Seroquel and wellbutrin together

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and wellbutrin together

seroquel

I've been on allot of medications for bi-polar, including lithium (which gravely affected my stomache), but now I'm on lexapro, seroquel, and temazapan. The seroquel with the temazapan helps me to sleep well, and I don't go thru the tremendous effects of anxiety (expecially when you feel like you are losing your breath with no known reason to do so), but I have gained allot of weight, and I don't eat that much. I have read that seroquel is not all that good.
My daughter also has bipolar and adhd and she takes wellbutrin and finds it fantastic. Honestly lithium just made me worse so do try to get to a psychaiatrist as the new generation drugs like seroquel and wellbutrin will jump start your life again and give you hope for your future.-Much love and please ask for help.
I have a BP friend that started Seroquel almost a month ago and she is still having sedative side effects. She takes 50mg twice a day and 200mg at bedtime. She is concerned about this side effect continuing and wants to feel peppy in order to start back to work. Will this sleepy side effect subside. She sleeps throughout the day. Thanks!
Hi - I have a pretty extensive background, but will try to make this as short & easy to comprehend as possible. I'm a 33 year old single mom who has struggled with "mental issues" for many years. At the age of 15 I was placed on Prozac for depression. Over the next 15 years I tried Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, and several others.
Lithium and Seroquel together have made the best I have ever been, found risperdal wasn't good for me it gave me bad insomnia. Seroquel is the opposite and makes me sleep but i like that as i think sleep is good for your health rather than insomnia. I am still looking for that pill which makes me back to normal though. I would ask your doctor why he don't want you on seroquel and tell him/her that it has really helped you.
The 2nd time I was home and after hospitalization and exhaustive tests there was no doubt it was the Wellbutrin. In their TV ads for Wellbutrin the manufacture now mentions seisures as one of the main side effects. I did lose some weight and at 55 my libido went through the roof. Thoses side effects were great :-) But the seisures caused me untold grief with the Motor Vehicle Department.
Also, I noticed some take the Wellbutrin and the Abilify together. I told him that the Wellbutrin probably helped me more than other drug in the past but he said its not a good idea if you are BiPolar to take an anit-depressant because it could destabilize you further...but also that if he were 100% sure I WAS BiPolar he would just talk me into Lithium. (My uncle died at age 38 from Lithium toxicity so I am not too keen on that one) Thanks in advance for any comments!
Use of Effexor is controversial as many psychiatrists say it helps, but the research is leaning towards it causing an escalation of episodes causing rapid cycling in people with bipolar. I was rapid cycling and on Wellbutrin. Once they removed the Wellbutrin the rapid cycling slowed down tremendously. I had to fight to be removed from it though, my psychiatrist didn't think it was a good idea. Meds though are 60% of the fight the other 40% is learning to manage your condition.
I have tried Cipralex, Efexor, Fluanxol, Xanor (Xanax), Rivotril, Seroquel, Ritalin, Wellbutrin, Esperide. All had horrible side effects and and had to stop and try something else. I am currently taking Valdoxane and Molipaxin, but feel completely detached and unemotional, which is a problem as I have been married 9 months and my wife is 7 months pregnant. My doctor hads taken my off Molipaxin and prescribed me Lyrica to take in conjunction with Voldoxane.
I have been to counceling it doesn't help, I have been married twice once to an abusive man, i also felt like my life was over, menapause is doing havic on me feel like i don't know what is up or done, luckily i have a very loving man in my life and we built a home together and have been living together for 8 yrs it is working great, I am 54 and don't want to get married again, it works for us.
My best friend is on the Wellbutrin and a small amount of the Zoloft and she is feeling ok except for headaches. She eventually wants to get completely off the Zoloft and just do the Wellbutrin. If you take alot of meds together the harder it is to figure out what is right and what is messing you up.
I have been battling depression and anxiety ever since i was a teenager (I am now 31 years of age). After trying out Paxil, Wellbutrin and Zoloft over the last 5 years (always short term ) and disliking all of them, I have been on Effexor for the past year. I am taking 2 x 37.5 mg a day. Some side effects occured during this time, like increased sweating and sexual dysfunction, but all in all i was content and improved immensely. Also, seeing a therapist helps a lot.
I read side effets of drugs like Depakote, Lamactil, Abilify and Seroquel and blanch and yet people who look at Lithium see it as scary... May be that I am biased because it works for me but its nothing to be scared of.
T4 remain normal) b/c of impending kidney damage. Since 1992 I've been pretty stable on 1250 mg Depakote and 400 mg Wellbutrin, to which Celexa was added briefly when my mother was ill & dying in 2000. D/C'd the celexa/lexapro recently and last year added mirtazepine at bedtime. Great sleep and some pain reduction for the fibro, too. Mostly I take Advil (occasionally Tylenol-3 PRN) for the meandering pain & stiffness.
