1545371 tn?1330798707 As you probably know, reducing the frequency/dose of a seizure med leads to an increased risk of having seizures while your body adjusts to the change. However, awaking feeling groggy and stiff can be a result of many things, none necessarily related to epilepsy. I suggest talking to the physician managing your condition medication. A sleep study may prove useful, or a 24-hour video EEG (in a hospital) or a 72-hour ambulatory EEG.

Avatar f tn She did have to be on medication while pregnant. Your best course of action would be to discuss the options you have available to you before becoming pregnant. I would NOT recommend stopping your medication until you talk with your doctor either. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn s putting people back on it temporarily to ween them off properly, and then try another method like Tegretol and Klonopin to assist with side effects or having another Seizure, and or also give them meds to prevent seizure period. Similar to what people with epilepsy take who have multiple seizures. I can't and do not understand why a Dr. would put anyone on Xanax for life. Your friend may need a 2nd opinion for her own health and safety. Good luck to you both.
Avatar f tn While one third of the women may have more seizures while they are pregnant. It is advisable to keep your seizures under control throughout pregnancy. Seizure during the last month of pregnancy or during labor can harm the baby. It is advisable that your obstetrician watches for any seizure and is well prepared to manage if seizure happens during labor. Not treating a seizure during pregnancy can be dangerous for the fetus.
Avatar f tn You have to communicate with your doc and you have to determine which med is the safest to take while pregnant and also what med effectively treats your seizures. Goober the pros and cons of all that's involved in your care. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I am a 43 healthy female. I had a gran mal seizure in 2004 where I fell backwards stiff as a board and cracked my head open on concrete. I lost all consciousness and could not tell where I was when I came to. I do not remember falling. God blessed me that day as I was about to drive my husband and 2 children home from vacation from San Antonio to Houston. I could have killed them and another driver.

Avatar n tn For the past 8 months I have been experiencing muscle twitching throughout my whole body while sleeping. It is becoming very disruptive to my sleeping as well as to my partners. I have been diagnosed with a seizure disorder and am taking 200 mg of Topomax per day. My recent blood test have shown a low B-6 level so I started taking supplements. Also, I am waiting for the results of an overnight eeg. Is there anything that can be done to control these twitchings?
Avatar n tn s on her. One of these were hooked up to her and while hooked up to the EEG, it registered a seizure to the left side of her brain. She was released from the hospital yesterday and told she should not drive for 6 months. She was given medication and told to schedule a visit in 2 or 3 She told me she hit her head twice as a child. She also had bells palsy when she was 14. I don't know if any early event is relevant to these seizures.
Avatar f tn I am also on an anti-seizure medication. I recently read somewhere that when your taking an anti-seizure medication, while on birth contol, it make's your birth control not work. I was wondering if this was true or not as I think I am pregnant. Please help me...
Avatar f tn I know it's really dangerous to have a seizure while pregnant because it cuts off the oxygen to the baby my Dr said.
Avatar m tn It does still fit the description of a seizure. Not all seizures involve paddling, slobbering and loss of bladder control. Those are basically what are considered to be grand mal seizures. Petite mal seizures can be anything from a twitching of the head to a state of catatonia for a brief time, which sounds more or less like what your girl had. Please let us know what the vet says when you do get to take her in. Good luck to you!
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar f tn The only way we could get it to stop was if i wrapped my arms around him and held him for a while. As I was holding him I realized he fell asleep out of nowhere? That happened 3 times in the span of 30 minutes. I was terrified, I didn't know what was happening. After the third one was over i looked at him and he was sound asleep and still. I looked at him and asked if he was okay and didn't remember any of it. Can anybody help me out, i'm stuck.. It would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hello! I've had deja vu seizures (auras) for about ten years now. I never had them until after I got off the awful Depo shot. I then 't have any while I was pregnant with my daughter, but they started up again after I had her. They seem to be related to my cycle. I was basically just really hoping to hear success stories about people who have dealt with seizures caused by birth control and are now seizure-free. PLEASE don't tell me any horror stories.
Avatar n tn I wrote pain not panic but i guess while you're having a pain attack one could say ones levels of stress are higher
