Seroquel and methadone

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and methadone

seroquel

If it were me, i would take up to 30 mg of diazepam instead of the seroquel.....and read the post above concerning one individuals experience with seroquel......lots of natural things that do work also. Check out the amino acid protocol and the Thomas Recipe posted at bottom right of page.
What, or how will I feel coming off methadone and go on subbtex can I just got on them soon as poss or will I have to do a detoxs first? Will they offer me any other medicine to do this??
This is my first time to this site, but I was wondering, my dr is putting me on suboxone this Friday, he couldn't do it last visit because I had methadone in my system and I've heard how it would put you into immediate withdrawals after taking it so, my dr prescribed me a few meds to get me by until Friday when he can give me the script for suboxone, in the mean time the Seroquel XR 150 mg was helping me very well to sleep, but now it's like I'm not even taking it at all, can anyone explain to m
I am going to switch to methadone for as short as possible time ánd the plan is to use clonidine when I stop taking methadone. Can I use this in combimation with seroquel? Also, do you have a suggestion how much clonidinebI should take and for how long? As far as I know, I should take it for a week with a man of 1,3 per day and after a week build it off in 3 days. I am using half a gram per day. How much methadone should I take. The plan is to lowwer the dosis with 5 mg. Per day.
I was put on Seroquel XR and could not tolerate it... I couldn't get up in the morning, driving was iffy and I was constantly tired throughout the day.. I'm back on a regular dose of 200mg/night (I take this drug specifically because it helps me sleep, otherwise I can't sleep). The suggestion of breaking out the dose throughout the day seems like it may be worth a try.....
I have heard of people switching from Methadone to Suboxone. It really needs to be done under a doctors care. I think you have to be below 30 mg and stop taking the Methadone for almost 5 days. I was prescribed Seroquel while on Suboxone. All of these drugs are super strong, so please do this under a doctors care.
it was 25mgs for 3 months, then moved to 50mgs and so on until i was at 200mgs, i understand why you were perscribed 150mgs for methadone detox that makes sense, 25mgs is not going to help someone coming off of methadone, but i am not sure why he is using the ex, its common tx to use seroquel for methadone detox, and it works great for wd symptoms, but if you stay on it you will gain so much weight, thats what i hate about this medication, it can be so helpful but the side effects are very bad

So I have been on methadone for the past 5 years and have gotten my life on track. I dont do ANY drugs, inlcluding alcohol and I have passed every drug test at my clinic since my admission date. I have straight A's at a university and was recently inducted into the honors society. I have a great home and a wonderful fiance. I made a very poor decision to start using opiates in the first place but I have done everything in my power to get my life turned around.
I have been on methadone for 90 days, I take 100 mg every other day. How long and how server will my withdrawals be, if I go cold turkey and stop.
I applaud your resolve to get clean, but want to caution you that methadone is a long acting narcotic and your withdrawal symptoms will stick around for quite a while. You will feel rotten for as long as four to six weeks. You may want to switch to something shorter acting, talk to your doctor about it, and taper off of that. There is really no easy way of detoxing from home. I have dealt with hundreds of addicts who have all told me horror stories of doing it by themselves.
Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient from methadone or any other opiate and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates). You will probably need an antidepressant such as a Prozac for after detox to prevent post acute withdrawal depression, which you are most likely prone to.
See if this doctor can write you a prescription for some Gabapentin for anxiety and general malaise, Requip for restlessness, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose 25-50mg for sleep. It will make withdrawals easier. You can try ibuprofen 600mg for pain. Please don't start taking the any opiates again as it will only throw you back into withdrawals once you stop again, or make you relapse.
Hey, I'm Karefree and going thru the methadone withdrawals, too, I've loaded up with juices, vitamins, the will to get thru the day without using, You really have to be strong-willed and determined to beat this sh** A lot of water to get rid of the toxins and showers!!
I'm in my 6th mo on Methadone at 130mg and I sleep and nod all day and go home and sleep all night and I am not using other meds. I know my dose is to high causing this and i am lowering it now. Does your b/f have any trouble speaking when he looks pie eyed. When I took to much soma it affected my speech and I would stumble around some. Make sure you get more than 2 or 3 words out of him and see how it sounds. If he is using lets get him back to the good person he was and not hang him here.
Is seroquel a benzo?? I heard that in low dose prescription it is used for sleep and higher doses it is used for bi-bolar disorder. I've been taking it off and on for 4yrs and it's prescribed for sleep for me. Maybe a good question would be... is this medication prescribed to you?

I was wondering if maybe the serquel(sp) just 50 mg can be doing this? T want to take methadone for bi-polar. If you are still visiting this site, feel free to message me and I can go over things that have helped me (being I was diagnosed bi-polar manic depressive).
The seroquel seems to be working very well - I was starting w/d last night and w/in 30mins of taking seroquel I was able to sleep a whole 8hrs - but I'm worried it's b/c I still had sub in my system.
c o m . and you will find much info as this doctor is a recovering methadone addict,he's been there, done that and has very good advice .good luck.
I am on 35mg of Methadone a day and about level out at 40mg. However, I get muscle spasms all the time and they are annoying. I also get dizzyness a lot as if I'm going to pass out. Could this be from the methadone? Most of the spasms that I have heard of are only relating to withdrawals. At night when I wake up from sleeping and go to sit on the side of the bed and end up dozing back off I get like an electrical shock that jolts me awake suddenly! It's kind of scary actually.

I was an opiate addict for about 4 years, and nowI've been taking 30-40 mg of methadone a day for the past 4-5 years. I began the weaning process last September and now I comfortably take 2.5 mg every 5 days. Yesterday would have been the fifth day but I thought I felt good enough to skip it so I did, but last night I immediately felt the withdrawals and barely slept. I know it is such a low dose, but any suggestions on the best way to wean off now?
