Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
Avatar m tn Researchers have tried various drugs on people who do no need treatment (according to the latest guidelines) and discovered that the drugs do not help at all. That is why the latest guidelines recommend "no treatment" in many cases.
Avatar f tn While the treatment of choice is levothyroxine (I didn't see Synthroid mentioned in the document - simply L-thyroxine), options are left open to the treating physician, based on patient need. "The guidelines are not inclusive of all proper approaches or methods, or exclusive of others. the guidelines do not establish a standard of care, and specific outcomes are not guaranteed.
Avatar n tn Doesn't Incevik have it's own guidelines for treatment? I'm not sure if it's fair to you to compare your results w/ SOC and apply that to your current treatment. I do hope the best outcome for you.
1516809 tn?1345082764 I told her that he had received new meds, that he had extreme difficulty walking but while she understood under Medicare guidelines since they were not treating him with an IV or other acute treatment, he had to be discharged. The plan of the PCP was to ultimately admit my father into sub-acute rehab, however according to her, the hospital reversed the admittance staus that she prescribed from acute to observation.
Avatar f tn Tamoxifen is always recommended following radiation after lumpectomy when the tumor is ER/PR+. The usual course of treatment is for 5 years. This is the standard medical treatment in cases as noted above ... I can't imagine it NOT being recommended by any publication; unless of course the tumor was found to be ER/PR neg. Then it would be of no value. Regards ....
Avatar m tn As opposed to European (EASL) 2012, Asian-Pacific (APASL) 2012, American (AASLD) 2009, and World Health Organisation (WHO) 2015 major guidelines for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B, the following 3 guidelines are more strict on the conditions leading to necessity of treatment for Hepatitis B, HBeAg negative carriers: Canadian 2009, Japanese (JSH) 2013, and UK/British (NICE) 2013 guidelines are more "strict" when it comes to treatment of negative HBsAg patients, especially in the
428506 tn?1296557399 The controversial treatment guidelines recommend against re-treatment of Lyme patients who fail the recommended treatment, despite a lack of research supporting their claim that additional treatment is ineffective. Two studies (Fallon et al. 2008 Krupp et al. 2003) found that Lyme patients benefited from additional treatment. NatCapLyme is disappointed with the result of the IDSA's review of its treatment guidelines.

Avatar f tn If this is the first time, have her checked by your doctor for proper management. Here are some general guidelines that we need to know when another seizure occurs: stay calm and don't move her to another place. Don't try to keep her from moving or shaking and don't try to wake her by shouting at or shaking. Take away items that could cause injury and gently turn her to her side so any fluid in the mouth can safely come out.
Avatar m tn adam - while I know this is scary for you, try not to get ahead of yourself. I drank regularly and heavily for several years, and now I am facing medical issues likely resulting from it. My point is that you don't want to be where I am. I know you are young and your buddies likely drink a good bit too, but your health really is most important. Yes, heavy drinking damages the liver.

Avatar m tn Are there veterans of this forum not on treatment, currently? Are most people in this forum for more than one year on treatment? I know some people never go on treatment after finding out they are chronic, but I know some go on treatment right away after finding out they are chronic. I want to know what I should be expecting, according to the forum members here when treatment would begin for people.
Avatar f tn A position paper updating the AACE/ATA guidelines for endocrinologists in the treatment of hypothyroidism was released today. Seems not to have considered either the Danish or Italian studies on the benefits of T4/T3 therapy previously published in EJM, and published by NIH here in February. At least they suggest including symptoms in making a diagnosis. Interesting read, highly recommend. Here is the PDF link : http://aace.metapress.com/content/b67v7mk73g3233n2/fulltext.
683231 tn?1467323017 Hi Lynn Thanks for posting this update on the recommended treatment for those with Geno 1a who failed a prior Sovaldi based treatment. This is the same treatment my husband has been approved for - Harvoni for 24 weeks (w/o ribavirin this time). He was supposed to start treatment this month but as fate would have it he took a bad fall on a Thanksgiving night (due to some confusion caused by HE after a big meal he normally doesn't eat) and broke his hip and fractured his shoulder ball.
Avatar m tn Seizure disorders sometimes fade and never return, so that someone who had seizures as a child or adolescent often will not have any as an adult. The medications used to treat seizures are all so-called antiseizure or anticonvulsant meds, including Topamax, Valproate, Trileptal, etc. The choice of med depends on the type of seizure disorder, and some people require two meds (polytherapy) to achieve good seizure control.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I've always been on the low side of normal. She didn't say I had a low count, just too low for tx, if that makes sense. She said the dr just told her to call me and get a second test to confirm and she would be able to tell me more after they get the results back from that blood work. I'm on a seizure med so I may need to get it changed before I can tx. My grand mal seizures were causes by meds building to toxic levels in my brain.

Avatar f tn I have had 4 TURBTs but all for low-grade superficial tumors. There are a few things that concern me here. One is waiting four months before your follow-up cysto after your first TURBT. That seems way too long since your pathology came back high grade. Also the vitamin C -- are you sure you don't mean Mitomycin-C? Very different things. Yes, I would get a second opinion for sure. And if it really was just vitamin C, that's cause for concern IMHO. God bless you!
