Avatar n tn The amount of blood pumped out of the heart (which sends oxygen rich blood to the head) can briefly drop. A brief loss of consciousness may occur. It quickly returns as your chest relaxes, intrathoracic drops and blood can again circulate to major organs. Your brain is once again happy and you start feeling better. The temporary lack of oxygen to your brain can cause some seizure activity. That may explain your symptoms after the event. There are other possible explanations, so you should.
Avatar f tn Tonight my dog started to huff behind me, I got up to move her to the tile and noticed that her eyes were rolled back in her head she was slightly moving her head around like she was attempting to open her eyes. I sat beside her and tried to comfort her and kept telling her to wake up. Then i had her lay down and was rubbing her belly. She was upside down with her head in my lap when her eyes finally went back to normal.
Avatar n tn When someone has severe end stage cirrhois of the liver due to alcohol, what happens when they have a severe seizure?
Avatar f tn t looked at a light source, and I have been hallucinating since the seizure. I would like to know if I should visit the emergency room, or if I can just tough this out.
Avatar f tn v never heard of this kind of reaction with an asthma attack, maybe someone else on the forum has experience with that. If his colour was good, then his attack probably wasn't severe. I think you're correct in that this is more likely a cardiovascular issue. I have a cousin who used to get seizures when she had extremely low blood sugar levels with her diabetes, so there are many causes for such a reaction. You probably should check it out with his doctor just to be safe.
Avatar n tn I finally insisted on going to the ER because I was having so much trouble breathing (later I learned that the seizure had caused my chest muscles to contract. The pain was like I had broken ribs. At ER I had a second seizure I don't remember while my mom was there. I was admitted to ICU for two nights. Today, thank God, I am okay. But so much worse could have happenned. Thei seizure could have happenned earlier in the day and no one would have found me. I could have hit my head.
Avatar m tn Just because you have been taking the same depression medication for a long time doesnt mean that its not related to the seizure. In fact it can be just the opposite. The more serious side effects of a mediction can often show up when you have taken it for a long period of time. You definately need to either see you regular doctor about the neurological symptoms you are having so he/she can either order an MRI for you or refer you to a Neurologist.
Avatar f tn Along the way he began falling in and out of sleep. When arriving at the clinic, upon getting it of the car he proceeded to vomit. While attempting to get him inside and onto a gurney, he then went into a full Grand Mal seizure...something he hasn't had In over 8 years. He was then rushed to the local ER where he was given heavy doses of anti seizure medication that did absolutely nothing to stop the seizure. He seized for approximately 8-10 minutes!
401370 tn?1233324682 A seizure can cause lack of oxygen, yes, thus causing the heart to endure lack of oxygen as well, and if there are underlying problems due to the fact, than yes- there CAN be damage.. I'd definitely get to the ER or a physician for an EMG...
Avatar f tn I agree with the others that a tracker a bit more like the heart tracker would probably be the best approach, but I too wonder if there is some way to include aura or pre-ictal and post-ictal tracking in there as well. I think also that it would be helpful to track seizure type. I wrote a couple from memory, and looked up a couple others.
Avatar f tn The disorder usually starts with involuntary repetitive movements of the lips, but other parts of the body may be eventually affected. The exact etiology is unclear but is is associated with long-term use of dopaminergic antagonists, neuroleptics, anticholinergics and certain psychiatric medications. It is common to see this in nursing homes. A woman I cared for developed it at age 99, and upon discontinuance of the meds, it diappeared at age 102. She now 108 years old.

Avatar f tn If It is too risky then I can`t take it!!!! Please help me. If the medication doesn`t go with my seizure condition, then please tell me what the safest antibiotic would be. Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Could the heart rate issue be part of epilepsy, or a symptom of the angioma, or a side effect of the keppra? I have always had low blood pressure, and was glad because I thought it would lower the risk of an angioma bleed. (Not as low as it was getting after I started taking the keppra.) Not only that, but supposedly blood thinners like aspirin supposedly increase the risk of a bleed. The high salt diet has helped a bit.
Avatar n tn My guess (and this is only a guess) would be massive heart attack or stroke. Either would stop blood flow to the brain and could cause the seizure-type symptoms. I've seen people have strokes and heart attacks and it sounds very similar to what your dog experienced. My very sincere condolences to you.
Avatar f tn once i stood up i was still very dizzy, confused and scared because i ended up completely turned around and on the ground of my shower. I do have history of low glucose and iron, but this situation was completely different than anything i have experienced before. I have let my parents know but i also want medical opinion. Please give me as much inout as possible. many thanks.
Avatar m tn Actually, it depends on the cause of the high heart rate. It's not the heart rate that causes issues in CPVT, it's the catecholamines as the name implies.
2197254 tn?1338502395 Hi the SA Node had a 40% blockage built up inside it and this was causing the SA Node to start having some form of spasms/seizures lasting approximatley a couple of minutes, during these spasm/seizures my heart rate would drop to 31bpm because not enough blood was being pumped into my heart during the spasm/seizure and as soon as the spasm/seizure would end my heart rate went back up to normal rate, this was causing me to collapse on each occassion and other symptoms which is why they fitted the

1563022 tn?1296332599 Went to listen to live music at 7. Thought it would b nice to remember a weekend nite. Sat down and WHAM like I got smacked in the back of the head with a hammer. Was texting, started shaking REAL bad. Dropped phone. Lost it for 1-2 minutes. Acutuley aware of what was going on but was paralyzed. Is this a seizure? Spoke to a friend who has an epileptic friend and he said spots in front of your eyes is a good indicator one is coming. Had that at 5:30 or so. Worst in my life.
Avatar n tn Definitely hiccups. I thought seizure right away too. But the more ive read and researched its hiccups. Now i think they are cute rather than scary.
5466288 tn?1410485185 I was taken by ambulance to the ER.Every test done to check blood sugar, the heart, and for possible stroke, turned out normal. So I was diagnosed with vertigo, given a prescription for Antivert and rehydrated by IV since I was a little dehydrated.I forgot to mention that my blood pressure was VERY HIGH,although just two weeks prior it was very good.My question is could I have had some sort of seizure while sleeping, that left me with the vertigo and HBP? FYI,I have grand mal epilepsy.
Avatar f tn Epilepsy is a recurrent seizure disorder caused by abnormal electrical discharges from brain cells, often in the cerebral cortex. A seizure disorder affects about 0.5% of the population. A single seizure does not mean that someone has epilepsy. I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
