Serevent advair

Common Questions and Answers about Serevent advair

serevent

Avatar n tn Beware of Advair, Serevent, or any inhaled steroid. MD's are cavalier about putting people on these dangerous drugs, sometimes prescribing them for minor asthma problems or mild chronic bronchitis. These drugs can affect adrenal function, causing fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks. They can worsen your symptoms, making you think your ailment is progressing. What took me off them permanently (in addition to adrenal fatigue) was that they were causing me to choke (a frightening experience).
Avatar n tn In that case you should not take advair but only serevent. If you are taking advair, you also need to inform your physician who is prescribing antihypertensives to you.
Avatar n tn It is also possible that some of the symptoms you describe, such as headache, shakes, racing heart, were caused by the other ingredient in Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) called Serevent® (salmeterol). Many of the symptoms you describe occur with panic attacks and are relieved by leading a healthy life style. If that alone doesn't control the panic attacks, there is good, effective medicine for treatment of panic and you should request it from your doctor.
Avatar f tn I have fitness induced asthma, and my doctor put me on advair or something like that. And the next few days after taking it, I got really bad chest pains when I'd run. Has that happened to anybody else? Should I worry?
746512 tn?1388807580 Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective. Haven't heard of muscle cramps or menstrual effects with Pulmicort.
Avatar n tn how long does it take advair to get out of your system after being on it for 3 years(250 twice a day)? I just quit advair and doing other alternative medicines to help me.
Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar f tn flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
312330 tn?1245176752 I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar f tn I have been on Advair, then symbicort, and now dulera and keep losing my voice to the point of not being able to sing at all. I am a singer and a teacher and really need my voice, but I also need to be able to breathe! I get plenty of sleep, drink water, and don't abuse my voice by yelling or pushing it too much. I also rinse and gargle thoroughly after taking my inhalers. I miss singing and really need my voice. So frustrated and don't know what else to do! Any advice??
Avatar f tn While it is known that high doses, much higher than Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder 500/50, of long-acting bronchodilator medicines, such as the Serevent® (salmeterol) in Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, this is rare.
Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar f tn Ok, I was confused. I stared on Serevent not Singulair, I have both and keep trying to figure out what is the safest and best line of action for me. The cortosone has been my best friend at keeping the lungs cleared of secreations (sp?). Serevent has some real health issues that concern me, but so far it has been very helpful for me. That is interesting to note that Singulair can cause depression. I wonder if that would be a good choice for me along with the cortosone?
Avatar m tn This inflammation is of a different type than the inflammation seen with asthma, yet you still might benefit from the use of medicines used to treat asthma such as a long-acting bronchodilator, such as, Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) along with an inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), the combination of the 2 is available as Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are. Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) is one and Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) another. Each is a bronchodilator and capable of giving good relief of shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to stop taking Advair cold turkey when my symptoms improve or do I need to take something else to come off it slower?
Avatar n tn Can long term use of Advair cause bruising? I have been on 500/50 for two years in the summer months and 250/50 the remainder of the year. I am bruising easily and believe it may be a long term side effect for using Advair.
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar f tn Steroids are often worse than the disease it treats. Advair almost killed me. By the way, steroids harm your immune system. And - reputable doctors are no long using Adviar 500. And in Februrary the FDA came out with a warning about Advair. They said it should only be used when nothing else worked and, even then, it should only be used short term. Maybe you need another doctor.
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time?
