seroquel dosage bipolar

I am taking my medication for my bipolar, anxiety but the thing is sometime I dont want to take the seroquel at night because I do not want to be put into a drug induce sleep. I like to be aware of my surroundings and I would like to be alert in case anything was to happen. I talked this with my social worker but because of the severity of my mania I think she wants me to be on a higher dosage or atleast a different kind.

im taking seroquel xr for bipolar but i seem to have anxiety now. socail anxiety.. could i be miss diagnosed? should i stop taking the wellbutrin for depression and increase my dosage of seroquel xr to 300-400mg?

Hmmm... Has she said why you're a big risk for OD on mood stabilizers? Is it something to do with your metabolism or she thinks you're suicidal? As it is, it depends on the person. If you've been on them before and didn't find them helpful, it's possible it doesn't work for you. However, if you ended them before they had a chance to get to a therapeutic level, it could be a dosage issue. Only you know how they affected you.

I was diagnosed with bipolar a month ago. The pdoc has been working with the dosage of Lamictal. I went up to 150 mg but had severe swelling. He put me on 50 mg on Tuesday. I have not slept well in weeks. I have had an especially hard time since I dropped down, getting only about three hours a night. I can't function on that little sleep. The doc gave me 25 mg of seroquel. I used it last night and slept much better. Is sleep always going to be a problem with bipolar meds?

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have been on Seroquel 200 mg for approx one year. Since being on the med I have experienced extreme forgetfulness. My short term memory is especially affected and it's getting progressively worse. I don't think forgetfulness is listed as a side effect of Seroquel. If you read the prescribing information (easily googled, not hidden behind pay walls), they all have dosage instructions for bipolar as well, often with different target doses depending on what you're treating. I have been taking a number of medications since I turned 21 in 2008, the first being Prozac, Adderall, and Seroquel. I was only prescribed Seroquel for as long as my doctor wanted to "observe possible Bipolar symptoms".... after about 3 months he took me off Seroquel. After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall.

My doctor seemed to think that the Lamictal was more of the problem, however, and upped my Seroquel dosage. How long have you been taking the medications? My advice is to check online for more info on them (you can just go on Google---there's this site called drugs.com that I found helpful when researching Seroquel) and talk to your doctor after if you think your medication is the problem.

Hi. I've been on Seroquel and then Seroquel XR for about two years now. I was initially prescribed it for bipolar mania, and the resultant insomnia. I have had panic attacks before prior to taking Seroquel, however never constantly, and never for no reason at all. I would have a panic attack after a traumatic event, or when I smoked pot as a teenager, but otherwise I never had them.

Ok , because i was put on seroquel 50 mg and 10 citalopram and where on them for 6 weeks and they did nothing at all, so he upped the seroquel to 100mg and citalopram to 20mg and its been 2 weeks and still nothing , :S

Hello everyone, my first post. I have a multitude of health issues, but I wont post them today!! I was prescribed Geodon 80 mg. today by my Psychiatrist. Ive tried everything out there (some with horrible side effects) so she wants me to try this now. the question I have is this.....I have never had the racing thoughts, the "highs" of bipolar--those symptoms have never been a part of my problem. I'm not taking seroquel for bipolar just for insomnia but found out I'm gaba deficient due to drug use in the past but I really want to know how long these withdrawals will last I only took seroquel 600mg for about 40 days any experiences or a timeline someone can give me it's been about 10 days off the serouqel

One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place. Hello what is your diagnosis if you don't mind me asking? I am on Seroquel XR 300mg aswell as Depakote for Bipolar Disorder. I do know that seroquel is used for depression also. Before I was diagnosed they said I had major depressive disorder with pyschotic features and was given Bipolar type meds.. I wonder if this is the case for you..just wondering?

I have bipolar/panic disorder and every time I took seroquel I had a massive panic attack, ate a lot, then slept for 12+ hours. The longest I have ever slept on seroquel is 72 hours straight... it will knock you out. It also makes you feel sluggish and lethargic throughout the day... not even my Dexedrine helped. I've tried ambien, trazodone, and risperdal for sleep but the best medicine I've found is klonopin.

i've realized on all medications i've been on for my bipolar they work well at first but i slowly become immune i guess cuz they stop working ?? I've been on lithium and seroquel n this old medication for sleeping and this has happened.
