Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. If you do need a LABA as well, Serevent comes as a stand alone ICS. An LABA should always be used lin combinationwith ICS by asthmatics wheter in a combination med or as two stand alone meds.

It is also possible that some of the symptoms you describe, such as headache, shakes, racing heart, were caused by the other ingredient in Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) called Serevent® (salmeterol).
Many of the symptoms you describe occur with panic attacks and are relieved by leading a healthy life style. If that alone doesn't control the panic attacks, there is good, effective medicine for treatment of panic and you should request it from your doctor.
The inhaled steroid Flovent® (fluticasone propionate) has a half life of around 5 hours, so it would be totally out of your system in a few days. The inhaled long-acting bronchodilator Serevent® (salmeterol) has a similar half life, so it would be totally out of your system after 5 days.
When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
That means that this type of medicine should be used with caution and, in fact, maybe should not be used until it has been determined by a specialist that your rapid heart beat would not pose a serious risk, with the use of long-acting bronchodilator medicines such as Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate).
You should also have a chest x-ray and spirometry, a simple breathing test with and without a bronchodilator.

I was also taking anti-fungals having developed thrush from probably formoterol fumarate inhalers. I am also dealing with ringworm. Nothing grew from the cultures taken from blood, sputum, or a specimen from endoscopy.
The pneumonia abated and while at home I felt remarkably better. Then my girlfriend noticed my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. While looking at the hair in my hand I noticed my fingernails had no cuticles! Feet are also affected.
If you are really insistent about cheating death I would suggest you have your physician prescribe formoterol fumarate inhalation powder. It is sold as the "foradil aerolizer".
It is long acting, and an alternative to oral steroids. It should settle down your lungs for a good three to four hours after use.
Initially it started with allergies,then asthma.....initial days my ventolin and formoterol inhalers were working, but last 3 years it is not helping much...
I checked FEV which is 68% of predicted...but no significant increase in FEV1 after bronchodialator....

Ok, I was confused. I stared on Serevent not Singulair, I have both and keep trying to figure out what is the safest and best line of action for me. The cortosone has been my best friend at keeping the lungs cleared of secreations (sp?). Serevent has some real health issues that concern me, but so far it has been very helpful for me. That is interesting to note that Singulair can cause depression.
I wonder if that would be a good choice for me along with the cortosone?
You should have another follow-up x-ray, now. The prescription of Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol does not mean you have asthma. It only means that your doctor suspects that you might have it.
Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist.
