401370 tn?1233324682 Not meaning to butt heads with you, just trying to be informative and helpful. Is a complicated issue. Listening to his complaint and description tells me he is not suffering any long-term issues from the seizure he had. Most people suffer nothing, except for going through the post-ictal state (term for after seizure) they are usually very tired and suffer from short-term memory loss.
Avatar f tn Hi! Lupus is an autoimmune disorder. So the cause is actually not known. Lyme's cannot cause lupus. But yes, certain medications like certain antibiotics used in Lyme's, certain anti-seizure medications, and anti-TB drug Isoniazid can cause lupus like reactions. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn His white blood count is on the high end of normal, his platelets on the low end of normal. Lupus in a 49 year old man? I just want to keep the various doctors on their toes. .... is there anything else they should be looking at?
462332 tn?1208414791 My neurologist explained that the lab report findings were of changes in the hippocampus and that such findings were normal in patients who have seizure disorders. (BTW, I was diagnosed with encephalitis at about 13 or so but my doctor was pretty poor and I highly doubt that's what it was.) However, he did find that my blood work came back with a positive reading for ANAs. He has since recommended that I speak with a rheumatologist.
764912 tn?1322711843 Perhaps if they had taken more notice of him his kidneys would not have been quite so compromised even though this can happen in Lupus it can be worse in cryo. Its quite normal for someome with one autoimmune to have another. Endometriosis for example is an autoimmune disease and many women are diagnosed with it, and there is a link to endo and women going on to get Lupus/MS/RA as well. Doctors need to look outside of the box sometimes.
Avatar f tn Dear Amy, Oh, I think you may have Lupus. Your hair loss, feeling of glass in your eyes, seizures, plus the symptoms that led to a previous diagnosis of fibromyalgia, this points to Lupus, specifically Systemic Lupus Erythramatosis (not sure of spell) or SLE. Here is a great link that tells you everything you need to know about the disease, altho I'm sure there are many more: http://www.medicinenet.com/systemic_lupus/article.
Avatar f tn ve mentioned that sounds like it could be something like Lupus.......keep in mind that your symptoms and blood test results should of been suggestive of Lupus and the only abnormal result that came up in your blood work was the low vit B12, so it's less likely to be Lupus and more likely associated with what you already know....
Avatar m tn with a rhumatologist or a Neurologist. A Rhumy specializes in systemic conditions like Lupus. And alot of conditions like Lupus have many neurological symtoms. Rhumys can run really in depth tests for alot of diseases that regular DR's dont do as indepth when they test you for them. It is extreamly difficult to diagnos Lupus and SLE in most cases because they can mimic other conditions and illude tests until they reach a certain stage or point.
368646 tn?1208393887 Is it possible that I could have lupus or fibromyalgia (or any other inflammatory disease)causing the hemagioma to burst ? Does inflammation have to subside before healing can begin? Thank you for your time and attention!
Avatar f tn i went to the docs last week and told her i thought i have lupus. she saw my butterfly rash that day, as i sat in the sun for about an hour before the appointment. upon looking at my history of complaints, past lab results, and the symptoms i had that day, she all but said she thinks i have it too. my past ana test was negative, but i was also having a decent day when the blood was drawn. this time, i was having a bad day, and she drew my blood for another ana test.
Avatar f tn t suffocating but I was pushing air out, was it some type of seizure? I had a aunt who had epilepsy and migraines run in the family. Also I have lupus.
Avatar f tn patients who had been treated for Hypothyroidism by taking NDT (natural desiccated thyroid) NEVER developed Lupus and the ones who had been diagnosed with Lupus already, did not have any further organ involvement , upon starting the NDT treatment with Dr Barnes. Please do not leave it to chance, nor to your doctors, who are often responsible for the decline of their patients health. If you need any further details, let me know.
Avatar n tn what is causing my hair lose? is it my seizure medications or my sickel cell anemia medications. thank you.
Avatar n tn I am having my follow up visit with the neuro in 4 days. I was given anti biotics as soon as they gave me the diagnosis. I did feel a lot better for 4 days after starting these, but have now slipped back to the intense symptoms. I know I am rambling, but like a lot of you am looking for some guidance. I just feel that my symptoms are odd enough to tell me something is not right.....
Avatar n tn Yes she started with a seizure, brain, 10 years ago...had no idea she even had Lupus..then life got really bad..she had a brain tumor and that's when they figured out she had LUPUS..I don't think the two were related at all..the brain tumor and the LUPUS..they just happened to find the lupus. So for the last 10 years she had tested positive for the lupus and the last 18 months she has tested negative. They were able to operate and get the tumor out it was NOT cancer.
Avatar n tn Doc, what about microvascular ischemic changes in someone who has been tested and does NOT have diabetes, lupus, or hypertension, who has low cholesterold with risk ratio 2.8. Normal EKG. Tilt table test confirmed that I have vasovagal syncope - said to be a mild case. BP normal at 120/80 but sometimes it drops to 110/70, 80/50. I also have grave's disease but thryoid panel is all in correct range. I had an MRI because of the persistent dizziness. What would cause this?
Avatar n tn I have a 5mm Chiari, with alot of symptoms. I've been seen by the best and passed around by the rest! I have myoclonic seizures, spasms, and twitches (over 500 a day!). Trouble with my gait, lose of smell, blurred vision, head pain, exshaustion, memory problems... and the list goes on. The one thing that seems to keep everything under control is predinsone (I also have Lupus and EDS) I'm at 35mgs a day right now, and that makes almost all of the symptoms go away.
Avatar f tn Hello, I would love to hear from anyone who wants to share how their doctor arrived at a firm diagnosis of lupus. I am 29, in good health until recently, thin, a non-smoker, and I have 3 young children. I just had an appt with my neurologist who had run tests to figure out why I am experiencing some odd neurological symptoms. My brain/spine MRI was normal as was an EEG. My ANA was 1:640 which he called "weakly positive" though I've since read that it's quite high.
Avatar f tn My problems started almost 3 years ago with a few bouts of vertigo. Now it has manifested itself info jerking of my right shoulder or unilateral body shaking on my right side when all of my weight is on my right leg. This happens when I am on something unbalanced, if I hear loud noises or certain frequencies, & I get the arm jerking when I see flashing lights. I just finished physical therapy & he found that lifting up on my head stops the shaking.
Avatar n tn My 11 year old son suffered a local seizure in left leg followed by a general seizure in 3 hrs. he was suffering frm high fever and was on malaria drug along with doxycycline. his reports like MRI, veinography, CFS, EEG AND OTHER BLOOD TESTS R NORMAL.what could be the reason of seizure? will it repeat. what r the precautions to be taken.
Avatar f tn when i was first hospitalized in o4 the drs said that there was either a case of lupus going on or something like ms. lupus was actively persued and ms not, as my ana was 180 which was extremely hign so thats my story. what else can mimic ms?
Avatar f tn A week or two after first noticing these symptoms, I had what sounds to my neurologist like, a tonic clinic seizure. I would go on to have three of these in the next four-five months, none of which were witnessed. Two were just after waking up and one was in a Kroger bathroom floor.... Yuck. Ha! (Glad I laid my coat out beside me before that one happened so I didn't 'come to' directly on the nasty floor). Went to a neurologist who did EEGs, and a brain MRI which came back clear.