actually, I forgot to mention that she does have ADD. can't even read a book. but I've been on Seroquel, too, and it made me crave sugar and I gained a lot of weight. but everyone is different, ya kno? But thanks a lot still! I don't know too well how it worked for sure- maybe she needed a better combo or a higher dosage?
I've been on around 50 diff psycho drugs since the 90's. the only one my wife and kids said made me better was wellbutrin. I lost 30lbs, bought a couple more cheap rentals and remodeled them, but eventually it quit working and the weight and laziness/depression returned. Been off all psycho meds since 2009, opiates helped a bit when i quit AD's and skitzo meds.
pdocs tell me there is no such thing as therapeutic it depends on the person. i take 50mg seroquel and keeps me lethargic and doesn't remove depression. i can't understand why a 400mg will do the trick as to the AC's i tried tegretol and lamictal, the 1st gave me headaches and te 2nd kind of seizure. I feel not at ease with the drugs in general, feeling drowsy and numb and want to vomit, i.e. in short don't tolerate them.
I was already on Wellbutrin 150 mg twice a day and a diet, by the way,and struggling with depression over my weight. Two years later, I am at 200 mg per day of Topomax, headache free with no change in the flavor that I can apprciate. I am also wearing a size 6 working to a size 4. One caution. If you have anorexic tendencies, as I do, be very careful. I forget to eat, don't want to eat, strive for that smaller size, although everyone tells me that that is enough weight loss.
I’m not into whining but I am into reality and the reality is that I’m having a really bad day. I feel anxious and confused along with having an undefined feeling of sadness. I’m having as little interactions with people as possible. A racing mind is not conducive to intelligent conversation. I can’t even get my thoughts together to say everything I want to. Maybe later, maybe tomorrow, maybe…….
heya, Glad I came across this community, enjoyed reading some of the posts, helpful info for sure. Currently I am taking Wellbutrin XL, topamax, Lamictal, and Xanax (for sleep) and have been feeling desperate on what to try next for my Bipolar. I started on meds over 10 years ago when I was "diagnosed" (although not told with that terminology", then put eventually on Seraquel, Zoloft, Prozac, Buspar, Celexa......
I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
The depression came back this winter and I convinced her to upping the Wellbutrin just the other day. She thinks it's just winter and wants to lower the dose when spring comes. We'll see. We'll see if it triggers any mixed states or mania. We'll see if I can lower the dose in spring. Anyway...I think bipolar is spectrum...it manifests in many ways...and it likely progresses over time. So it's silly for the DR to be hung up on the lack of one symptom.
I take a very long time to understand concepts that would have been picked up immediately in the time before the symptoms of bipolar started appearing. It scares me. I'm on lamotrigine at the moment, as well as Wellbutrin and Seroquel. I've started to become more stable, but I'm afraid that this will be as good as it gets. When properly managed, would these symptoms completely die down for some periods of time? Is it possible for me to ever get my mind back to the way it was before?
Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
I have an two unfilled scrips -- one for Seroquel, and one for Effexor. I still have depression, and now I feel like I've been victimized twice -- once by the lying pharmeceutical companies, and once by my doctor who insists there is NO connection between SSRIs and my chronic diarrhea. I am, to put it bluntly, mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore! Dr. Daniel Amen, of the Amen Clinics, is someone you should check out.
I have been taking Zoloft, Wellbutrin, and Clonazepam for quite awhile. I was on Seroquel for about a year, but I developed the twitching side effects which have not gone away despite not taking the meds anymore. The doc put me on Abilify, but I asked to stop it because it was way too expensive (over $600 a month) and made me nauseated. Now I am on Pristiq, I don't feel like it's doing any better. I am gaining weight pretty fast and I need to change things so I can hopefully reverse it.
Hi I'm 25 female and I have been told by my doctor that i have a panic disorder. I am always lightheaded and feeling dizzy. I feel like I could pass out at any second. This is ruining my life. Im scared to do anything alone. I cant go to a grocery store, mall, nothing. I am too scared that I'm going to pass out and I have tried to overcome it but I cant. As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back.
2.)Dependence and tolerance- Are you against SSRI's? SSNRIs? Trycyclics, wellbutrin? Tolerance, dependence and withdrawal are a fact of life for these, not to mention BENZOS. Also, let's make a distinction between popping Vicodins or Heroin, and the controlled use of a PARTIAL AGONIST such as buprenorphine. Bupe is meant to be used long term (though for maintenance in 'addicts') and has minimal tolerance/withdrawal. Also very importantly, Bupe is also a Kappa opiate receptor antagonist.
I have read that the test can be a false positive due to medications and he is on 5 medications right now. (Klonopin, Wellbutrin, Gabapentin, Seroquel and Lithium) That is what I am hoping it is. But I can't just not worry about it. I don't understand how they can tell you not to worry about it. How many people have a false positive result? They say they get a lot, well how much is "a lot?" He is 49 years old. Will his life be shortened if he started having symptoms now?
