Avatar f tn Since then, every somewhat elevated temperature will result in a seizure. We have been to the emergency a few times and were always told that he is in fact experiencing febrile seizures which are of no concern. The seizures never last longer than a few minutes, at most. One ER doctor did however order an EEG since on one occasion he's had multiple seizures (10 short seizures in 2 hours). The EEG showed "activity" on one side of the brain (right temple).
Avatar f tn Yeah they keep saying it was a fever seizure because she has had one before. But the one she had before she had a little bit of a fever then it spiked and she had a seizure. But this time she was fine running around acting fine . Then all of a sudden she had a seizure. And she didn't have a fever tell after they tried to put I iv in a hour later. But even then was not even hot. Then we she had her seizure at night we went back to the er and she didn't even have a fever.
Avatar n tn They are called benign, not because the seizures are not real, but in the vast majority of cases, these seizures will cease in 1 to 2 years. ....... , the seizures seen in benign infantile seizures are often very difficult to control (as you can atest to). Usually, they occur in clusters and can occur every few hours (as you accurately describe)." She has had numerous tests for various different things, MRIs, spinal tap etc.and nothing has been found.
Avatar n tn Ideally, one should have three EEGs over a period of 2-3 months. If all are normal, one can say with more confidence that this is not a seizure. In many cases, inter-ictal (between the episodes) EEG is normal. He has myoclonic jerks. These could be post viral syndrome. Was his neurological examination normal?
Avatar f tn Thank You! She Has A Doctors Appointment Tomorrow Morning.
Avatar f tn s said my daughter was looking shy with her head down and when they asked her to sit down for lunch, she looked up but her eyes were looking out the corner of each eye, in opposite directions. So this is not exactly cross eyed but in fact I guess the opposite. The carer's got quite a fright and called her to stop it. They clapped in front of her and she then snapped out of it and went back to normal. This happened twice in the same day. Should I be concerned about this?
Avatar n tn a 20hr challenge fast was performed and her BS dropped to 40 in the 14th hr. they continued and adm glucagon then did the challenge test. results arent in. what does this sound like it could be-i mean i know its hypoglycemia but the results will show WHY and i am so nervous of WHY this happened. shes home now and i have a glucometer and feed her every 3 hours. was this normal protocol?

Avatar n tn She has a 15-month-old son (our grandson) who we are trying to protect from being put at risk in case she would have a seizure while she is alone with him. She has had 4 grand mal seizures in the past year - the last one just 4 months ago - and her original Neurologist told her in August that she should not live alone or drive for a minimum of 6 months. She agreed to leave the baby with us but opted to move into her own apartment in August.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a problem with a seizure medicine causing irreversible weight gain? My daughter was a thin child, who took Tegretol for seizures, and gained a large amount of weight in a short time. We stopped the medication, but the weight did not reduce.
Avatar f tn Is it common for people who suffer with seizures to have memory loss with events or measures of time if they HAD NOT had a seizure any time near the episode that they cannot remember?
Avatar n tn She is now age 31 and seemed to be in excellent health until April 2008 when she had a grand mal seizure out of the blue. Since then, she's had approximately 10 more. Does anyone know of other adults diagnosed with seizure disorder that had Kawasaki as a child? Just seems like there might be some connection between the seizures and Kawasaki. My daughter went to the seizure clinic at Barnes hospital in St. Louis back in August for an extended EEG.
Avatar n tn When we first got him about 6 months ago he would eat anything and everything you put in front of him. Now he has gotten to where he will hardly eat anything but he drinks constantly. It doesn't matter what you give him to drink he will drink all of it and instantly want more. When he is drinking he drink he doesn't just drink it he downs almost the entire drink before sitting it down. When he finally does put it down it is only because he is out of breath.
Avatar f tn Ever since I was a toddler I have had panic attacks. My heart races, I hyperventilate , crying, but the thing that worries me is when I have an episode, my whole body clinches and almost vibrates. This happens in pulses. There are no triggers to my 'panic attacks' other than my chronic nausea, and none of my doctors have told me why this happens. I also tend to get visual migraines often. After a panic attack, I can't remember what happened other than I had an episode.

384099 tn?1226443429 I am 15 years old and had head trauma when I was a toddler. As long as I can remember every once in a while I can feel tense pressure come and I would shake my head vigorously for second or two. I can't find anything like it on the internet.
Avatar f tn Is it normal for a toddler (15 months) to stim by poking/ rubbing his eyes? He does this whenever he is having his bottle. We always hold him while he is 'nursing'. I am a special education teacher and have seen such behaviors in older children with disablilites, but I am not sure about a normal toddler. This is my grandson and none of my four children ever did this kind of thing. He talks, points and communicates in many ways quite normally.
Avatar f tn At this point he was 17 months old, and after researching the effects of topamax online myself and no seizures for 4 weeks, I slowly and correctly weaned him off of the medication all together. He has had no seizure since then.... this was in the beginning of March 2008, he is about to be 2 now, and has been doing fine. He has always had allergies in which he takes Zyrtec for them, has eczema, and slight asthma, and thats it. BUT he is not progressing as well as I would think.

1049076 tn?1256009417 Hey everyone, I am new here and was wondering if someone can give me some information. Let me give you some background. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy. He is going through some health issues that no one seems to know what it is. He is failure to thrive, not growing or gaining well (I read this is common in hypo for this age). He has coarse hair, and is cold a lot (for example we were at a store and his teeth were chattering).
Avatar f tn Last year after marriage the frequency increased. Thrice in 3 months. We went to a different doc. He said that he had primary generalized seizure or a right right frontal focus with hemispheric bisynchrony. He also said that carbamazepine is not right medication for it so slowly changed it to kepra. My husband dint have seizures for 5 months. After carbamazepine was completely stopped and he was completely on kepra , he got seizure. He takes 3700 MG ok kepra per day.
Avatar f tn When I was an infant/toddler and teething, I had a couple febrile convulsions. Supposedly you have to have a high fever for it but I would do this at temps of less than 101 degrees F. The doctors tried me on some medications but my mom said I acted like I was seeing spiders everywhere so I wasn't on it that long. They decided that I just wasn't allowed to have a fever from then on.

Avatar m tn Then in the early evening, he had a major seizure. This time, he had three of them in a row, and afterward, was back to lethargic. As money is tight because of Christmas, we had no money to take him to the vet until today. He has been lethargic ever since Saturday morning, will only eat beef and rice that I make him and not much of it, he's drinking some water and using the bathroom outside like normal, but all he wants to do all day is sleep. It's very sad. Sooo not himself!
Avatar n tn I get something similar... when in a warm room (doesnt happen in a cold room) the shakes / trembling when first waking up if i'm disturbed from sleep... which lasts 10-20 seconds... sometimes a little more... but then settles down.... and goes away... I am able to respond during that time and am conscious... i'm just very trembly - sometimes the trembly feeling takes a couple minutes to go away.... I never mentioned it to a Doctor... or discussed with anyone else...
