Avatar f tn She has developmental delays, speech delays, a syrinx cyst on her spinal cord, low muscle tone, and a seizure disorder. We started Keppra in January for the seizures, and while she hasn't had anymore seizures, she is now getting to where she hits, bites, and pinches me (mommy) when she gets mad or upset. She only does it to me, if I am not around, she will bite her own forearm.
Avatar f tn She never had a grand mal seizure until she started taking depakote. When she skipped pills, she had a seizure. This passed February, she was suddenly diagnosed with polymyositis and she's taking more meds plus getting IVIG monthly. They recently lowered her meds for the polymyositis and I found out she lowered her meds for seizures too (not by doctor recomendation). She just had an EEG today to check how her seizures are going.
392042 tn?1200844860 I take tons of ultrams but hve never had a seizure from it. how common is it to have ultram induced seizures? could it be caused from just going cold turcky ?? or too much ultram in your body? and why are Doctors not aware of the addiction problems with this drug. even my own doctor told me that ultram was not addictive..

489924 tn?1209491123 Though, I am by no menas a doctor, I can say that it does sound like a seizure. But before a doctor will diagnose epilepsy, she will have had to have another seizure. (I pray that she doesn't and that this will go away! Statistics says that about 65% of people will have one seizure during their lifetime by the majority of those will never have another). If it is epilepsy, then rest assured that your baby will be ok.
Avatar m tn my stepdad has been recently diagnosed with a seizure disorder. He feels more sick on the medication than he did beforehand. Hes constantly throwing up from being so nauseous , he explains what he says his limbs are gonna explode, he also gets pounding headaches. He is on 1500mg 2x daily. Anyone else experience anything like this??
20244062 tn?1497357808 Just because he has not had a seizure in five years does not mean he is now seizure free. He will always run the risk of having them. As for your kids, the quick answer to your question is no. Just because one parent has epilepsy does not mean their children will have it. As for the jerking and twitching while they are a sleep. The only way to check if they are or are not seizures is to have a EEG done.
327385 tn?1378360731 my hubby thinks after the seizure is over all i need is sleep off the seizure tiredness.my seizure doc has told him to take me er so she can get reports. i was seeing a seizure spealist and wanted me to be put in hospital for four days to have video seizures and no one could keep my kids and with school i just couldnt do it. i just dont understand how i can have hypopituitary "but not bad enough to treat" ? my kids are scared to death of my seizures because i scream and turn blue now.
Avatar f tn You have been on a slow taper program, the chance that you have suffered or will suffer a seizure is pretty non-existant. You need to follow up with your doctor if you continue to have these concerns. Sinusitis causes every single symptom you complain of....as can anxiety. You have obviously been very very very preoccupied with every aspect of this taper..which is most definitely adding to your symptoms and keeping that anxiety cycle going in full swing.
20906878 tn?1615876675 t realized and she said that the EGG seems to be fine and only blur part was the deep breathing one. My doctor said that the EEG recorded the onset of a seizure and diagnosed me with epilepsy and Tourette's. I left the lab feeling fine. I even walked 6 mls. Shortly after going home,I felt so tired I felt the need to sit down, soon I had a huge massive headache and drowsiness. Next two days were hell,I was feeling nauseous, tremors as if a seizure was starting and I was very very irritated.
Avatar f tn ve tried without success. So in 2000 I went to my doctor about it and he gave me wellbutrin(Same result as Zyban but covered by my insurance). Anyways, a week to the time I popped the pill in my mouth, I had a Grand Mal seizure and would up in the hospital for a week. I lost my job and ended up getting so behind in my bills I had to declare bankruptcy in 2005. I found out when I was in the hospital that i have a seizure disorder.....but seems to be caused by environmental/drugs.
Avatar n tn A few minutes later he was throwing up. Then got really tired afterwards. He does have a seizure disorder. And is taking medication 2 times a day. Why did this happen? Im scared and don't really know what to do. Was it the weed that made him do this, or the medication he's taking? I don't want him to do it again but I'm afraid he'll want to and that one of these times he's not gonna gain consciousness....
