Avatar n tn If you think I am exaggerating about the effects of steroids (including deaths), surf the net, avoiding sites of parties with a vested interest.
312330 tn?1245176752 Are any of you taking theophylline for your asthma? If so, have you had a lot of side effects from it? My doc is considering trying this, just looking for people's experience.
Avatar f tn I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
Avatar n tn Severent (salmeterol) can have very serious side effects, death being the most notable. Flovent is a corticosteroid. Read the FDA warnings of February 2010. Like you I have moderately severe COPD. I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 43 year old female and was put on Advair over 1 yr ago. I have never had any Asthma attaks but was having tightness of breath and feeling i wasn't getting enough air and could barely walk. I never had any allergy or Asthma problems my entire life. After i was put on Advair my breathing problems became worse. I started having more problems with my health. I couldn't breath out of my nose and i constantly had a drip down my throught.
Avatar n tn Recently, I had a bad virus and got bronchitis, its haning around pretty good (since October 2008). I take Serevent (it works for me) but due to the virus I have developed several nodules throughout my lungs and having difficulty breathing. My doctor gave me Advair. I am concerned. I take Azor for high blood pressure, I also have been exposed to TB (1987 took INH and B6 six months) I also have lactose intolerance, I take enzyme for. Should I take this medicine?
746512 tn?1388807580 Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective. Haven't heard of muscle cramps or menstrual effects with Pulmicort.
Avatar f tn There are a few other side effects that can be bad though. A friend has severe heart palpitations with the adult dosage, so she is on the children's dose. I have found that I have to take it or I will have attacks. I pray that you continue to improve and sleep well.
Avatar f tn I was taking that dosage. As time went by I developed very serious adrenal fatigue, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Cortisol levels were very high. I was treated for it with only moderate success. But there was a more serious side effect that I was not aware of. For the last two years my lung health was declining seriously and I honestly did not think I would make it through the coming winter. I assumed that the COPD was progressing at an alarming rate.
Avatar n tn Reductil also known as Meridia is a weight control pill . Meridia has been associated with many side effects and various consumer groups have asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban further sale of the diet drug. 34 deaths have been disclosed of Meridia patients but states it sees no pattern to the deaths or connection to Meridia. 16 deaths resulted from cardiovascular problems Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant. Both of these drugs are contraindicated...
Avatar f tn There is even a phone number to contact the FDA if you experience side effects that is included on the full prescribing information sheet given to the patient with their prescription. I am sure you can think of drugs that have been recalled when it turned out they had serious side effects.
Avatar m tn Why has this epidemic of side effects gone unrecognized? Deaths from medication reactions rarely look any different from natural deaths. There's no visible wreckage to videotape, no crash sites to fascinate and horrify TV viewers. As media people say, 'No film, no story'. Media and public relations firms, and how they shape the public's awereness, are discussed in more detail here. Medication deaths often occur quietly in hospitals, emergency rooms and private homes.
Avatar m tn Side Effects of Entecavir - for the Consumer Entecavir All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Entecavir: Diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; headache; indigestion; nausea; tiredness; trouble sleeping; vomiting.
Avatar m tn If you are having any unusual side effects of any kind best to describe what they are as it would unlikely be that but if you ever experience any side effects that are affecting your health report them to your doctor right away. Every medication, including asprin has adverse side effects so if everything is going well I wouldn't get overly concerned about having that one happen.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
849762 tn?1288184748 Of course there could be other side effects, all medications and drugs have side effects for some. I have no doubt some could be serious. If you have had the seasonal flu shot in the past and not had an adverse reaction, chances are good you will not have an adverse reaction to the H1N1 vaccine. Protocols are the same. However, with any medication there is some risk and you need to weigh which holds the higher risk for you. Getting the vaccine or getting this flu.
Avatar f tn I need to talk to people who have gone through a second decompression surgery and see what they say they went through or side effects and so forth. I will ask that question in another post...see if they had any worries, etc..what their 2nd one consisted of and if it was complicated etc... Thanks again for sharing the information.
Avatar n tn My daughter got the first Gardasil shot 2 years ago and is still dealing with the side effects. The symptoms range and change! All test come back normal. I have found some help from the group at TRUTHABOUTGARDASIL.ORG...So, you may want to talk to someone there or read all the storys to compare yor side effects. There are a bunch of the moms on facebook, start with looking up gardasil on there it's all over the place. So far 82 deaths have been reported and over 19,000 injuries.
Avatar f tn My OB called me and told me that as a prevention she wanted to put me on Tamiflu which is not recommended for pregnant women because the side effects are unknown. She said that the benefits would outweigh the negatives most likely because there have already been deaths linked to this strain of flu. The pharmacist didn't seem worried because I am 18 weeks along. Any of you ladies been put on tamiflu? Should I trust my doctor and pharmacist?
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
Avatar f tn If you do need a LABA as well, Serevent comes as a stand alone ICS. An LABA should always be used lin combinationwith ICS by asthmatics wheter in a combination med or as two stand alone meds. I hope that helps you. God bless.
Avatar f tn Zofrain was recalled in the 70's and has been approved for dal again all meds could have side effects so it's all up to you and your own research to decide on what you take
Avatar m tn There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
