I had a good sleep last night the next night I can't sleep. I am also experiencing muscle jerk and back pain. Do you think these are Klonopin withdrawals?
Avatar m tn SEROQUEL XR is not approved to treat depression; however, SEROQUEL is approved to treat bipolar depression. SEROQUEL and SEROQUEL XR are not approved for patients under the age of 18 years. The most common side effects are dry mouth, drowsiness, sedation, dizziness, high blood sugar, weakness, constipation, abdominal pain, sudden drop in blood pressure upon standing, sore throat, weight gain, abnormal liver tests, upset stomach, and sluggishness. Sounds kinda nasty to me.....
16773127 tn?1451336964 I suffer from bi-polar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years.
Avatar m tn Seroquel is a serious drug for serious mental illness. It was illegally marketed by the manufacturer (who has been fined and sued successfully for this) for just about everything. So this isn't a drug I would take for sleep (taking any drug for sleep can be a problem long-term, so I hope you're looking for the solution and not just relying on medication) given the strong side effect profile of drugs intended to treat psychosis.
Avatar f tn I am on Zoloft and seroquel for bipolar. How much sleep should i get at night to feel good in the morning? I've been asleep for almost twelve hours and woken up dead tired to the point that I'll turn my alarm off and not get up... Help?
Avatar f tn The zeldox did not help me sleep yet it made me feel as though I were stuck in a daze the whole next day and I could barely do anything. Seroquel can do that however seroquel does help you sleep at the same time.
Avatar m tn I am not sure how long Seroquel would work as a sleep aid. I found it sedating when I first started using it, but now I take 700mg each day and it doesn't make me sleepy at all.
585414 tn?1288941302 However the daytime dose knocked me out too much and so now I take it all at night, which great for sleep but not ideal as seroquel has a short half life and I would then start to speed up towards the end of the following day. Don't really know the answer except adapt sleeping patterns like suggested in previous post, unfortunately I don't have the choice to adapt my own pattern around meds coz of work/kids etc, now considering AP switch to abilify.
Avatar m tn I have been on Zoloft for 4 weeks and cant sleep. My Dr increased the dosage to 150mgs and it has not helped. I stay up all night, and when I go to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror, my pupils are dilated. Is this normal? Told my Dr I was going to stop taking it and she insist I stay on it. She says Im being childish and that I need to take Seroquel at night to sleep, and to take the Zoloft in the mornings. I am sick of taking anymore pills!
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed seroquel "off-label" for sleep for a long time, but I dont like being on it because it really is powerful like being hit with a jackhammer and is hard to shake off the next day. It has a hangover effect. But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it.
Avatar m tn My physiologist prescribed zofoft 200mg. My question is about seroquel he has me taken 50mg at night. Is this drug safe and does it work for anyone . Just don't know about all the side effects. Please help if any information.
1255936 tn?1296623461 Hello Everyone! Anyone have positive effects on Seroquel for GAD? I know it's an anti-psychotic for Schizophrenia and BP1 & 2. I have read everything I can find on this drug. I have been given 25mg a night for GAD that has developed over the last 5 months. I have a history of severe depressive episodes and have been on Effexor for yrs (300mg/day). The depression has been held back relatively well but the GAD and some symptoms of depression are creeping in.
534105 tn?1226157177 I am now struggling with anxiety and mild insomnia mainly due to withdrawal. Dr. wants me to take 25mg of Seroquel (quetiapine) per day. Do you think this is a good decision? I do not want to be addicted or dependent on any psych drug, and I have heard that quetiapine also is a drug that causes addiction and withdrawal symptoms..
Avatar f tn I can't take Seroquel at a higher dosage it makes me sleep to long...I just don't know about things right now...my head seems very unclear and of course I am still up at almost 4 am I have to get up at 8...I can't sleep but I don't want to take the seroquel I might oversleep....
Avatar f tn any info at all on this med would be helpful............also im on klonopin and 1/2 of a 25 mg seroquel(as needed for sleep) I dont think i like how the seroquel makes me feel.............the dr said lamictal should help my depression...........i was on abilify and i feel i gained weight on it plus develepoed awful dizziness had to stop it after 3 months.
987762 tn?1671273328 After his psychiatrist put his dosage upto 900mg of seroquel without incrimental increases he was taken to see another dr. Told sometimes it takes time to get the right dosage worked out and to give it time. The dilusional behavior is now out of control!! But this was recognised as a notable reaction and the higher dose maybe the correct one.
Avatar m tn he still kept met on lithium, just kept increasing the dosage. Last year I got really sick, I lost my cognitive powers - couldn't see, hear, hold something in my hand, climb stairs, walk straight. I was off balance all the time. So I was sent to hospital and put on Epilim. What a relief! For the first time in 6 years I feel like a human again. No episodes in 4 months and I'm mixed state rapid cycling.
Avatar f tn I take Seroquel for sleep and it does make you so groggy during the day. I hate it but it got better after a couple weeks on it. I only take 100mg. and always at bedtime. I don't think the docs use it as a 1st treatment, it's usually a supplement to some other drug like lamictal. Hang tight, you should be able to ask your doc to put you on something else until you build up your lamictal dose.
574118 tn?1305135284 Lamictin 50mg in the morning and Welbutrin XL 300MG in the morning. The reason they increase Seroquel and Lamictin is to achieve the correct dosage but mainly due to the side-effects it may have, more like an allergy thing, ex Steven Johnsons syndrome. Though it is rare, but still a possibility. My advise is to leave your meds as prescribed by your dr. You will not get addicted to it and crave more.
Avatar f tn You could also your psychiatrist ask if the Seroquel is being prescribed only as a sleep aide or also for mood stabilization purposes as an adjunct to other medications. If not you could ask them about other sleep aides one of which is Rozerem which is an FDA approved medication that is safe and non addictive and works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle and whether that would be a viable option.
1349329 tn?1276985202 Many doctors are using seroquel to help for sleep durning wd .It does not mean you have have any mental illness. Its just to sleep you threw the worse part of wd .BTW it is precription drug but just like most drugs these days if there is a will to buy something the is a way ..
Avatar f tn Hi. I've been on Seroquel and then Seroquel XR for about two years now. I was initially prescribed it for bipolar mania, and the resultant insomnia. I have had panic attacks before prior to taking Seroquel, however never constantly, and never for no reason at all. I would have a panic attack after a traumatic event, or when I smoked pot as a teenager, but otherwise I never had them.
