seizure

Avatar m tn Generally speaking, there should be at least a full year without seizure activity before you get behind a wheel. I would say there is zero chance of any physician clearing you to drive before that time. I could be wrong. There are some doctors who got their degrees with boxtops. A "second opinion" is meaningless. You got a raw deal, but the danger to others of you being behind a wheel is significant. The good news is, there is a good chance you will never again have a seizure.
327385 tn?1378360731 Stress can indirectly also affect patients with seizure. It causes an increase in cortisol levels which influences seizure activity. Have you been investigated for your seizures? What medicines have you been taking? If you have been taking antiepileptic regularly then seizures should be controlled. You need to discuss with your neurologist if any dose adjustments of your antiepileptic drug needs to be done or any alternative drug needs to be taken. Hope it helps. Take care and good luck!
1105450 tn?1375683721 No matter what negative that come into your lifes try to think of 3 positive things of why it CAN happen. And every morning when you wake up look in the mirror or say to you self "Today is going to be a good day and NOTHING is going to bring me down and if anything negative comes along, I accept the challenge and I will turn that into a POSITIVE" LADIES: keep your head up, we all have a special plan for our lives.

Avatar n tn Glad your getting some answers. I'll be praying for you both. My best friend had a seizure baby about 2.5 years ago and he is the cleverest little man. His development is close to a 4 year old. Just his speach is a little behind the rest of his development. Thoughts with you.
Avatar m tn you definitely CAN NOT stop xanax at 2mgs, the risk of seizure is great. you need to continue to taper down to 0mgs. many times the physical withdrawals for xanax dont start until many days later because of the long half-life and the time it takes to metabolize. it is still in your system now. when tapering down your anxiety will intensify that is part of the w/d process. it is best to have a doctor give you a taper schedule. tapering too quickly is dangerous.
Avatar f tn I was watching this kid sing and I went into a full-blown seizure cry....lol. Just wondering if anyone else saw it???? Nauty...........
Avatar m tn And the doses are adjusted so as to find the minimum possible dose that will not precipitate a seizure. Re-occurrence is usually not seen unless there is some change of the status of the patient. i.e. disease condition or weight. Hope this helped answer your questions.
Avatar f tn Note there is a difference between the cause of a seizure and a trigger. Seizures can be caused by head injury (at any time in your life), diabetes side effects, a high fever as a child or a virus/bacterium like meningitis. Triggers are things like alcohol drinks, flashing lights (like driving a car through shade/shadow or watching window blinds flickering the light from a breeze, or for some people anything raising the adrenaline level. In women, PMS is usually a trigger.
Avatar f tn My husband is a type 2 diabetic and is 70 years old. Out of the blue a few months ago he had an episode in the night that I didn't witness but the symptoms were that of a seizure according to the Doctor who saw him in the hospital (he had a fall at the time and had superficial facial wounds) The doctor put him on dilantin and they did an EEG. Then he was taken off the dilantin because the EEG didn't show anythin g.
Avatar f tn There are different types of epilepsy with different characteristics like grand mal epilepsy you have tonic clonic generalized muscle contractions, frothing, unconsciousness, twitches, metal confusion, some may lose bladder and bowel control, usually preceded by an aura of impending seizure. aura is a strange feeling of muscle stiffening, hearing weird sounds, smelling strange smells etc. absence seizure manifest as brief staring spells where the person is cut off from the surroundings.
Avatar n tn The temporary lack of oxygen to your brain can cause some seizure activity. That may explain your symptoms after the event. There are other possible explanations, so you should.share this info with your primary care doctor. My explantion is not a diagnosis. Best of luck to you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn many things can happen depending on duration of seizure - if they are still drinking - stop if they have stopped it could be a withdrawal seizure which usually occurs shortly after stopping ( few days - few weeks )
Avatar n tn however, after reading about some of the possible withdrawal symptoms (seizure, mainly), i am concerned about the physiological dependence. i am not under the care of a physician, i bought them off of the internet, so i cannot switch to a longer half-life benzo; i have to work with one of the above mentioned, if tapering is necessary. my question is, do you think tapering is necessary? i cut back to 1 mg a few days ago and have had no unpleasant withdrawal. thank you for your time and help.
Avatar m tn And whenever i dont wear contact lences, i m wearing glasses for power +1.75. Can Lower powered glasses increase power of my eye rapidly, Plz Plz Plz Advice me i am very woried about this..
Avatar f tn Hi- I'm sorry you guys. I really can't give you an exact amount or length of time to pass the seizure risk. It's anywhere from five to fourteen days; everyone is different. There's not a lot of difference based on amounts that you've taken. You still run the risk of seizure. I have to urge both of you to contact a medical professional about this.
778872 tn?1243740453 The Post-Polio (if indeed that is what this is) has added a cane, leg braces bilaterally, and a power chair as additions to my mobility since the diagnosis of PPS was made, due to the muscle weaknss of both legs. I've also developed several sleep disorders including "Alpha Wave Intrusions", a big problem with Restless Legs and sleep apnea due to weak diaphragm muscles. The worrisome thing is that these (TIA?) episodes are continuing.
Avatar n tn The thing is, i have been put on almost all of known anit seizure medications, none seem tobe as effective as it should be, i beleive at one time i was close to depression while on depakot, then i met a specialist who then put me on Zonegran, it worked for a couple years or so, then i moved to Las Vegas back in 03, it started again inspite the drugs, perhaps a combonation of stress, and lack of sleep could be the cause of it all?
Avatar f tn All are influenced by variables including length of eye, radius of curvature of the cornea, K constants intrinsic to the lens system in question, other variables unique to each surgeon.
Avatar f tn I am 4 months post surgery, and my experiance is a 27 year old with uncontrolled right temporal lobe epilepsy for 14 years having been on every combination of meds out there, I still continued on my days with complex partial seizures even on 4500mg of meds per day, so that is why I was put through complex testing to localize where the epilepsy was coming from, they focalized it and resected it out, and Ive been now 4mnths with 1 seizure and many auras, all of which have gone!
Avatar f tn I am sorry, but most antibiotics can cause seizures as complications and some like erythromycin and related antibiotics affect the efficacy of seizure medications. But if you need to take antibiotic, augmentin should be ok, but please take a multivitamin B with it. There is no antibiotic (in my knowledge) which can be considered 100% safe, but like I said earlier, the incidence of seizures with augmentin is pretty low. Hope this helps.
