I have looked into these types of Meds to counteract the weight gain and I am interested in seeing how it would help. I don't have any issue with taking another med, especially if it were to stop the weight gain.. it's a serious problem as for me the ones that don't make you gain weight are never effective! I am tall and used to be naturally slim, I could eat what I want but now I don't seem to eat much at all and have still put on weight, I exercise on a treadmill asawell.

My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!

I was on Seroquel for almost 10 years and it definately helped initially to sleep and cure my insomnia (well, not naturally I guess) plus, being a red-eye flying flight attendand I've needed the extra help and it always did the trick, but I varied the doses depending on my layover sleep.

Right now I am manic with mixed states and rapid cycling. seroquel takes care of that. I saw my pdoc as i was convinced that it's time to add a mood stabilizer like the usual therapy. Back in time, I didn't tolerate neither tegretol nor lamictal. what is left is lithium or valproate. of course there are less famous drugs like trileptal, topamax,..... i took 2 pills of lithium and i had serious insomnia for 2 days, intolerable, dry mouth,...the usual.

I have like 9 diagnoses... but I identify mostly as a borderline bipolar. I'm on Xanax, seroquel, and topamax. I cut out Xanax but I'm scared to get off my other two. I am impressed, however, as to how much you know about yours. I am on Risperidone, Lamictal, Trazadone, Topamax, and many vitamins. I started out on just the Lamictal, Trazadone, and Vistarel. I am now concerned with the lack of knowledge I have about my new medicines (Risperidone, Topamax). They weren't explained to me very well and my moods are so out of wack I can not tell what the effect of them are. I hope everything works out for you....good luck.

I have been taking a number of medications since I turned 21 in 2008, the first being Prozac, Adderall, and Seroquel. I was only prescribed Seroquel for as long as my doctor wanted to "observe possible Bipolar symptoms".... after about 3 months he took me off Seroquel. After years of continued difficulty with bouts of depression, anger/irritability, sleep, I saw a new doctor in 2015 who prescribed Abilify 5mg along with Adderall.

It sounds like theyve got you a nice little three course meal of pills all worked out there. Are they giving any of those to you specificaly for sleep? Im unmedicated i dont keep up with the **** they dish out to people so i apologise.

I was back in the hospital a few months after first being prescribed this, along with seroquel and ativan for panic and anxiety. That's not what makes this medicine so undesirable though. With each dose increase, I had numbness in my legs and arms. This could continue for as long as 2 weeks after a dose increase. The reason for the weight loss is because I just wouldn't eat. Nothing sounded good, nothing tasted good, and I felt just generally unwell.

in 2 months on Depakote and Seroquel. Am now on 200mg Lamictal and 20mg Lexapro and have lost 17 lbs. in 2 months. And the new drugs are working much better for me in controlling my bp symptoms. No need to suffer with unpleasant side effects. Each person reacts to the meds differently, so please have your son see his doctor, preferably a psychiatrist (specialist) who can prescribe alternative meds more suited to your son.

Personaly, I take abilify and lamictal. They are both mood stabilizers and they help me with sleeping, racing thoughts, anxiety, and they seem to make my mood swings not last as long. I still have some problems with depression and agitation, but overall I am doing better. I hope you find the right medication for you!

I have been on Seroquel for over 2 years and it really has been my bestfriend. I have just added Latuda to the mix and take them both at night with a whopping 300 calorie snack. That is because of the Latuda. Have to take that stuff with food. I was wondering about asking my doctor to add a little topomax to my diet. I know that it's a weight loss pill in addition to other things, I gained quite a lot of weight recently due to quitting smoking and my metabolism has COMPLETELY stopped!!

I've been on Topamax for over a year, it's okay, it takes patience and you have to be committed. I don't understand how you can be on this drug and smoke weed? That's amazing, because once you get the full blast of this drug, the side effects are not cool, so with the weed smoking on top of it, you'll loose your mind... talk about panic attacks! Everybody is different and responds to medication differently. The best and most all-around useful mood stabilizer for me has been Topamax. It is an anti-convulsant, also indicated for propylaxis of migraines (which I also have). The great side effect, if you're overweight, is WEIGHT LOSS. Be careful, though. I've lost 54 lb. in 10 months; now underweight and have continued to lose, in spite of attempts to gain.

I'm maxed out on Lithium and Cymbalta. Also taking Lamictal - Trazadone, seroquel or valium as needed. During a recent extended hypo-manic state the doc asked me to try topomax. i've tried an array of other medications that I've not been able to tolerate. I have friends using the med for migraine control and have had kidney stones which they beieve is a result of the medication. I gained 30 lbs in 2 months on depakote -- doc took me off it and now on Lamictal and Lexapro. No problems so far, I'm feeling OK, and have lost 24 lbs in 3 months, still losing weight.
