Seroquel and opiates

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and opiates

seroquel

ONE of the concerns I have about it, is blood pressure. Seroquel can raise your blood pressure greatly and b/c of this, you should take yours before taking a dose...on top of this, w/d seems to raise the bp too. Again, this is just ONE of my concerns...
Seroquel is one of the 'atypical antipsychotics' that came out about ten years ago. They were first used for serious mental illness like schizophrenia, and then for bipolar disorder, and then for the thing we 'call' bipolar in children, that really isn't bipolar disorder.
well after feeling terrible for months after getting clean i tired a couple anti depressants (cymbalta and efferor xr) both made me feel sick. so im trying seroquel now, day 2 and im calm for the first time in months. im also going to try prozac with the seroquel. hoepfuly a couple months of this combo will settle my unsettled brain and i can quit them both? anyone had any experience with seroquel?
So i am day 10 of being sober off of a 6 year vicodin habit of 40 tabs of 750mg a day and cant get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck.
Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates). Please explore this option with your parents' help. I know we help many people get clean and stay clean, At home, the basic technique is to take less and less every day by cutting down by about half a pill every one or two days until you are down to nothing.
It has worked WONDERS for me and I am now on day 20 without opiates and I feel great. Best person to ask would be your doctor though hun. Good luck!
approx ) When he got onto the suboxone about 5 weeks ago, his libido came back with a vengeance. Now he's on 12 mg of sub, about 20 mg of klonopin, and 75 mg of seroquel. Can someone please tell me what this combination of drugs does to a person's sex drive? Suddenly, he seems completely uninterested, again. Can loss of libido happen that quickly after switching drugs and coming off of so much?
My doc put me on Seroquel and Envega as nothing else would work. I have been able to come down a couple of 100 mgs of Seroquel, so I am on 300 extended release of Seroquel at night along with 3 mgs of Envega as well at night. I get up at 5 and read and do Tai Chi exercises. But I am SO doped up till noon/1:00 pm that I have to take a nap around 8 a.m. I then don't have the strength to hardly get off the couch and I have NO drive to do anything till late afternoon when I start to feel better.
Hello. I have been using opiates and benzos and Soma for 10 years now. I have to get off of them but I do not know how. I tried a rehab but they didn't help. They said I was detoxed after 7 days and I cannot see how. I know they gave me Subutex, Seroquel, Dilantin, Folic Acid and a whole bunch of other stuff. This was a 28 day deal. I have tried myself a few times but when the withdrawal starts to set in, I go back. I am lost. I have no idea of how to get off of them.
Once I voluntarily withdrew from opiates and began therapy....all that is GONE. AND I MEAN I FEEL WORSE THAN I EVER HAVE. My phychiatrist has tried zyprexa, seroquil, nuerontin....im already on xanax and have been for about four years....but I feel like I am going crazy. Nothing helps me feel any joy even though I do take celexa as well.
I also think that the reason out of all the other drugs I tried I fell in lobe with opiates was becuz of my depression and anxiety. It was the only drug that for awhile made me happy That was however short lived and it turned into a living nigjtmere. I pray for the both of us that our lives reach the happiness we once had.
See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin is a great help for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose for sleep. Clonidine regulates blood pressure, creepy-crawly feeling and will make withdrawals easier. Please don't start taking the opiates again as it will only throw you back into withdrawals once you stop again, or make you relapse.
This time around though I have been on seroquel, lexapro , and lamictal for my recently diagnosed bipolar. So I'm hoping that being on them will be my saving grace. What do u think? I am going to pray for the will power to taper. I have no choice or I might as well flush my life down the toilet.!!
However, although my life span is limited due to the severity of my conditions, I am concerned about the long term effect of opiates on all the body systems, especially hormone suppression. . Anyway, I saw my APRN PCP today and I wanted to do a more rapid taper but she convinced me with the fragiity of my health I need to plan a 6+ month taper. The initial fentanyl reduction was from 200 ug to 175, however, I am very sensitive to any reduction.
In the meantime see if a doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. i'm currently on day 2 of not doing any opiates and last night was awful and i feel awful today as well. therefore i'm thinking about doing maybe 10mg, and then 5mg for a couple days? the medication i take that is prescribed for anxiety/depression/sleep is Effexor (SNRI), Seroquel 300 mg at night which has been reduced because it was setting off really bad RLS. so i take 150 mg currently, as well as 300mg of Neurontin.
This includes drugs such as tramadol (Ultracet and Ultram) codeine (Tylenol #3, #4), Darvocet, Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and derivatives), Oxycodone (Endocet, Percocet, Oxycontin), Morphine, Demerol. Fentanyl, and Dilaudud. There are many other opiates not listed, so if you don’t see it listed, you can still use these suggestions if it’s an opiate based addiction. None of these apply to benzodiazepine based addictions. These addictions should never be dealt with by going cold turkey.
Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?

I became very ashamed of myself and voweled to never steal again. And I haven't since! A month ago, I got sick with Gastris and couldn't keep anything down. I was so miserable! All I wanted was to feel normal again. It wasn't about getting high anymore. Now I'm at about 2-4 10mg tablets a day. But when I don't have the med, I feel extremely restless and nervous. I'm at the point where I know I need to quick but can't handle being sick from withdrawals.
After that, I just had to find opiates to feel normal. After trying to quit for a whole year cold turkey and contemplating suicide when the withdrawl was at its worst, I decided methadone would be better than death. So I have been on methadone for the past 5 years and have gotten my life on track. I dont do ANY drugs, inlcluding alcohol and I have passed every drug test at my clinic since my admission date.
But I do try to stay clean for at least a week or two. I also take 400mg of seroquel, 150mg of lyrica and 1 mg clonazapam every night. Could these meds possibly have an effect on my withdrawal symptoms?? Im just curious about the withdrawals. Could it be possible that I may have no withdrawal symptoms from coming off 360mg a day of ms contin ?? I take the medication daily and have been taking it daily for over 2 years. Any info on this will be greatly appreciate.

I am not sure that you should be stopping your Gabapentin and you are not on high dose of opiates to have a lot of withdrawal symptoms if you simply gently taper them down half a oil a day or very other day until you are left with only one at night, till threre is none.

and continually asking myself if I have given an ample amount of time for all these messed up neural pathways to actually BE BETTER? I don't know. I KNOW I cannot take opiates for my pain....and I KNOW my anxiety will eat my lunch and keep ringin the "chemical relief" bell.... I'm sorry to run off at the mouth about this....but you and I are pretty close to the same amount of time clean....I don't feel like I'm equipped enough yet to decide anything yet.....should I wait longer?

It is specific to neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain doesn't respond well to opiates and typical pain control. 3. It can always be a flare, but are there any new symptoms? If not, it could be just "breakthrough pain" and you wil have to get it under control. Ask your neurologist what they think. 4. Give your doc a call. 5. If you have any spasticity and you have spinal lesions, the odds are good that it may be MS hug.
