blood pressure, but a slight blood clot got to the brain from the hole in the heart and caused a stroke 8 months ago. Last week he had a Tonic Clonic seizure this happened after a very active day of therapy for his left hand which is still not responding, hours at a the YMCa working out and working with his Saebolt which opens and closes the hand. He did have 3 beers the previous day with a buddy and his wife thinks that is what caused it, but the neuorologiest said no.

i had a clonic-tonic seizure about 3 weeks ago. i was put on keppra and now am having a lot of confusion and am very tired and extremely moody. is this related to the seizure and or the medication?

I was on it for three days and then my epileptologist stopped the medication. The following day, I had another tonic clonic seizure on the stairs in the barn and landed on the concrete floor. I was transported by Life Flight to the hospital where my epileptologist worked. The paramedics reported that my breathing was very shallow and my blood pressure was through the floor. I had two more seizures following and was given Ativan to stop the seizures.

my 16 yr old son who suffers from autism cerebral palsey ocd servere to profound hearing loss and epilepsy has suffered 3 seizures in 2 weeks, 1 tonic seizure may 2, 1 grand mal may 7 and 1 grand mal may 17. he is now taking 1000mg depakote. his depakote level is 105 (he weighs 98 lbs) since his last seizure on may 17 he now cries for hours before he falls asleep, and wakes during the night crying. i think his meds r affecting him. can u please give me an idea to help him?

Do you have family history of seizure? How you know that it was tonic clonic? Describe your symptoms to the doctor, how you felt before and after the seizure. Ask doctor what could be the cause for seizure and whether medication is needed or not. Investigations like MRI and EEG are done to find out the cause. Relax, and avoid driving for a while till you see the doctor.

He went 4 months without a seizure, then switched to the generic Dilantin and 2 weeks later had a partial seizure, then a tonic clonic seizure within 2 days, both at night while he was sleeping and again has no recollection. His Dilantin levels were low, he went back on the regular Dilantin and increased his dosage to 300mg in the am and 300mg at night. It's been 3 days and no seizures. Does he have Epilepsy?

When I was 8 years old I began having seizures, which at the time were diagnosed as tonic clonic seizures, I was given anti-convulsant drugs (epilim) and after two years of being seizure free (age 11) I was taken off the drugs, I never again suffered a seizure until I was 28 years old and in my 8th month of pregnancy. My fear is that I will have a seizure, I have delt with someone else having a medication withdrawal seizure (tonic-clonic, or clonic tonic I forget what the order is) and that dreadful noise is forever stuck in my head! Hi I suggest you have this assessed by a neurologist. This may be a partial seizure. These seizure types may not present with the convulsions noted in the more generalized tonic clonic seizures. You have noted that you also have headaches accompanying these? For how long have you noted this ? Have you ever been assessed by a physician with regards to your symptoms?

I have have one instance of a tonic clonic seizure, and serveral instances of complex-partial seizures (according to my newest neurologist). My question concerns to results I received for my MRA test. My EEG was normal, once again, and my glucose tolerance test was also normal. However, it appears as if my MRA showed signs of mild encephalopathic hippocampo gyrus (bilaterally). I have absolutely no idea what this means, and my appointment isn't for another couple of weeks.

The second episode appears to be seizure related since there is an aura and a post ictal phase of confusion and tonic clonic involuntary limb movement including heavy head hitting against the wall. My dad said he started having these this past summer but never told us about it. We (family) found out eventually when he had the typical tonic clonic seizure around 5 am this past December. I was freaked out because I never saw anything like it. I didn't know what to do. He got out of it after a couple min and he didn't even know what happened. I have yet to be diagnosed with MS. I have many of the symptoms and lesions on MRI and am seeing an MS specialist the beginning of December. My question is really about seizures and MS. Monday I had a couple of Grand Mal seizures, they were not the first in my lifetime, but there haven't been many. Since the seizures on Monday (today is Thur.) my legs are VERY weak. Could the seizure been the beginning of a relapse? The seizures happened after a horrible bout with cluster headaches.

I am a 44 yr old female with Juvenile myoclonic epilesy and Generalized Seizure disorder. Started the Myocloics Around puberty, the Tonic clonics at 17. Needless to say, been on alot of Meds. I am currently on Keppra and Topiramate and have just been told my latest tests are showing major kidney damage from the topiramate. I have been on these two meds since 2002. I have to admit, reading all this is very scary. NO Other Meds have worked to control my seizures ! PERIOD!!

1 hour after I got home he had a Tonic Clonic seizure and turned blue. I called 911. They look him to Children Hospital in St. Paul. They put him the Epilepsy Unit and did an EEG. They found 5 other Myclonic seizures in his sleep. MRI looked fine and all blood tests came back fine. They diagnosed him with Generalized Infant Benign Epilepsy. They put him on Keppra. So far I have only witnessed 2 little jerks, I guess they are Myoclonic seizures.

Afterwards I feel shaky and my toes and left arm a re usually a little tingly. All of my other symptoms have gotten worse as well since the seizure. The insides of my calves often have a tearing/pinching like feeling. My heels are tingly a lot, joints hurt, headaches (sometimes just my eyeballs hurt-it's weird), I could go on. My doctor said she doesn't know why I had a grand-mal seizure. She says some of these symptoms can be brought on my "stress".

He seen my hip have myoclonic-tonic seizures. I tried to explain it is just the muscle spasms but he was not amused or convinced by it. Although he said it is unusual to see them go over and over like that, he says it can happen. I guess I am unlucky. BTW, I love the name Curiouzilla....

one can also have different types of seizures at the same time like generalized tonic clonic and absence seizure. These causes need to be ruled out and caution exercised in future. Anti epileptic drugs may not be required unless an organic cause is detected. Hope this helps. Take care.

i was diagnosed with epilepsy aged 8. I had tonic clonic seizures, complex partial and myoclonic seizures. I have been seizure free on medication for several years now. A large proportion of my seizures occured during sleep. I reduced my meds several years ago with the help of my neurologist as i was keen to get pregnant. Lately i have been wakening feeling extremely groggy and tired which lasts throughout the day and my body aches when i waken. I feel some days like i have been hit by a bus.

sounds like a tonic clonic seizure to me, you lose total body control during one of those therefore you can wet yourself.
