Avatar f tn She would take Tylenol, and eventually the headache would go away. At the time we did not make the relation between headaches and birth control pills. One particular day she complained of a headache, pain in her right shoulder/arm, blurry vision in her right eye, and she couldn't remember certain things that normally she remembered. After taking Tylenol and sleeping a few hours, she woke up, still didn't feel right and laid back down.
631834 tn?1222544293 I have been on birth control for a few years and in the past year have been on a variety of medications for anxiety, depression, and PTSD. If you are pretty sure that you are going to be starting both relatively soon, I would recommend maybe getting the birth control and starting it for a few months before trying any kind of medication for depression. I experienced an increase in depression with Ortho-Tri (low) and you might want to see if you notice any changes with birth control first.
Avatar f tn If you're taking birth control pills, and just for general health, you might consider periodic visits to a gynecologist. Primary care docs are pretty clueless, especially about medications.
1627897 tn?1303253673 the cycle can be started artificially with the injectable medications. That way everything is timed precisely and the follicles can be retrieved when mature, but before they are ovulated. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Birth control pills are known to increase the chances of a TIA. And Seroquel is known to lower seizure threshold. One of these could be playing a part in your symptoms. Have these issues been discussed with your neurologist ?
Avatar f tn I started taking Birth Control less than a month ago and every few days I start feeling edgy, and have a hard time falling asleep. I have also awaken feeling this way too. I take my birth control RELIGIOUSLY and have not missed , however this month my period is very very light. Can Orlistat and the pill be taken together without causing the pill to be ineffective?

Avatar f tn I am taking birth control & have recently missed my period. I am 11 day's late now & have had unprotected sex on many occassion's with my fianc'e in the past two month's. I am also on an anti-seizure medication. I recently read somewhere that when your taking an anti-seizure medication, while on birth contol, it make's your birth control not work. I was wondering if this was true or not as I think I am pregnant. Please help me...
Avatar n tn I assume you mean Birth Control Pills, and yes it is always a possibility. They're not 100% effective, and certain medications can make them even less effective.
Avatar f tn hi, is it safe to take birth control pills for over a year?? And what medications do you recommend, considering that i have migraine? Yasmin or Diane???
Avatar f tn I went to my OBGYN last week and she gave me my first Birth Control pills for me to try. She gave me Junel 1/20, which are three weeks of small yellow pills and one week off so I can get my period. I was reading in all the little information attached with the pills that my medication for my seizures (Trokendi XR) may cause the Birth Control to break down and lose its ability to take effect. I have tried calling my doctor's office all week with no answer.
Avatar n tn As for the low B-6 level, while some medications can cause that, including birth control pills, could also be some faulty metabolic process is goofing up your absorption of some vitamins and minerals. So, an internal medicine doctor might can do a workup on you regarding the defiency and see if anything out of the ordinary is causing that, you know, get to the root of that problem if one exists.
Avatar f tn Up until about a week ago I was on Hydrocortizone, Levoxyl, Humatrope, Enpresse (a Birth Control), and Topamax. Now last week I saw a new neuro for some seizure medicine complications and he is going to wean me off the Topamax and slowly put me on Lamictal, which I have begun, I am only on 25mg right now. Today I had a very small amount of alcohol, a mixed rum beverage, which I mixed myself, and I felt absolutley awful.
Avatar n tn Due to the reading I do on medications, Lamictal and Topamax are also really good epileptic meds. Does she use birth control pills? A lot of epileptic medications cancel out the effectivness of bc pills so tell her to be careful so she does not get pregnant since her body is going though so much right now. Well, that is all I know that I can share. You can google this and read more. I am sorry to hear about your daughter having to live with this. I hope she gets better. Take care.

Depo have me migraines everyday to every other day, gained almost 100lbs, high cholesterol, took 2 years for it to get out of my system, etc... pills have me migraines also... so I'm good...
Avatar n tn I also feel unprotected without a condom. And for me birth control pills is not an option. I know that there are lot's of them with a very high quality, I read it here: http://motherhow.com/types-of-birth-control-pills/ But still...
Avatar n tn Birth control pills are generally safe and considered a good option for many women to prevent pregnancy. There are different types and working with your doctor to find the best one is the thing to do. This is between you and your doctor but it is untrue that taking birth control pills 'has side effects on your whole reproductive system" unless you consider it doing what it is supposed to while taking it, preventing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn suggested I go back on BC pills (which I have been off for about 4 years now) to see if it will help with symptoms. I started BC pills and took 1 month....I feel AWFUL. Horrible heartburn and nausea every single day. Heartburn so bad that when I lay down sometimes I feel like I'm going to throw up. I persevered and thought I would see if it worked itself out. After my 21 day pack was gone and I was on my week off.....all heartburn and nausea stopped.
Avatar f tn ) I have done tons of research over the past 25 years and I can tell you birth control pills are NOT the way to go. Ultimately the choice is yours and hers, and any thing I say is just advice of course.

Avatar f tn Hello, Since you had unprotected intercourse but you are having birth control pills so chances of pregnancy are less. If you are apprehensive regarding the status of pregnancy then the status of pregnancy needs to be made clear. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.
