Common Questions and Answers about Seizure in children emedicine

seizure

Avatar f tn some people got headaches from the injections, one person had a seizure, and others were helped. I would die to get some help for this horrible pressure/tightness around my forehead, on top of my head, and around my eyes, and around the incision from the craniotomy. But I worry about seizures...the last thing I want is to trigger a seizure, considering my medical history, and liklihood of recurring seizures. Has anyone had any experience with botox?? Any help is appreciated....
Avatar f tn The EEG findings would help us with this since this would tell us the possible areas of the brain involved in the seizure. If there are frontal lobe problems, then this may explain part of the behavioral problems but not entirely. The child's environment and psychosocial support also have a great impact in the child's behavior. A concomitant ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) can also be present, and this should be evaluated and treated by a developmental pediatrician.
Avatar m tn Our youngest daughter, who will be 8 in March, had a seizure induced by a fever in early November. The seizure lasted about a minute or less and she was convulsing and lost consciousness. I was shocked and scared because she had not had a febrile seizure since shortly before her third birthday. The only other seizure she had was at 15 months, and again, was a febrile seizure.
Avatar f tn Do you recall any of your other children having had seizures in the past ? Did Danny himself have any seizures in the past ? Family history is a very important history to be told to the doctor.
Avatar m tn Last month I had an aion event in my right eye, lost bottom half of vision. Last week I had a second event in my right eye with further vision loss. My neurologist says I willl not regain any vision, yet you state recovery is good. What do you base your comments on, do I have any hope?
Avatar n tn My 9 yr old grandson has a seizure disorder that may be linked to autism. He is on Depakot & Risperdal. The main problem is his inability to realize when he needs to use the toilet, resulting in having bowel movements. He can sit forever until someone notices the odor. It doesn't bother him & his doctors don't seem too concerned. Could the medication w or w/o the disorders have anything to do w/this problem. Or, is it some other reason?

Avatar n tn My epilepsy is a lot like yours. I had my first and only seizure at 16. I am now 22 and expecting a baby in April! When I was dianosed with epilepsy they put me on topamax which was a wonder drug. It keep my seizures under contol perfectly. My husband and I married last year and decided early spring we were ready for kids.
Avatar m tn Absence seizures are more common in children than adults. Someone having an absence seizure may look like he or she is staring into space for a few seconds. Compared with other types of epileptic seizures, absence seizures appear mild. But they can be dangerous. Children with a history of absence seizure must be supervised carefully while swimming or bathing because of the danger of drowning. Teens and adults may be restricted from driving and other potentially hazardous activities.
Avatar n tn He is extremely anxious , especially when on his medication in strange unfamiliar settings but does quite well at school and has lots of friends. He has been out of routine of late with school holidays and 10 weeks ago had a increase in medication to 1 tab in the morning 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 at 3.30 pm. I am extremely concerned that he is developing tourettes or does this mean it has always been there?
Avatar n tn Sometimes people will just have one seizure and never have anymore. My daughter had a seizure back in 2007 . We had the tests which came back clear then as more things where happening we had a sleep deprived EEG which did show up epilepsy. I do have an uncle who has epilepsy. As you have been given the all clear, fingers cross no more seizures will occur. I wish both your daughter and yourself good health.
Avatar f tn I was taken in by ambulance and had a million tests done and nothing came up as to why I had a seizure. Obviously I know it is from the Tramadol but no one else knows I am addicted. After having every test possible, the doctors wanted me to go on 1000mg Keppra. I chose not to because I knew it was from the Tramadol and am terrified of the Keppra side effects. Fast forward to a year and a half and I just had my 2nd seizure last Thursday night.

431644 tn?1236899573 I am wondering if SVT can be hereditary? Does anyone know if it is or have children who have it as well as you do?
Avatar m tn I had just returned from a walk and went to the wardrobe to hang my coat up when I could see quite a large black hole in front of my eyes. The area was black with bright blue centre and a yellow edge around the blue centre. I closed one eye but it was still there, I looked away from the dark wardrobe and I cloud not see, but I then looked at the back of a black chair and it was there again. After a short while it disappeared, after the event I felt hot and sweaty and my hands were trembling.
Avatar n tn Get a referral to orbital, ocular plastic, or neuroophthalmology specialist. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn You could also get a little tent or enclosed area for him to go when he gets overwhelmed. It does not sound like he is having a seizure, although some children with autism do suffer from seizure disorder. We also got our DD a service dog who helps calm her when she is upset. He has been a life saver. Generally you get a diagnosis from a developmental pediatrician, so my suggestion is to speak to this doctor about your concerns and they will point you in the right direction from there.
3136223 tn?1367960716 I don't know if this is the right forum or not but I need answers. On Saturday night (July 6th) my fiance's son was running a little warm, we figured it was due to playing outside all day (it was about 90 out) and from it being warm in the house. But he generally "runs warm" and everyone calls him "The Human Heater." Around 3:30 Sunday morning, my fiance and I got up so we could take his father to the airport and Brandyn was awake.
