Seroquel and zyprexa together

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and zyprexa together

seroquel

I was on 15mgs of Abilify and 5 mgs of Zyprexa. My got hands got shaky on the Abilify and I was losing sleep on Zyprexa. Now, I am on 10 mgs of each. I am starting the regiment next week. I know it will be better than before because the mgs are balanced.
Namaste, Explanation of the issues (and sequence of events) surrounding the lawsuits that claim that the use of Seroquel, Zyprexa and Risperdal caused health problems such as pancreatitis and diabetes and stroke. Zyprexa, like Risperdal and Seroquel, has been associated with serious side effects in patients, especially those who have already been diagnosed with diabetes.
Having said all this Seroquel has been the most effective drug for me and I have been on Lithium, Sulpiride, Rispiridone, Zyprexa ( huge weight gain and flatness) and various other anti d's. Venlafaxine had me in hospital for a day as I had a kind of fit? horrible!! I don't know about Cymbalta what is its other name?
I'm wondering if it's possible to be able to take Clozaril and Zyprexa together to help control my symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder - Bipolar Subtype?
You will notice tremendous change if you apply the rest of my theory lamictal+seroquel OR abilify+seroquel. Get off this funny zyprexa and valproex seroquel is manufactured by astra zenyca which does 18 bn a year, 4.7 bn out of it is due to seroquel alone. pdocs are more informed than us of course. I bet they never read anything after they leave college all they do they chat only together in conferences or the learn from their mistakes.
i wonder if zyprexa loses its effectiveness, and after reading this forum, i am convinced to search for a new-and-improved anti-psychotic. i have been reading up on seroquel, clozapine, and abilify, in addition to three new ones: ziprasidone, quetiapine, and sertindole. any feedback would be much appreciated.
I have a BP friend that started Seroquel almost a month ago and she is still having sedative side effects. She takes 50mg twice a day and 200mg at bedtime. She is concerned about this side effect continuing and wants to feel peppy in order to start back to work. Will this sleepy side effect subside. She sleeps throughout the day. Thanks!
I am on seroquel 400mg and was given a choice between it and olanzepine. The reason I chose seroquel was that it had less associated weight gain. I first lost weight on it but am now putting in on again, but not dramatically so, which is OK. So it could be a better option for you. I can identify with your feelings of being misdiagnosed.
I was put in risperdal in August 2010, because of a benzo withdrawal, and then on zyprexa, and since then I never feel tired, even if I exercise; I never have the sleepy sensation before the sleep. When I sleep, is like a switch in my brain: something turns off, and I sleep; and when I awake, something is turned on, and I am widely awake. I have no emotions - nothing can excite or depress me. Now I'm tappering the zyprexa very slowly, witth the aprovation of my doctor.
i have been on haldol which was crippling, got off it, then onto risperdal, geodon, and seroquel. the most tolerable is risperdal however i tend to need something to help me get to sleep very badly. i dont fall asleep easily. thats when my psychiatric nurse moved me on to geodon then seroquel along with risperal. both of these i find not very tolerable at all. with seroquel i will sleep very sound though i might suffer some bad hallucinations getting there. and i will oversleep with it.
I have been battling depression and anxiety ever since i was a teenager (I am now 31 years of age). After trying out Paxil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft over the last 5 years (always short term ) and disliking all of them, I have been on Effexor for the past year. I am taking 2 x 37.5 mg a day. Some side effects occured during this time, like increased sweating and sexual dysfunction, but all in all i was content and improved immensely. Also, seeing a therapist helps a lot.
I gained 35 pounds on Zyprexa and it was on that plus a typical antipsychotic that I acquired tardive dyskinesia (but two antipsychotics shouldn't be given together and Zyprexa is no more likely to cause it than others, it does have a strong mood stabilization effect). I did weight on Depakoate and had heavy sedation and cognitive confusion. But some people tolerate it better than I did.
pdocs tell me there is no such thing as therapeutic it depends on the person. i take 50mg seroquel and keeps me lethargic and doesn't remove depression. i can't understand why a 400mg will do the trick as to the AC's i tried tegretol and lamictal, the 1st gave me headaches and te 2nd kind of seizure. I feel not at ease with the drugs in general, feeling drowsy and numb and want to vomit, i.e. in short don't tolerate them.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. He explained sleep is crucial to bipolar disorder and ordered my on the Seroquel until otherwise notified.
Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
