No one can tell us why he is having so much pain or what is causing it therefore nothing is done for it. I have tried drugs like brufen and panadol and panadeine. He claims these do nothing and refuses to take them for that reason. I need to stop his pain somehow.
Avatar n tn I am a Type II diabetic (diagnosed 10 years ago) on metformin (1,000 mg. daily) and prandin (2 mg with meals). I have been diagnosed with a heart problem and have been exercising regularly as part of cardiac rehab. I have been experiencing frequent sugar lows, resulting in blurred vision and dizzyness. Last week, I awoke in the hospital after having diabetic seizures. I remember feeling weak and taking some glucose tablets. Apparently these weren't enough to ward off the seizure.

Avatar n tn Most doctors will consider tapering the dosage and discontinuing seizure medicines after a seizure-free period of 2 years. Some doctors taper seizure medications over 6 weeks. There is this study that shows no difference whether the medications are tapered over a six-week or a nine-month period. One advantage of shorter taper period is that the outcome of the attempt to discontinue treatment may be known sooner, shortening the period of adjustment for the patient.(http://content.nejm.

Have you been seizure free post medications or is the therapy and the dosages well titrated? if so, you could travel with the airway authorities apprised about your medical condition. Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I am 20 and was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 18 and was put on Depakote then taken off due to weight gain and put on Topamax, which is what I'm currently taking. Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago, after a prolonged seizure, my 16-month old daughter came into a deep sedation status. After the anti-seizure medications were reduced or even stopped, she did not wake up. As of today, she is still in a deep sedation (or light coma) mode. She is responding to pain by withdrawing her legs or arms, and her eyes do move from side to side when they are open. However, she has no reaction to stimulus such as light, sound, moving objects, etc.

Avatar f tn ve always been a little bit of a lightweight, I get a buzz pretty easily and I figured it was because I was on a lot of medications but I was always careful. Up until about a week ago I was on Hydrocortizone, Levoxyl, Humatrope, Enpresse (a Birth Control), and Topamax. Now last week I saw a new neuro for some seizure medicine complications and he is going to wean me off the Topamax and slowly put me on Lamictal, which I have begun, I am only on 25mg right now.