Avatar f tn It is important to accurately describe the seizure, timing of the day the seizure occurred and also in what setting. Then the question arises if the seizure should be treated – this is answered by looking at the risk and benefits of having a recurrent seizure and the side effects of the antiepileptics. Ultimately, the workup will need to identify the cause of the seizure. Is it from an intracranial lesion, an epileptic syndrome, stress, etc? You will need to have neuroimaging performed (i.e,.
Avatar f tn About 20 years ago, I was sitting with my kids and husband, then came to in the hospital. They said I had fainted and was talking to them, but I had no memory of that. They took multiple tests, but came up with nothing wrong. I was weak for several days, but then was back to normal.
1925822 tn?1333705617 Well i had at some point a real good doctor experience today.the dr.asked me so many things and listened carefully and took so many notes.he touched different points and then he honestly told me that he cannot tell me exactely what of all the possibilities is my problem.i loved this as he didnt tell me super sure it is this.he actually mentioned all the things that i have researched so far in one year in one conversation.
Avatar n tn My 20 year old son has had two episode in roughly the last year and is being diagnosed with a seizure disorder. Last April 17th, he sat down to a computer mid-morning in college, and turned on the computer. The next thing he knew he was in an ambulance, with no recollection of the transition. At the time, he had not eaten and was drinking a non-caffinated soda (not the diet variety). The hospital ran an EKG and a CAT scan and told him they could not find a cause.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar f tn Hello. You have done a good job by bringing this to the forum. There is a possibility of a partial seizure. But you should also consider something called as eye tics. These are not so uncommon in infants. You may need to get an EEG done. A video EEG is preferred. It has the advantage of letting us see the brain waves during such an episode or up rolling of eyes. Did he have any significant birth complications?
Avatar f tn While I tapered I did all of my normal daily thing took care of my kids not to mention I had a job working with kids .exersise really really helps.even if it just walking. You can do it !!!!!!!
Avatar n tn She may need a neurological exam as it indeed sounds a bit like a seizure. But your primary care doctor is the place to start and go from there. Best of luck to you and do please come back and tell us what the doctor says.
Avatar m tn My 4 yr old son was diagnosed with seizure disorder 7/2012. Genetic and metabolic work-up turned out negative.  MRI  did show cortical dysplasia, Left Temporal Lobe. We've done monotherapy with Trileptal  and failed, and have recently added Keppra on the regimen. So far, he hasn't had his night time seizures but he has these episode in the morning where he gets startled, starts grunting,  his arms gets stif; it lasts just a few seconds so I could never get a video of it.
963651 tn?1247528914 Rarely, non-epileptic seizures can occur in relation to syncope due to severe oxygen deprivation to the brain. It is possible that this might be what you are experiencing. This describes a few cases of anoxic seizures, though it doesn't specifically get into cases of people who have chronic neurocardiogenic syncope rather than syncope that is, for example, triggered purely by aversive stimuli like the sight of blood: http://www.john-libbey-eurotext.
327385 tn?1378360731 The face drooping that was noted to occur before your grand-mal seizure is not a sign of that you are having a stroke before your seizure. Seizures can be partial onset, in which the seizure starts in a specific part of the brain, and then may or may not spread to other areas of the brain, leading to a grand-mal seizure (the other type of seizure is generalized: it starts throughout the brain more or less at once).
1563022 tn?1296332599 Lost it for 1-2 minutes. Acutuley aware of what was going on but was paralyzed. Is this a seizure? Spoke to a friend who has an epileptic friend and he said spots in front of your eyes is a good indicator one is coming. Had that at 5:30 or so. Worst in my life. Just wanted a little "normal" Friday night. Is this part of wd's? Been through enough but was told expect more....usually you get more than one. Scared to death to drive. Sat for hours drinking water.