My current medications are Effexor XR 225mg, Anafranil 100mg, Klonopin .05mg, Gabitilin 4mg, a beta-blocker Proponol 40mg, and Zyprexa 7.5mg. My question is this too much medicine to be on at one time or is it safe to take this all of this medication together. My symptons were racing anxious thoughts such as; ( I am going to die, I am going to have a heart attack, and OCD thoughts that are repulsive in nature).
I have an two unfilled scrips -- one for Seroquel, and one for Effexor. I still have depression, and now I feel like I've been victimized twice -- once by the lying pharmeceutical companies, and once by my doctor who insists there is NO connection between SSRIs and my chronic diarrhea. I am, to put it bluntly, mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore! Dr. Daniel Amen, of the Amen Clinics, is someone you should check out.
All the web sites I have been to link mental health and well being to the function of the thyroid. I am on zyprexa/celexa combo for the bipolar and synthroid/cytomel for my lack of thyroid.I also have a therapist that works with my med manager and I like to say my bi polar is in remission.I take my meds faithfully now for 6years and that is a bi polar record. Let me know if I can be of any help cause I have been there where you are and I understand. Prayers and hugs for you.
do your research on google my wife and I where recently taken off risperdaul again considered non addicting it was 3 weeks of hell and my wife is still having side effects where talking no sleep for 15 days then broken sleep with cunvulsion like awaking every 30 min it was miserable stuff coming off these meds need to be tapered az mental healthcare cut the budget and cut my wife off C/T we took what little meds I had diveded them into 2 and went off together was no fun at all if you can get a
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
Eventually, I was so sick of the side-effects of the bipolar meds (Zyprexa, Abilify, and Prozac cocktail at that time) that I took myself off them and suffered the worse withdrawal period of my life... and I'm a recovered heroin addict. When I was finally through the withdrawals from those medications which made me dysfunctional beyond my normal episodes of depression and hypomania, I obviously did not feel good.
who decided this? I take 25mg seroquel only and probably i am older than your son. Again zyprexa and seroquel are both atypical antipsychotics so why combining both?. the therapeutic dose of seroquel is 400 and the max dose of zyprexa i remember 20 if i am not mistaken and the minimum is 5. the valporate dose is 750-1500. still who can tell which is which except a pdoc ONLY. I know it looks like trial and error sometimes, but no one here is supposed to advise.
Life has been one hell of a roller coaster, but in this time I have managed to graduate college and an MBA, secure and maintain a well-paying and fulfilling business career and marry the love of my life (and hang on to her thus far). I have seen 3 different family doctors, 2 different psychiatrists and 1 endocrinologist...
While OCD and Bipolar can occur together as can ADHD and BP I think its important to seperate the behaviour from the diagnosis lest you fall into the trap that many GP's and Family Docs do by hearing hoofbeats and thinking zebras.
Now, at 37, it has moved into mixed episodes, three days sky high, three days way low, over and over or, manic and depressive symptoms simultaneously. When they are together, I have the hyperactivity, racing thoughts, and insomnia of mania, but the content of the racing thoughts are very negative and can fall into the realm of delusional. Luckily, this doesn't happen often, but this new symptom has become a problem - irritability. It is unlike normal or even PMS irritability.
I think I am done with the lithium fight for now and she can just continue with the seroquel, zyprexa and risperidone. She has another Dr. appointment, next week and I just put a call in to the Dr. to let her know what is going on. I also made sure to mention that I want her to try the Lamictal even though I was told by her that it is not helpful for acute mania.
Sometimes people will have depressive and manic symptoms all mushed together, such that they are miserable and agitated and grandiose and terrified either all at once or in rapid succession. Many patients with bipolar disorder do not respond well to the types of antidepressants you have tried but do much better on drugs known as mood stabilizers.
She's now on her 2nd pregnancy, and both times has taken a low dose of seroquel and zyprexa throughout her pregancies - both of which are class c medications with no proven harm to the baby. Also, my sis had her zyprexa doubles from 5mg to 10mg immediately post natal, which reduces the risk of a depression or psychosis. She has been fine, and managed to breast feed also, though she did have to take her meds at certain times, and express night feeds.
My psychiatrist suggested I take either Lamictal, Saphris or Seroquel and he gave me some brochures to read before i make a decision. He has never told me what type of bipolar he thinks i have he just always says "Bipolar spectrum disorder". From those medications are you able to tell how severe or what type (1 or 2) I have?
