Seizure in animals

Common Questions and Answers about Seizure in animals

seizure

4943237 tn?1428991095 I have read that animals in general can often sense physical disturbances in the people they are around day to day before their human starts showing outward symptoms. Did your cat's different behavior start right before the onset of your illness? For instance, dogs can be trained to sense a seizure episode and alert their humans a seizure is coming on. I think our pets are able to discern much more than humans can. Call me crazy about this suggestion but stranger things have happened.
Avatar m tn There is an excellent thread regarding phenobarbital dosing and side effects in dogs having seizure activity. My family is in a similar situation, our 9 year old coon hound in excellent health had 3 grand mal seizures in less than 24 hrs. We had a basic work up done at the vet after the first seizure which essentially came back normal. We have started her on phenobarb and prednisone, but I am glad I checked out the thread b/c I did not know the medication side effects were so profound...
Avatar f tn Actually much friends puppy almost suffocate the baby because he too like the smell an taste of milk an after she fed her daughter he wanted to lick it off an almost took her breath away, I'd say watch with all animals just in case you never know. I've had a cat who was so mean any new baby he seen he'd try to sit on there heads like wtf cat we eventually got rid of him, he was a mini serial killer I swear never met such an evil cat.
Avatar f tn Believe me, i want to get rid of the cats. But i don't even mess with them. They're my husband's cats. He takes care of them i do not. They just like to annoy me. I honestly only take care of my dog, turtles, and our fish. But like i said, there's absolutely no animals allowed in my baby's room. None have ever gone in there and probably won't ever go in there. I'm keeping my baby away from the animals for quite a while.

Avatar f tn I recently switched rooms with my brother into my mom's back room which is bigger then my old room and my dog seems to think she moved in too. My brother said she would hardly go in there but if i don't let her in she will keep scratching the door until i open it and she has to get under the blankets with me if not she "cries". She follows me everywhere and if i sit down she will be right next to me. If i could show you a picture right now of my dog it would be so funny.

Avatar f tn My dog is obsessed with my belly. He licks it all the time!! My hubby tried touching it once and our dog made a really weird noise and pushed him away. I think they can definitely sense there's something in our tummies!! I'm 26+2 with my first boy.
8110498 tn?1397344782 m prego with # 2 she has been acting out.... Potting in the house, tearing up trash, eating my food if I sit out down to go to restroom ect... Has anyone else had there animals act like this while they were prego? Idk what to do with my dog I luv her very much but I don't need the added stress.......
Avatar f tn i wanted opinions about my dog. I don't know I animals can tell UR pregnant but my dog just follows me all ova my house. I'm mean more than usual since I've been pregnant. I'm 15w 3d i mean its to the point where I almost trip on her. If I kick her out my room n close the door she will just lay right outside my door TIL I open it. If she's in my room she lays right nxt to my bed to where I gotta step ova her to get up. Sometimes I don't even know she's there.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have any animals that are glued to them?
Avatar f tn If I go to the bathroom atleast one has to be in there with me even when I shower. My chihuahua will sit and and look at me and just start crying and howling for no reason. And if I walk outside she freaks out and cries she has to literally be with me at all times. Could this mean labor soon? I just don't get why they are being so weird.
Avatar f tn i was just wondering if anyone knows if it's true or has experiencing with their animals sensing when labor was close? I have a husky and she's usually a spoiled brat, she doesn't like to cuddle and she don't lay be me. She stays at the end of the bed or on the floor but yesterday and today she has been laying by me and curling up right against me. Just wondering if maybe she knows it's coming?
Avatar n tn She wont eat, walk, My friend had to drag her out from under the house today, she will take her vitamins but thats the only thing that she has ate in about 2 days.. any help?
Avatar f tn I haven't posted here in a while, but I feel I'm not feeling any better. My anxiety and dizziness now with severe back pain, if you were to rate it from 1 to 10, I'm a 20. Family and friends including my husband leave me here to die in the house by myself. My cat can't even stand me, she goes and hides from me. NEED HELP!!!!!
Avatar m tn Protein in urine is 4+. Blood work shows kidneys are ok. High salt levels (eats Hills WD dog food). Only an occasional Chex for a treat. Trouble walking (back pain?) Loss of appetite. Only urinated once today and hard for him. Trying to avoid it. Back legs crossing at times (seizure?) Very upset & stressed. Does not want to go outside. Stays near walls/couch ect when walking. No longer jumps Seems to be hurting. Not sure what to do. Do not want him to suffer.
Avatar m tn Is this a dog or a cat? What is your animals clinical signs/why were you having blood work performed? The BUN and creatinine are both elevated and indicate some degree of kidney disease. The hematocrit is also very high..I can't make a definitive conclusion because there is no urine specific gravity (do you have one?).
Avatar f tn It sounds like a possible seizure. They can manifest in many different ways and it's not uncommon to see that head tilting behavior. It's also typical to that they need to sleep quite a while after having a seizure. Since he's had two episodes that you know of, it's definitely time to see your vet. Try not to panic. I know seeing a seizure of any kind is extremely scary, but epilepsy in dogs can usually be well-managed with medications.
11005797 tn?1414503110 Oliver could have had a mild seizure, or broken something. I always encourage people to take their animals to a certified vet if they have questions about a medical issue with their pets. My dogs and cat are family. I have been in the grooming business for over 25 years, and some questions need a medical answer. You won't find that on the net. Good luck!!!
Avatar f tn 2 hours later he had a seizure similar to the one in Feb. I called the vet, they said it could be cramps since she gave him the med with just alittle food. She didn't give him anymore doses and he was fine through the week. I took our dog to the vet that Thur to see if he should be on something regularly for his hips and was told to give him the Previcox daily. On Fri. I gave him 1 dose, all seemed well. On Sat. gave 2nd dose.
Avatar m tn The best plan for now may be to shut the Morki in the bathroom whenever this happens again until the whole seizure is over and your other dog has recovered. Just shut her in in a kind but firm way, tell her to 'stay' and 'wait' with a gentle and steady voice. And don't let her out until you are sure the crisis has passed. I presume the vet knows about these seizures? Has any medication been prescribed so far?
Avatar m tn Am i at risk of another seizure?
