Seroquel and geodon together

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and geodon together

seroquel

Avatar f tn My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!
Avatar f tn I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications. I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit. I wish you the best on your med transitions.
Avatar f tn Saw pdoc Friday and started geodon 20mg x 2 a day, total 40mg. I had a splitting headache last night. Today have been off, stomach queezy, two times the headache came up and I took acetamiaphine. Now at bedtime I am ready to get sick to my stomach and feel awful. Does it react this fast or am I starting the flu? Anyone experience this, this fast?
Avatar f tn I then took Seroquel for several years and my weight stayed stable, but still overweight 60 lbs. I then took Geodon (Zeldox) and within a year I had lost 30 lbs without changing anything in my diet or exercise. For the first 10 months I felt great. I had so much more energy, I felt like I was coming out of a long period of being a zombie. Unfortunately I had to stop Geodon because it started causing anxiety.
Avatar n tn I began taking atypical antipsychotics just over a year ago, and stopped just over a month ago. I have been on Risperdal, Abilify, Seroquel, Zyprexa, and Geodon, in that order. Risperdal caused me to have a grand mal seizure. I was only on it for a month or so, and I was taking a fairly low dose (I don't remember precisely how much). Neither Abilify and Seroquel lasted long because of unpleasant side effects (nausea and twitching/akathesia).
Avatar m tn I am thinking about switching from Geodon to Seroquel. But I am scared the Seroquel will give me tremors, because I am welder and I have to have really steady hands. if Seroquel causes me to have tremors will they go away after I stop taking it?
202665 tn?1248806733 First off, I would be curious as to why your doctor feels that you need to be on not one, but two anti-psychotics (Geodon and Seroquel). They are pretty powerful and in my experience, when a person starts a new one, they are taken off the other. But not knowing your current symptoms, I cannot say. I was on Geodon as a mood stabilizer for 2 1/2 years. For a long time, I was very satisfied with it.
Avatar f tn Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.
794091 tn?1264986339 As regarding the antipsychotics perhaps after you stabilize your psychiatrist will allow you to titrate off one. Geodon has more side effects than Seroquel (which is more effective as a mood stabilizer) so see how you are doing in a while and speak to your psychiatrist more then.
Avatar f tn I switched between abilify(TD),respirdal, geodon to Seroquel and it was a horrible first two years my mouth and tongue tremors and body tremors
192368 tn?1224204130 I have only read that Geodon is great for schizophrenia, and those other symptoms. Will it work for me and bring me out of this blue funk Ive been in for months? Im really concerned. Any input is great! thanks!
Avatar m tn if I start taking Seroquel and it causes me to have tremors, will they go away after I start taking it?
642393 tn?1227032656 I've taken Abilify for yrs & love it. I have none of the side effects I had on other drugs. Try it!
Avatar m tn In my case Seroquel did not cause any erectile dysfunction but Zoloft did as well as Wellbutrin. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn I am on seroquel and abilify, and so far they havent caused any weight gain for me, or weight loss! I was on geodon at one point to, but that was a nightmare! You will have to sit back, and see what happens. If you really dont want the weight gain, then exercising should definitely help! I cant say for sure either, what the result will be!
Avatar n tn Spouse taking Seroquel, Lithium, & Geodon. Auditory hallucinations & delusions began about a month ago with no prior history of mental illness (we've been together 14 years). He was however abusing oxycodone, oxycontin, xanax, soma, & ritalin. We took him to the ER 3 wks ago & he was put on risperdal 1mg x1 wk, then 2mg before going back to ER. With no past mental illness history & age ~40...
663901 tn?1232649671 So one of the reasons I wanted to stop taking Seroquel before and try something else, is that I sometimes have this feeling in the bottom of my feet, that make me constantly need to rub them on something or walk to get rid of the sensation. Oddly enough, if I think about it, it usually occurs, but sometimes it will wake me up in the middle of the night, and I have to walk around. I'm on a relatively low dose, 200mg, at bedtime, but it can be quite frustrating....
Avatar m tn he said it works just like Seroquel but does the opposite and keeps you up. I was sceptical but it really workd well. At first though you might feel a little racy the first couple of days. I can't take Seroquel during the day, it makes me feel paralyzed.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had akasthesia while on Geodon? I've felt very restless lately, and I've had a hard tiime sitting still. My doctor lowered my dose, and hopefully that will help. In the meantime, I'm struggling with this problem.
596143 tn?1226648054 those are the exact symptoms i had on Geodon myself. I was put on 40mg for two days then bumped up to 80mg which i barely tolerated for about a week and a half. the side effects were so severe that i was out of work for two days. when i finally got the pdoc to call me back i had him reduce me back to 40mg a day, which i took for two days, and then the last night i took it, my vision went... that was it for me.. didn't take another dose and had my doc put me back onto the seroquel.
Avatar n tn I am on 300mg of seroquel and 200 zoloft, and yes there has been weight gain somethign i struggle with. I'm all about the sugar especially at night time. One thing i did start that actually has been really great was a Vitamin B complex, and it has really curbed my appetite especially at night. Been on it just over a week and have lost 3 pounds. might be worth a try.
675718 tn?1530033033 ten years ago I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia paranoid type at UBH and my doctor Dr. Stowe I was introduced to abilify then Geodon resperdal finally Seroquel I still have this permanent psychosis meaning lifetime of meds commitment I'm on the good things in life I embraced it I'm still living I'm still alive tyvm MEDHELP !!!!
663901 tn?1232649671 I'm not sure if I'm diagonosed correctly with bi-polar disorder. Between March and now I've tried several different medications. One of my main issues is sleeping and I was prescribed Seroquel. I took 200mg for several months and finally told the pdoc that I wasn't happy with it because of the weight gain and skin (terrible breakouts) issues. He switched me on October 14th to Geodon. I took 40mg a day for two days and then was bumped up to 80mg.
420308 tn?1203041262 I also am bipolar depressive and was on Effexor, which pooped, then Paxil and 600mg Seroquel. I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way.
585414 tn?1288941302 One time I took my Geodon when I was taking that and its sedation kicked in too late for some reason and I fell asleep for six hours at work. Of course you can't do that at a normal job and I wasn't able to do that constantly even at that job but uh I don't know where I was going with this actually. Huh. I guess the moral of the story is you need to compensate and I guess do what you're doing that works best.
Avatar f tn I waz on and i had a reaction to it its got an ingredient in it and caused me to lactate not bein pregnant and zyprexa i gained alot of weight like 20lb in a month
584628 tn?1218598371 Obviously im on too much medication, but theres a long story behind that. anyways, I have been on 30mg adderalXR 3 times a day and 50 mg seroquel at night and 2mg xanax(as needed) for the past 9 months. I have never ever been the type of person whos weight fluctuates. About 3 months ago I started taking 20mg lexapro at night with the 50mg seroquel. All I know is i used to be a size 4...ive been a size 4 for the past 8 years probably...NOW, i am a size 10 or 12...
Avatar f tn Hi. If I was to launch in the tirade that is my past you'd all find another thread PRONTO. Guess it boils down to this. I have BP type 2, severe depression, anxiety and social phobia - according to THOSE who know best.I'm a a bulimic self harmer, ex-meth addict, former anorexic, current alcoholic. Gotta love the labels lol - and I'm a qualified social worker. Feel kind of silly now, don't know what I really want to say, but my GUILT is eating me up inside.
