Seroquel and zolpidem

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and zolpidem

seroquel

Avatar f tn It affects my life, I fall asleep in the morning hours and sleep well into the afternoon. I currently take 200-300 mg trazodone, 1.5-2 mg clonazepam, and 10-20 mg zolpidem. What else is there for insomnia? I was on 100mg seroquel for insomnia. I hate the way it makes me feel; but it does work. I am now going back and forth with the pharmacy that dispenses the seroquel; I get mine through the AZandMe free meds program.
1564517 tn?1314346323 I recently had to switch my med doctor because of my age. I have really bad insomnia and have all my life. I'm usually okay once asleep but I cant fall asleep on my own. I was put on 100mg on seroquel but it was reduced overtime because it was causing me to sleep too much, uncontrollably. I now take 25mg at night. But it still takes around 3 hours after I take it before I fall asleep. Well the other day my new doctor put me on 10mg of Zolpidem to take at night with the seroquel....
Avatar m tn I absolutely hate Zolpidem and have been practically begging my doctor to switch me to brand name Ambien which he refused because he says its very addicting. By the way, this is the same man that has me on 16 mg of Suboxone a day??? What he did after refusing baffled me even further. He prescribed me Seroquel ( 100 mg ). When I did the 30 day treatment thing a year ago, they had me on 400mg of Seroquel. I hated the way it made me feel. It however was affective, but only for a week.
329165 tn?1515471990 About a month ago I decided to destroy all my sleeping medication and Endep and after 3 days of not sleeping and feeling very happy about it! I went to the Doctor as I also had an over-active tummy and got diagnosed with having Bipolar Disorder and that was hyper-mania. I am now on 1200mg Valproate and took 25-75mg Seroquel but at some stage I felt really sleepy during the day and the Doctor stopped that, so now I was ordered to only take the Valproate. I still can not sleep at night.
Avatar m tn I have been off the Klonopin since 3/20/2009 and since 3/20 if have been taking Seroquel. I did not experience seizures since I stop Klonopin but after I stop Klonopin and switched to Seroquel there are nights I can't sleep... it's been like when I had a good sleep last night the next night I can't sleep. I am also experiencing muscle jerk and back pain. Do you think these are Klonopin withdrawals?
Avatar n tn d go straight into a panic so they started me on zolpidem 10 at night. I have been on it for 18 months now and zolpidem does not work, and I don't want to take more, so will try wean off that, but I know what will happen, back to adrenalin rushes...plus Xanax seems to have no effect, but if I don't take it, I know I have'nt, if that makes sense. Am I on too much here?
Avatar f tn I also take gabapentin. Three weeks ago I stopped temazepam and tramadol. I am taking zolpidem every night now and continue gabapentin 3x a day. I don't crave either of the meds I quit, but I have been experiencing inability to concentrate, ringing in my ears, vomiting, blurry vision, sweating, confusion, anxiety and mood swings. The symptoms wax and wane and I can't find a pattern. The seem to occur as a cluster, meaning all symptoms occur together and come on suddenly.
Avatar n tn Hey Via, I too have been a long time user of zolpidem and even abused it when I was w/d ing from opiates (big mistake btw). For me when I stopped and I've done this several times thru-out the years. I get 3 nights of very little sleep then my body goes back to normal. It is nothing like coming off of pain meds. You just have resign yourself that sleep will not be good for a few nights, but it will kick back in. Hope this helps. You may want to ask your Dr. about weaning.
18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
Avatar m tn I have suffered from insomnia for about 3 years now and have tried trazadone and zolpidem tartrate. I am currently on zolpidem 10 mg. I do not have trouble maintaining sleep just onset. Usually this occurs 3-4 nights a week and can lay awake for 2-4 hours before falling asleep. This causes me to be extremely tired the next day. I really avoid taking naps and can "power" through the day only to feel wide awake come bed time around 11-12 pm.
574118 tn?1305135284 drugs (Ambien or Lunesta), whose generics are zolpidem and zopiclone. Some people take a low dose of Seroquel or trazodone to sleep, and they aren't habit forming. Some people take benzos, but there's more of a risk of dependence with those.
Avatar m tn I took a few days 10 mg of zolpidem for sleep (from the doctor) and now my head is terrible you think it would go by itself?I have terrible insomnia and i don't know is very unpleasent and makes me very lethargic in motion.
Avatar f tn s something you can stop CT or if you need to taper. Best to ask your doctor or pharmacist. I was on it for years, and I did stop CT and used melatonin and Allteril instead. I actually find the Allteril works better for sleep than the Ambien did.
Avatar n tn Despite being a small, thin woman, I take 60 mgs of Remeron, 60 mg of Buspar, and 15 mg of zolpidem a day for depression, GAD, and severe insomnia (I was hospitalized 3 weeks this past summer for insomnia, and left the hospital taking 25 mgs of zolpidem with 100 mg Seroquel per night, but have gotten down to 15 mgs and cut out the Seroquel).
Avatar n tn Hi, Some newer medications like Zolpidem (Ambien) act more specifically on the same area in the brain and are thought to have fewer side effects. But they are still considered controlled substances. Sleep medications are most effective when used for short term situations. If medications are used over the long term, dependence and tolerance may be a problem. Talk to your doctor if you are not responding to the lower dose of your present medication and discuss what suitable medicine for you.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Insomnia is a side effect of Amitriptyline. But you may develop tolerance to this effect. However if it persists, discuss your symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?
Avatar f tn The attack triggered my fligh/fight nervous system and I was placed on several tranquilizers and sedatives over several months. seroquel was one of the options and was used for 8 days to lessen brain activity. Currently I am using lorazepam and zolpidem for the last couple of months (4-5). I think this history to be important. I felt ashamed and disappointed in myself after the sex and and visited the doctor the following day after I slept with my friend.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I found these drugs that could possibly help. I use zolpidem and it seems to help and am trying to get restoril. This disease is destroying my career and life. Thanks very much! Acetazolamide (Diamox): Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that causes bicarbaturia and metabolic acidosis, which presumably shifts the apneic threshold of PaCO2 to a lower level.
Avatar f tn I had been on klonopil and celextra for 4 years, after a bad pannic attack, every time i wanted to came off the pills the symptoms where back, so my gp kept prescribing it, i was for about 2 years on a dose of 2.0 then lowered to 1.50 the last 18 months, i begun to notice that i was loosing my short memory, so i decided to stop it lowering again the dose to a 1.0, it made me slepp so well, the problems begun when i was taking 0.
663901 tn?1232649671 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
Avatar f tn Since seroquel can cause high BG you sure your diabetic and not as a result of seroquel raising your BG? Go to Google and put seroquel into the serch field.
Avatar f tn I USE THE GENERIC WHICH IS CALLED ZOLPIDEM HERE IN EUROPE AND IT IS OVAL AND WHITE. SAME AS THE OLDER FORM CALLED STILNOCHT HERE. I ALSO TAKE A LORAMET WITH IT TO SLEEP. ASK YOUR DR IF YOU COULD HAVE DEVELOPED A TOLERANCE TO THE ZOLPIDEM? GOOD LUCK AND IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO SLEEP.
