Common Questions and Answers about Seizure in teenagers

seizure

Avatar f tn t had depakote in a few days (I found a pill hidden again). I did not see any seizure activity in her face and also watching the monitor I didn't notice any there either. After the EEG, I asked her when she last took depakote. She said last Saturday (that was almost a week ago). I've been told these seizures are something she can out grow which would be super great for her.
Avatar m tn Recently, I've noticed 8-9 floaters. Should I be worried? Is it going to get worse? From what I've read, floaters in younger people are located in the premacular bursa but what exactly causes it?

Normally i find something to hold myself up with but occasionally i lose control over my body and end up falling to the floor. When this happens its extremely unsettling because i'm concious throughout and i'm unable to move or speak.
Avatar n tn Hello, My sister has had diabetes type 1 since she was 3 and she is now 10, which brings the question into my mind... How is it that teenagers and adults deal with diabetes during sleep? Bacause upto now there's always one of us waking up to check on her, and I know one day she will be independent and not live with my parents anymore. How do people handle that situation? Bacause it is something that you cannot monitor by yourself, when you are very low you may not be able to wake up alone.
Avatar n tn He had no memory as to putting them there. Yesterday I put in some laundry and then later put my clothes in the dryer. I left the house. He then came home and did his laundry and when it came time to dry them he took my clothes out and put them in a basket without folding or hanging some of it up. I came in and asked who did that and he swore it wasn't him. I knew it wasn't me nor my wife so that left him. He swore up and down that he didn't do it.
Avatar f tn t blame you. Me and my husband were in the process of talking about having a baby. But had to see doctors before trying to have a baby due to the fact for me having seizure disorder. The family were aware of our actions. Once we got the heads up from the doctor saying it's okay to have a baby. My little sister who's 16 announced that she's pregnant stole my thunder!!!
Avatar f tn Most likely - and somewhere in their room are two towels or wash cloths that are in desperate need of being washed. Relieve some of their anxiety - and some of yours - by telling both of them that, if they are "spunking", you're not going to alert the newspapers and radio stations or have them arrested for doing something entirely normal for teenagers but it isn't healthy for them not to clean whatever it is they're using to wipe themselves off afterwards.
Avatar f tn I think teenagers really need a Parental Guidance in every step of their way and they need help in their every endeavors. This is the time where they usually want to be with peers instead of being with their family and are most of the time, hard headed because they usually seek for independence.

He said that he had primary generalized seizure or a right right frontal focus with hemispheric bisynchrony. He also said that carbamazepine is not right medication for it so slowly changed it to kepra. My husband dint have seizures for 5 months. After carbamazepine was completely stopped and he was completely on kepra , he got seizure. He takes 3700 MG ok kepra per day.

Avatar m tn Then in the early evening, he had a major seizure. This time, he had three of them in a row, and afterward, was back to lethargic. As money is tight because of Christmas, we had no money to take him to the vet until today. He has been lethargic ever since Saturday morning, will only eat beef and rice that I make him and not much of it, he's drinking some water and using the bathroom outside like normal, but all he wants to do all day is sleep. It's very sad. Sooo not himself!
Avatar f tn Good idea alikat1205. There are a few teenagers in my life (one nephew in particular) that I would like to have some impact on. He is very spoiled and just doesn't get not everyone gets what they want. It seems like he has no feeling for other people whatsoever.
Avatar f tn The vet said she had an epileptic seizure and gave her some Valium for me to give her if she has another seizure. All has been well until tonight(10-13-08). I was reading on the net that dogs do not have epilepsy, it is strictly a human condition. I want to believe my vet but.... Will you please explain to me what causes seizures in dogs and what I can di to prevent it?
Avatar m tn Maria, your symptoms sound like Multiple Schlerosis to me. It looks different in teenagers than it does in adults, and your symptoms seem pretty classic. The good news with MS is there are a LOT of new medications and new research that makes the outcome much brighter. Does this article sound like you? http://www.livestrong.
Avatar n tn Take your time with them because time goes so fast and then they are teenagers before you know it. You will not regret staying home to take care of them!! Enjoy this blessing in your life.
Avatar n tn Even teenagers can get MS or other neurological problems that usually are only found in adults. My suggestion is to continue to look for a doctor who can accurately diagnose what's wrong and what can be done to fix it. For unusual cases a large teaching hospital is a good place to start because their doctors are usually experts in their fields.
Avatar f tn study leader Ghada El-Hajj Fuleihan, MD, of the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon, says in a news release. Kids are advised to get a daily vitamin D dose of 200 IU. That suggestion came from an Institute of Medicine panel that based its recommendation on the amount of vitamin D needed to prevent rickets in infants. However, more and more vitamin D experts have begun to suggest that children and adults need much more vitamin D than previously recognized.
