Avatar f tn If he has refractory epilepsy, he could talk to his doctor about a possible surgical workup, see if he is a candidate for surgery....there are different procedures for different seizure types, locations of seizures, etc. etc. Unfortunatley, not everyone is a candidate, but you have nothing to lose by asking.
Avatar n tn Our child was diagnosed with ADHD, TS, and Seizure Disorder. Our child does have facial twitching, shoulder shrugs, and various other things, as well as ADD symptoms like daydreaming in class, not completing assignments, being forgetful, etc. I could list them all but I'm sure that's really necessary. They did an EEG and blood work and urine tests to rule out other things such as lead and copper and such.
564065 tn?1216314613 I was thinking seizure-free, but some people would probaly like to keep track of their seizures.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar m tn Not sure if I fainted or had some form of a Seizure as I understand there are several types of Seizures. If anyone could give me their opinion, that would be greatly appreciated. I was laying down on couch watching tv. I was doing nothing abnormal or different throughout the day. I got up from couch walked in the kitchen and collapsed on floor face first, with a slight cut above my eyebrow with my right cheek pressed against floor. I was unconscious for approx 1 minute.
704609 tn?1228738656 For the seizure tracker I would like a tracker that could keep track of how often i have seizures and also a way to keep track of the type of seizure the person has. I have four different types of seizures plus I have auras. Also a place to note whether an injury occured from the seizure would be nice. I have given myself concussions from the worst seizures. I also take xanax when I get an aura (when I feel a bad seizure coming on) so a way to track that would also be nice since it is related.
327385 tn?1378360731 hi, im worried about my 12yr old son. i had my first seizure when i was about 12 . when i had my first seizure my nose bleed very bad and sometimes when my nose bleeds i will still have a seizure. i have been diagnosed with granmal seizures. i have icepick migraines and hes starting to have headaches. i have taken him to the doctor about the headaches ,im worried about them because im a pituitary tumor survivor. the doctor blows him off. she thinks hes acting because of my condition.
Avatar n tn Infections and fever can make an otherwise healthy individual more prone to have a seizure. a single episode of seizure cannot be marked as epilepsy. An EEG to ensure that there are no structural abnormalities in brain. Normal EEG and MRI brain are encouraging though this does not rule out a future episode. You need to consult a physician for investigating any underlying infectious condition, high or low blood sugar, injury, electrolyte imbalance, drug withdrawal syndrome etc.
Avatar n tn I would agree that these probably are seizures. My dad has experienced several different types of seizures, but none like your sons. Sometimes he convulses and sometimes not. Sometimes he just gets a sad look on his face and stares. But he has had a lot of test and he has had several mri's and none say that anything is wrong with his brain. So although his brain looks fine, he does have seizures.
Avatar f tn There are some that involve staring off and only last a minute or two. Some involved stiffening of the body only. Google seizure types. The only way to tell if it is a true seizures is having an eeg within 24 hours of the seizure, it will show abnormal brain activity. My brothers seizures always show in the right temporal lobe of the brain. His are controlled now with antiseizure meds. If you have seizures pregnancy can make them worse. You need to see a neurologist for proper diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Could be a panic attack, but it also sounds like you may have had a seizure. There are many different types of seizures, and all the symptoms you described are things that can and do happen during a seizure. I would definitely go to the doctor about this.
536029 tn?1213648108 then 8 months ago i developed these seizure types and a burning itchy feeling all over my body.they thought it was pseudo fits at first until they had a video of it then said it wasnt..any ideas please i cant cope with it all any longer.

Avatar f tn We have only tried twice to get pregnant and we have 2 kids. First time with both kids. He is on Lamictal and Levetiracetam (2 types of meds) twice a day. He had his last seizure a year ago. I have never heard of any sexual side effects, cause we havent dealt with any, but then again he is italian so that also increases his passion, lol. I would find out the type of meds he is on and just google it and see what side effects come up! Good luck!
Avatar n tn She said she had about 15-90 seconds where she felt like she was falling into a seizure, then it would take control. Once she was locked into the seizure, it would last for anywhere from 20 seconds to 90 seconds. We realized if we made her snack and kept her from getting hungry it really helped. She got to the point where she recognized the onset of the initial symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi there. There are different types of epilepsy with different characteristics like grand mal epilepsy you have tonic clonic generalized muscle contractions, frothing, unconsciousness, twitches, metal confusion, some may lose bladder and bowel control, usually preceded by an aura of impending seizure. aura is a strange feeling of muscle stiffening, hearing weird sounds, smelling strange smells etc.
Avatar f tn My husband had a seizure about 3 weeks ago while at work, he is type 1 diabetic and thought the seizure was due to his blood sugar falling dangerously low. However; at the hospital a CT scan was performed and they found a cyst in his brain. He was told to follow up with his primary physician. Last week he had a contrast and no contrast MRI on his brain.
Avatar n tn You are on a high dose now, so tapering slowly and switching to klonopin at the end and some anti seizure medication the very last week is what you have to do, and have all of this monitored closely by your doctor. I would suggest tapering in phases...phase one getting down to the 1 -2 mgs level/day, and learning how to sleep without xanax, maybe substituting some short term use of ambien if necessary.
Avatar f tn She never had a grand mal seizure until she started taking depakote. When she skipped pills, she had a seizure. This passed February, she was suddenly diagnosed with polymyositis and she's taking more meds plus getting IVIG monthly. They recently lowered her meds for the polymyositis and I found out she lowered her meds for seizures too (not by doctor recomendation). She just had an EEG today to check how her seizures are going.
Avatar f tn That may be some form of a minor seizure as well (there are multiple classes of seizures of course) as a person does not have to lose consciousness during a seizures. A person can have different types of seizures, not just the specific ones they were diagnosed with. Best to speak to a neurologist and they could do tests such as EEG's to see what is happening during those staring spells to see if its some form of seizure and then decide from there how to treat it.
Avatar m tn I have tried to cold turkey my way out of taking fioricet 3-4 times a day, this caused me to have a very bad mental break down. My fear is that I will have a seizure, I have delt with someone else having a medication withdrawal seizure (tonic-clonic, or clonic tonic I forget what the order is) and that dreadful noise is forever stuck in my head!
1653487 tn?1303524162 Those who are best will send you to an epi if they feel it is necessary. Mixing seizure meds, knowing which ones to use (keeping in mind there are over 40 types of seizures--epilepsy is being referred to by some as a spectrum disorder), epis tend to better know the ins and outs, and various types of cocktails known to help with different types of seizures. It's an art. So, good luck to you, and keep me posted. Send me an e-mail if you choose, whatever.
