565568 tn?1217333711 Hi! I am 23 years old and have had migraines for a while now. I have been getting odd sensations almost that resemble partial seizures. I had an eeg done and it was normal. I heard that can happen. My dr scheduled me for another eeg because I had seizure activity with lexapro.(anit-anxiety) has anyone had that problem with lexapro? My neurologist said I had Atypical migraines. Basically my headaches do what they want whenever they want.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if you could tell me what may be going on if I list the symptoms that he has. First of all, his eyes seem to change, as in it looks like you are talking to someone else, not him. His hands also shake a lot, he becomes unaware of his surroundings, forgets who people are, doesn't remember basic things like what someone is doing, seems to regress to being a kid, as in he has no inhibitions and will say what ever comes to mind.
Avatar f tn It seems there is a type of migraine called an atypical complex migraine that can trigger a seizure, cause neurological symptoms, and not even involve a headache. She is a multiple sclerosis specialists, so she is looking for that too, but in the meantime, she wanted to give this a try since the seizures don't seem to fit any other diagnosis. So far, I haven't had a seizure since I started on it, and I have felt really good.
327385 tn?1378360731 when you go to a neuo you keep a seizure diary, so a tracker would be a easy way to keep up with seizures , meds , symptoms, how long seizure lasted. and a migraine tracker . to track headaches, how long lasted, symptoms, meds, where pain is.

Avatar n tn Recently, she has lost vision in her right eye during the headache and is now having seizure-like symptoms. She has experienced 1 - 2 seizures daily for 1 week. She has had a headache for approx 2 weeks. She feels the "seizure" coming on because it is preceded by a unusual taste in her mouth, unusual mental & stomach feelings. Her MD is not sure she is having seizures & ordered an MRI & EEG, which we are waiting on results from.
Avatar n tn Patients with simple focal seizures do not lose consciousness and remember the events that occur at the time while patients with complex partial seizures will have abnormal consciousness and may or may not remember the seizure. Other symptoms include abnormal muscle contraction, repetitive movements, abnormal sensations, nausea and changes in mood or emotion. Diagnosis is usually with a complete neurological examination and EEG.
Avatar f tn My 41 year old daughter has weird symptoms with migraines. One side of her face has severe spasms and her tongue swells and pulls out of her mouth. This time her neck, arms, and hands froze up and one eye closed tightly. She had four episodes, the first of which lasted about 4 minutes, then everything relaxes for a few minutes before the next episode. The ER doctor said it was complicated migraines. Her Neurologist doesn't know what it is. Has anyone heard of anything like this?
1302779 tn?1287405029 it was prescribed for my tremors and hasnt helped at all for my migraines. they might try something else for your migraines. they have me on topamax which is suppose to help with both of my symptoms.
Avatar f tn Although in my research of late, as I am really trying to get to the bottom of this most annoying condition, I have found that the description for complicated migraines seems to fit my symptoms rather well and I am concerned as I have come to rely very much on triptans to help lessen the severity of the attacks (I get no less than 6 migraines per month) and after reading about complicated and hemiplegic migraines and the risk of stroke triptans may present in this type, I am concerned.
Avatar f tn I get really mad migraines where i cant even move i sometimes get a tiny seizure and vomit or just get really dizzy i just worried what causes this horrible migraines?
Avatar f tn My adult daughter has been suffering from severe migraines for the past year. Lately she has been getting dizzy spells and falling into things. She went to a neurologist who did an MRI, which suggested that she may have a brain aneurism. They followed up with a CT scan (see the enclosed photo of the scan) and told my daughter that he did not know what was causing her symptoms. When she asked about the strange material growing around her arteries on the scan he said he did not know.

Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your advice, you''ve managed to clear up, alot, for me with your answer. Just to give you a brief history.
620251 tn?1221443842 I have had exactly what you are describing and was diagnosed with a seizure disorder that was directly linked to my chronic migraines. Once treated for the seizures, the migraines were controlled. My condition went undetected for many years until I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and it wasn't until I suffered from a Gran Mal seizure in front of witnesses that someone finally took my seizure symptoms seriously. Don't wait to seek treatment.
155701 tn?1230047101 what you are going through is probably ocular migraines along with a seizure disorder. This can occur before or after the seizure event. These headaches are temporarily related to the seizure event and occur in unison. Migraine event is not produced from the epileptiform discharges in the brain. Migraines usually last longer and are not as frequent, have other signs that distinguish them like photo and phonophobia, vascular quality(pounding), location( occipital in your case)in pain and nausea.
Avatar f tn I would have always swore it was some sort of seizure... until... I read about silent migraines. Imagine all the symptoms.. of a migraine.. PLUS more.. except no Pain...you litterly feel like you're having a stroke!!
Avatar n tn Have you ever had migraines before? I cant work when I have migraines at all. Cluster, aura or complicated. How did you even work with a migraine? What was uncharacteristic? What did you say exactly? You can have speech problems but I have never heard of saying things that would cause you to get fired. How did the migraine come on? How do you know its a cluster migraine? Do you suffer from Migraines? Do you take medication for migraines?
Avatar n tn Actually, this makes sense to me because people with migraines have many of the same symptoms as people with epilepsy, minus the outward seizures. And, food sensitivities do definitely trigger migraines in people.
1303966 tn?1296740010 When I went to TCI dr insinga mentioned that one of my arteries was larger the other (much larger, the other one almost nonexistent) and said the large artery was putting pressure on the chiari which is causing a lot of my symptoms. I have had migraines since i was 2 y/o (that is when my mom and sister said I started getting the headaches), so wonder if mine are basilar. Suppose I should ask dr insinga as i dont remember if he said i had them or not.
Avatar m tn My first thought was a food allergy. My aunt didn't used to have problems but several years ago developed an allergy to corn to where she would have a migraine every time she had corn products. Since you said the diet didn't seem to matter now, I'm not sure that doing a elimination diet to find the cause would be helpful but it might. The other thought was seizure activity. For twenty years, I had absence seizures and a few grand mals. I had brain surgery six years ago for this.
Avatar n tn I am sure you are aware that there are better medications for both migraines and anxiety and if not, that is something that should be discussed with your physician. The migraines can be much better treated by preventing them with newer anti-seizure medications such as Topomax or Depacote. Blood pressure medications can also be used to prevent migraines depending on the rest of your medical history. Anxiety should be treated with non-narcotic containing medications such as Xanax or Ativan.
Avatar f tn 3 months after my hysterectomy, my gynecologist had put my on hormone patches to regulate my hormones. In January 2006, I had a grand mal seizure. Since then I had two more 6 months apart. I have been seizure free for almost a year. I take Keppra 1000mg twice a day, lexapro at night and multivitamins. I have tried pain management and it never broke the pain just relieve to a bearable state. I take tramadol, because that is all that seems to give some comfort.
Avatar f tn hi,were EEG and MRI were done?.Are you presently on some medications?.Your symptoms suggest absence seizure but this has to be corroborated by EEG findings. Were any blood tests were undertaken?
Avatar f tn I have had intermittent neurological symptoms and what appeared to be exacerbations but they have never found any new or enhanced lesions. My neuro and I have when back and forth on the possibility of a misdiagnosis of MS and going off my Copaxone. In August I had several “seizures” that were a couple of minutes apart that only lasted 10-30 seconds when I was coming out of anesthesia. The EEG done the next day indicated seizure activity primarily in the left frontal/temporal area.
