Seroquel dementia

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel dementia

seroquel

Avatar m tn I am on seroquel but also with lamictal 200mg/day -- the combination seems to be helping me without the excess drowsiness or other unpleasant side effects. Eventually the doc says I may be able to get off the seroquel and just keep the lamictal. The fewer number of meds, the better I like it. Always discuss side effects with your doctor and many times he can adjust your dosage or add another med to ease the side effects you are experiencing. No need to suffer any longer.
Avatar m tn My grandmother is taking Diltiazem & Lasix in the morning and Seroquel (low dose) at night. She has become more irritable and seems depressed. Should she stop or reduce her medications?
155056 tn?1333638688 The best thing to do is to have her see a gerontologist who could make a conclusive diagnosis as to whether she has dementia and the cause of the dementia.
Avatar n tn How safe is 200 milligrams of seroquel while pregnant and nursing? Also, is it dangerous to cut the pills in half to take a lesser dose? Or should you cut or break the pills at all?
Avatar f tn We finally found a doctor who says there are 3 groups of seniors, those with dementia, those with dementia and depression and those just with depression and they all need to be treated differently. As we have gotten my mom off of these meds, the hallucinations have stopped. She takes Pamelor for depression and depakote for anxiety.
Avatar f tn My mother-in-law is 81 and there is quite a history of longevity in her family. She has been living on her own since her youngest daughter moved into her own place 25 years ago. A little over 2 months ago, her 92-year-old since became suddenly ill and subsequently passed away. My mother-in-law was able to attend her funeral with us 200 miles away and she was also able to see her sister one last time before she died.
769333 tn?1235214424 Memory clinic dr ordered Exelon patch and 50 mg Seroquel, still did not work. After many sleepless nights and panic .25mg daily of Alprazolam together with 50mg Seroquel helped for a while. Seems whenever there is a change in his daily routines his sleep pattern also changes. (Friend visiting overnite or family get togethers) Seroquel was increased to 100mg. with 1 Alprazolam. His panic worse just before bedtime (10:30pm). Since this all started he has become consumed with urinating.

Avatar m tn The hospitalization was a blessing in disguise as his medications were tweaked (combination of Effexor, Klonapin, Buspar, Remeron combination - with Seroquel removed from the mix). For the first time in 18 months he seemed like his old self. He attended intensive outpatient and continues to attend a group. He even works as a volunteer for a non-profit several months out of the year. However, the stresses of my mother's disease and brother's situation go on.

Avatar n tn Is there any kind of help for people in the first stages of dementia beside Namenda.? Is there anything in the health food stores that can be taken.? And does vitamin B1 help.?
Avatar m tn If anyone in your family has experienced dementia at a young age (before 65), you and other family members may be at increased risk of developing frontal lobe dementia (FTD) – also known as Pick's disease. A new blood test may reveal your specific risk. In 1892, Czechoslovakian neurologist Arnold Pick first documented a type of dementia in which degeneration of cells occurs in the cerebral cortex (the outer layer of the brain) where cognitive and behavioral functions are controlled.
Avatar f tn That's complex. It depends when it first started. Dementia is very clinically specific and only a neurologist could distinguish between that and psychosis though dementia usually involves forgetfulness and memory loss. I do know that elderly relatives I have that were diagnosed with dementia improved with the medication Namenda.
1346447 tn?1327862572 After six months of medicine that problem is over but now she had dementia. Is it possible that dementia may be side effect of medicines? The age of my wife is 70.
Avatar f tn My mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia in October 2015. Her disease has progressed a lot in the last 4 months. I found out recently that one of her sisters also had dementia. My question, am I at a higher risk to get this disease? If so is there a time when symptoms would begin to show in me?
Avatar n tn dementia or alzhemier <can't spell it, can also show the same signs as a reaction to medication, or a different illness that has gone undiagnosed you should talk to that family members doctors. if it is a medication problem it can stop the signs but if it is dementia or alzhiemers then they have medication that can help prolong the person lives and reduce early problems.. but there is no cure at this time.. just don't get angry or overreact..
Avatar f tn I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I can't get into much detail on here, but I really need anyone who has taken Seroquel to PLEASE, post about how it made them feel, if it helped with W/D's? Did it let you fall asleep?
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
518117 tn?1429276273 I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.
