215234 tn?1305142961 has been playing with it, I found it under the back of our bed, so shes obviously carried upstairs in her mouth,....I swear this Cat is actually a Dog in Cats clothing...lol Last time round I was fairly sure she'd had a leaf off a Xmas plant that was way out of reach to a normal Cat, thankfully our Vet said it wasn''t very toxic, just irritant, so would cause foaming at the mouth.......
Avatar n tn can a cat have seizures,a couple times now my cats woke me in her basket moving n shaking uncontrollaby i have to hold her til she calms down.
Avatar m tn Kidney problems in a cat are often seen when the cat is old, many cats that die of "old age" die of kidney failure. For an old cat, the only thing that can be done is to give him canned food if he will eat it, and keep him as hydrated as possible.
Avatar m tn She is a spayed 1and1/2 yr.old mix breed. She's currently on pheno-barb 2x daily. Still having occasional seizures, which seem to run in streaks. She'll have several over a few days, then goes several wks or more without. I cannot afford to sent her for an MRI. Do you have any suggestions. I've heard (read) cats w/ seizure disorders tend to have much shorter life-spans? Is there anything else I could be doing for her? Thank you for your time. She is much loved!
976897 tn?1379167602 I had 4 cats but unfortunately a few years ago I lost 2 to the dreaded C word. The remaining 2 seemed to be quite sickly cats and I say that because they would vomit at least 3 times a week. The Vet couldn't explain it and so I just assumed that they were scoffing mice or something in the woods behind my garden. Suddenly a few months ago I walked into the kitchen and my dog was laying on the floor shaking. He recovered and I rushed him to the VET who said it was a form of mild seizure.
7052683 tn?1392938795 OMG! Really? I believe cats can sense energy! I suppose spirits are energy. Do you think this is unusual for a cat to do, therefore , sensing energy in the form of a spirit ? We live in a building that is only 10 years old. Seriously, ZQ, I would hope for this to be the case. She is a pretty strange little kit, so anything is possible.
Avatar m tn Yes, this does sound like a seizure.....Whether it's the food or not, you must get rid of it!!! It's a terrible food and Purina is poisoning dogs all over this country with absolutely no recalls, yet dogs & Cats are becoming violently ill and/or dying on Purina foods....Last complaints I looked at were up to 4000 so far..... Get him on a food with No Dyes, No preservatives, No artificial Color, No by-products & very few grains such as whole grains...
Avatar f tn Fortunately, in many ways, our cats recover quicker than do we. Fortunately, in many ways, we learn from our deeds and can foresee the consequences of repeating them. It reads like Zachary still sees you as a being worthy of trust and affection, and like Beener cares for Zach, too. If his behavior is returning to normal, I'd at least consult with your regular vet about the happening.
1761287 tn?1313824787 Steroids are one of the important medications to treat asthma in cats and are necessary and can be life saving in serious cases. All medications, even those considered natural have side effects. The benefits do outweigh the risks in most cases if used appropriately. I really do recommend that you have a chest X-Ray if asthma is suspected. I also recommend that you follow your vets advise.
232077 tn?1218423343 When we stepped outside our bedroom we saw Opie laying on his side, twitching and excessive drool coming out of his mouth. In our 4 years of owning him we have NEVER witnessed him having a seizure or pretty much any other health problems really. We petted him and calmed him down and within a few minutes he was back to normal 100%. He even began playing around with his cat nip toys.
5624800 tn?1371656178 Two days ago one of my older cats tipped over a mirror that was leaning against my wall and it landed on one of my foster kittens (4 weeks old). I believe he was either in shock, or having a seizure after it happened that lasted for about 15-20 minutes. The whole night he wouldn't move much, or open his eyes. He responded to touch, and he purred only when I held him close. He sucked down his milk from his bottle really well.
Avatar n tn hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hypertension (high blood pressure), seizure activity, heart problems are all symptoms of stroke in cats.
Avatar n tn All my cats are indoor cats. Indoor cats live longer and stay healthier. I do leave them out in the back yard on weekends for about an hour, supervised of course.
Avatar m tn Revolution is primarily a treatment for fleas in cats and dogs but it is approved for ear mites in both.
1059731 tn?1254434164 When he is having the seizures now, I am able to grab him and hold him as comfortably in my lap while stroking him after the seizure. He recovers well. Im worried about him harming himself when we are not here. Will he recover as well if no one is around? I have an intermediate dog crate which I have place blankets in and have covered with blankets which he loves to lay in. I am thinking about padding the sides and locking him in while we are gone to work...
1563533 tn?1345366296 I have always had houseplants and my cats never seemed to care. My cats, however, were indoor-outdoor cats. I think cats require an outside life, unlike dogs whose life is with their masters.
Avatar f tn Hi Jen, This does sound like a sensitivity to phenobarbital. For those reading this, phenobarbital is an anti-seizure drug and our primary "go-to" drug for epileptic cats and dogs. Generally this drug is very safe and side effects are minimal if any and as long as the drug levels are normal and monitored via blood tests then the drug is safe long term. Rarely though we do see dogs who are sensitive.
Avatar m tn I have flown with my cats lots of time and never medicated them, but these were also cats who were used to being in a carrier, and used to being in a carrier in the car. Do you have any time between now and the trip to pack them up and take them for some long rides? Can you take them along on shopping trips? (All the in-and-out of the car for you will give them a chance to get bored, and pretty soon they might be sleeping.
1929044 tn?1323110088 I had access to a computer to seek information to help them so I called my mother who said the cats were doomed. We sat there with both cats wrapped in blankets (me being ready to perform CPR or whatever I could do to keep them alive). Finally after over 6 hours our cat Mittens seemed to snap out of it. She was very weak at first but was able to be put down on the floor and she did eat and I used a syringe to give her water.
514349 tn?1272801633 Drying herbs intensifies the scent. Like when you use dried herbs vs fresh.
2013578 tn?1341812012 ) Its an amino acid that strengthens the immune system so they can fight off this on their own, its usually viral in cats... but if in doubt at all please speak to a Vet first.....could also be that she has a small particle irritating her nasal passage (?) for cats with an acute attack we use 500mg for a week, than down to 250mg following for a few weeks. and for cats its important to use the brand with NO additives...just pure lysine. I will give you a link to where I order mine from...
Avatar m tn he has had an EEG done after the last seizure he has gone to the er after everyone and they said the EEG came back normal just him twitching in his sleep is different, i have never seen another child do that like he does.
Avatar m tn yes I have also heard before that cats as well as dogs can sense something in us....such as cancer or an oncoming seizure...I do believe Milo was telling you something wasn't right. I am always one who does things on the 'safe side' when told something like you've been I would add a day or hours rather than be wrong and opt for less time.
Avatar f tn Btw cats get jealous ive seen it first hand. One reason i dont want to leave my babies in her house.
