dandruff

2078979 tn?1332206668 I'm gonna be 35 weeks and recently started getting it, so right now I'm gonna try using a Paul Mitchell product since my bestie works at a salon that her mom own but I'm pretty sure head and shoulders or selsun blue they are both dandruff shampoos.. the selsun blue works good!
Avatar f tn You can use selsun dandruff shampoo too, just be careful not to get it in the eyes
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar m tn does anyone have any advice or anything that might help this?? the intense shampoo has not seemed to work too well. i have to leave the selsun blue on for a few minutes for it to work for a short part of the day. i use it every day!!! i would like to be able to use my normal shampoos that i have and to just be happy and comfortable and not have to worry anymore. ANY advise would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
Avatar n tn Will switching to a Selsun blue or dandruff shampoo help? What should I do about the pink flaky skin around my hairline? Any help is much appreciated. Its not itchy or irritating but it does not look good and I hate having flaking.
Avatar n tn soo wanting to get them off i went to this website and read this other girls post and the cmnts all said to buy selsun blue dandruff shampoo, soo i did, went home took a shower, and put the selsun all over my shoulders, and chest, and went to bed, i woke up the next day, and it was burning like mad, but i thought i was just burning off the fungus or whatever.
Avatar f tn I have tinea versicolor this seems similar.... don't laugh but try selsun blue yes its dandruff shampoo but what u do is spread it over your spots like lotion let it sit for at least ten min or you can put on a loose fitting tee and chill while u catch up on TV or something then wash it off in the shower once to twice a week something in the shampoo combats the yeast.
Avatar f tn I am not in treatment, never have been yet. But as far as my HPC side effects, scalp itch is a big one for me. As for over the counter help, you have a few options. First is Head & Shoulders "itchy scalp care" this comes in shampoo or what I use, 2in1 shampoo+conditioner. Both have the active ingredient Pyrithione Zinc in them which is the same ingredient they use for dandruff too.
Avatar m tn When using treatments like the anti-dandruff shampoo Selsun Blue for tinea versicolor, one must be very persistent as it does take time to go away. I had it for a few months a year ago but it slowly disappeared over time. I have noticed that sometimes it comes back again when I get overheated though.
Avatar n tn I agree with jemma116 about going back to the doctor. Did you see a dermatologist or your primary care physician? If you didn't see a dermatologist, I would suggest seeing one for this type of issue. It could be that the shampoo is drying your scalp out and exacerbating the dandruff and irritating the sores, preventing healing. I've personally found Head & Shoulders, Nizoral, Selsun Blue, and all those anti-dandruff shampoos to make my scalp worse.
Avatar n tn With regards to your dandruff, daily washing with an antidandruff shampoo may help decrease oil and cell buildup. There are plenty of dandruff shampoo available in the market today. Not all dandruff shampoos are alike, so you may need to experiment with them to find the one that works best for you. When shampooing, it is important to rinse well. If it still persists, stronger prescription shampoos may be indicated. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It's advantage multi, he was thinking maybe it was walking dandruff but I went back to the vets again yesterday and we did a skin scraping and it's not mites or walking dandruff. Advantage multi kill many mites so were playing safe. We now have moved on thinking its a fungal infection, it's only making one pup really lose hair the other two have the itch but aren't losing near as much hair.
Avatar n tn I have tried a number of different prescription shampoos and foams, including Loprox, Luxiq, and Selenium Sulfide 2% lotion, as well as the over the counter Selsun Blue, T-Gel, and several variants of Head and Shoulders. None of these seem to have any consistent effect on it. The only effective treatment I have discovered so far is exposure to sunlight. This cleared up the scales, but I still had horrible dandruff. After a week or so, the scales returned, and my dandruff is just as bad as ever.
Avatar n tn I think I have finally found the answer, obviously without the help of the doctors. I have been self-treating with anti-fungal creams and Selsun Blue for 3 weeks now. So far, I have seen no changes. Could this really be irreversible sun damage? Or is tinea versicolor so rare, my doctor's hadn't even heard of it? This discussion is related to White Spots.
Avatar f tn My GI has me wash the riba rash areas with Head & Shoulders (or Selsun Blue) dandruff shampoo and then apply over the counter hydrocortisone cream. My rash is is on my face and you have to be very careful using hydrocortison cream around the eyes as it thins the skin. This ritual works but the minute you stop the rash does come back.
Avatar f tn Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo; I used it as a kid and it worked on me. Lather it on and keep on skin for several hours at a time. I only had to use it 3 weeks before it started working.
Avatar n tn the fungus needs to be treated with products such as selsun blue... the reason for this is that selsun blue is an anti dandruff shampoo(antifungal)... therefore if selsun makes ur skin burn or react badly it is too strong for skin try any antidandruff shampoos and serums. your skin might start to go dry and appear scaly just continue exfoliating to remove the dead skin and you can use all natural tea tree oil. try stay away from creams and oiols that you normally use.
2177836 tn?1355173877 My ped told me to use a small amount of selsun blue for cradle cap. I used that and baby oil and it cleared right up.

Avatar f tn Thank you! I just bought selsun blue shampoo and a hydrocortisone cream used for itchy scalps. So hopefully this will work!!
609210 tn?1222199297 I was told that i'm allergic to the sun, when i sweat I get rashes all over my body, i'm also allergic to metal and my dog. Well I was told to use selsun blue as a body wash, i've been doing that for over three years and frankly, it does not work. A friend of mine just recently gave me a tube of cream called 'Fougera' and I can say it actually works! However i'm not sure if this is actually a treatment for what I have, and wonder if there is anything else I can do.
Avatar f tn When I was your age, I, too, had white spots that started on my face, went down my shoulders and back, and onto my arms. When the weather was fairly dry, they were just white spots. When it was humid and I got sweaty, the white spots raised up and turned into a big, collective, itchy red patch. My pediatrician was perplexed at first and I don't know what he diagnosed it as but he suggested that I buy Selsun Blue Shampoo (it had just come on the market in the 1970's).
Avatar f tn You should ask your doctor. I not really sure, but I think i remember hearing a while back that those shampoos have formaldehyde in them. I don't know if it can effect the baby from a shampoo but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Avatar n tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
1654177 tn?1319838494 However, certain patches of my scalp are flaking off sooo much, it is discusting. Sometimes I use dandruff shampoo but it doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
