Avatar f tn EEG and MRI looked normal, EXCEPT for white spots in pituitary gland. One pregnancy 5 years ago. Neuro said they could be leftover lesions from small bleeds during pregnancy? Referred for another MRI. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

1882215 tn?1322789327 t already suggest that from the beginning....this is someone who specifically specializes in medication during pregnancy and the risks involved, and he/she will monitor you and baby using special tests and diagnostics to make sure that your meds and your epilepsy are not affecting baby...he/she will also know the safest course of action as far as using the meds or switching. You could also contact a pharmacist and speak about their recommendations...
568343 tn?1217862660 I have had 1 seizure so far in this pregnancy I am now 8wks and it is a concern for me because last I saw my seizure doc I was not preg. yet about 3 and a half months ago but I go to see my baby doc.
Avatar f tn It is advisable to keep your seizures under control throughout pregnancy. Seizure during the last month of pregnancy or during labor can harm the baby. It is advisable that your obstetrician watches for any seizure and is well prepared to manage if seizure happens during labor. Not treating a seizure during pregnancy can be dangerous for the fetus.Monotherapy for seizures is usually indicated during pregnancy rather than polytherapy for decreasing the incidence of birth defects in the fetus.

Avatar f tn Last year after marriage the frequency increased. Thrice in 3 months. We went to a different doc. He said that he had primary generalized seizure or a right right frontal focus with hemispheric bisynchrony. He also said that carbamazepine is not right medication for it so slowly changed it to kepra. My husband dint have seizures for 5 months. After carbamazepine was completely stopped and he was completely on kepra , he got seizure. He takes 3700 MG ok kepra per day.

Avatar m tn Then in the early evening, he had a major seizure. This time, he had three of them in a row, and afterward, was back to lethargic. As money is tight because of Christmas, we had no money to take him to the vet until today. He has been lethargic ever since Saturday morning, will only eat beef and rice that I make him and not much of it, he's drinking some water and using the bathroom outside like normal, but all he wants to do all day is sleep. It's very sad. Sooo not himself!
Avatar f tn My neurologist said topamax was too dangerous. So with my first pregnancy i did have a seizure at like 4 weeks and I still kept on taking my medicine (carbatrol) afterwards. All came out fine with baby. Hes now 4 yrs old and now on my second pregnancy at 29 weeks and the baby is very healthy as well. We cant stop medicating ourselves its worse to actually have a seizure but it all depends on your doctors opinion. Hope my info helped a little bit.
Avatar f tn I have done really well until last week when I had major seizure and woke up in emergency. Nurses checked the baby's heart rate and gave me the all clear. Does anyone know if there are other things I should look out for to make sure no harm was had to my little guy?
Avatar f tn The vet said she had an epileptic seizure and gave her some Valium for me to give her if she has another seizure. All has been well until tonight(10-13-08). I was reading on the net that dogs do not have epilepsy, it is strictly a human condition. I want to believe my vet but.... Will you please explain to me what causes seizures in dogs and what I can di to prevent it?
Avatar f tn My first pregnancy they forced me to get the epidural cause my blood pressure was to high to the point I could have a seizure. Will my second pregnancy be the same as my first?
410208 tn?1253658950 Since the EEG most definitely showed seizure activity, you have a good case in your hands for an explanation of your symptoms and the EEG. It is quite easy to understand that the abnormal EEG and the seizure are not related to the pregnancy, but I am surprised how the EEG report has not convinced some of your doctors about a possible seizure. Usually, it is not a very hard task to diagnose epilepsy. But the most important part is the task of selecting the appropriate medicine.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a first time pregnant mom to be at 35 and I have some complex med problems that require maintenance meds. I'm epileptic with a small brain tumor and taking Lamotrigine, which I know isn't great for the baby. But I'm low dose (200 mgs a day) and a seizure will most likely cause more injury to the baby than stopping. I also have an anxiety disorder and chronic pain due to a failed knee surgery a few years ago.
Avatar f tn Not knowing a seizure happened is very normal. You should probably get him an EEG that would give you the most information. Just understand that we don't know a lot about the brain, so knowing why someone has a seizure isn't something that can be answered. Do not take what I'm saying in place of what a doctor will tell you. I want to stress that I'm not a doctor.
Avatar m tn Our youngest daughter, who will be 8 in March, had a seizure induced by a fever in early November. The seizure lasted about a minute or less and she was convulsing and lost consciousness. I was shocked and scared because she had not had a febrile seizure since shortly before her third birthday. The only other seizure she had was at 15 months, and again, was a febrile seizure.
Avatar n tn The recent episode that you have described could well be an atonic seizure. In an atonic seizure, all the body muscles lose their tone. Had your son been older and sitting or standing, he would have fallen on the spot. The neck muscles lost tone. But the eyes were turned to left as this is a normal "doll's eye" reflex. You should convey this information to the pediatrician. Atonic seizures may continue for a few years. You will have to watch for further episodes.
Avatar n tn Has he seen in a neurologist? Not just in the ER, I mean, but for a more extensive workup. It's not impossible that he has a seizure disorder (e.g., some form of epilepsy) that is not related to his diabetes. An electroencephalogram (EEG) could be helpful, even, if necessary, a 24-hour one if they couldn't otherwise catch the seizure activity. Good luck.
