Common Questions and Answers about Seizure guidelines

seizure

Avatar f tn If this is the first time, have her checked by your doctor for proper management. Here are some general guidelines that we need to know when another seizure occurs: stay calm and don't move her to another place. Don't try to keep her from moving or shaking and don't try to wake her by shouting at or shaking. Take away items that could cause injury and gently turn her to her side so any fluid in the mouth can safely come out.
Avatar m tn adam - while I know this is scary for you, try not to get ahead of yourself. I drank regularly and heavily for several years, and now I am facing medical issues likely resulting from it. My point is that you don't want to be where I am. I know you are young and your buddies likely drink a good bit too, but your health really is most important. Yes, heavy drinking damages the liver.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your help, I'll check out the website. And thank you also for your kind words! :) I don't know too much about mexiletine other than the recommended dose of 600 to 1,000mg, preferably the higher dose, for my pain. I'm only starting (currently 200mg,) so I have a way to go, but no side effects so far. I am very sensitive, and have tried all kinds of meds, with a lot of bad side effects, so I'm glad no probs so far.
Avatar f tn There are many people on Thyroid Chat that say that the ACCE guidelines that state subclinical would be TSH over 10 with normal t/3 t/4 or TSH 5-10 with normal t/3 t/4 and goiter or antibody are outdated and todays guidelines say that TSH should be at 1 or at least below 3 EVEN with normal t/3 t/4.
Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.
Avatar n tn In addition to active therapy you have to follow lifestyle modifications to prevent recurrence of ulcers. To reduce acid levels try good life style measures. Some guidelines are eat frequent small meals- 5 to 6, instead of 3 large meals. Avoid oily and spicy food. In general, avoid all fatty foods. Cessation of smoking helps to heal ulcer. Avoid consumption of alcohol. Take the last meal of the day early and let there be a time gap between the last meal and bedtime.

1516809 tn?1345082764 Three days later, on Wednesday, 11/24/10, I was informed by the Hospital Care Manager for his floor of bad news. They could not keep my father because under Medicare Guidelines, he was not being acutely treated but categorized under Observation status. I told her that he had received new meds, that he had extreme difficulty walking but while she understood under Medicare guidelines since they were not treating him with an IV or other acute treatment, he had to be discharged.
Avatar f tn I know quite a bit about butalbital withdrawal. I know it's dangerous to stop cold turkey due to the seizure risk. You've been off for 8 days so you may be beyond a risk now. Rebound headache is a major symptom, along with anxiety. That's why I asked you about Xanax. That would help the anxiety and cover any risk of seizure.
Avatar m tn my parents had been to the vet and when I got home I sat with him while he suffered 4 more seizures I decided that I could not see him suffer and we went to vet and tio got the jag to sleep as u can imagine has been upsetting. my question is I found out when he took the first seizure When I was home with himhe struggled to do a poo outside and it looked strange.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar m tn It does still fit the description of a seizure. Not all seizures involve paddling, slobbering and loss of bladder control. Those are basically what are considered to be grand mal seizures. Petite mal seizures can be anything from a twitching of the head to a state of catatonia for a brief time, which sounds more or less like what your girl had. Please let us know what the vet says when you do get to take her in. Good luck to you!

Avatar f tn Hello. You have done a good job by bringing this to the forum. There is a possibility of a partial seizure. But you should also consider something called as eye tics. These are not so uncommon in infants. You may need to get an EEG done. A video EEG is preferred. It has the advantage of letting us see the brain waves during such an episode or up rolling of eyes. Did he have any significant birth complications?
Avatar m tn my stepdad has been recently diagnosed with a seizure disorder. He feels more sick on the medication than he did beforehand. Hes constantly throwing up from being so nauseous , he explains what he says his limbs are gonna explode, he also gets pounding headaches. He is on 1500mg 2x daily. Anyone else experience anything like this??
Avatar f tn when i FINALLY got an after hours vet on the phone the advise was that it was probably a seizure and to give her 1/4 of a motrin. does this sound correct and what would cause a seizure in a perfectly healthy dog ?
Avatar n tn A few minutes later he was throwing up. Then got really tired afterwards. He does have a seizure disorder. And is taking medication 2 times a day. Why did this happen? Im scared and don't really know what to do. Was it the weed that made him do this, or the medication he's taking? I don't want him to do it again but I'm afraid he'll want to and that one of these times he's not gonna gain consciousness....
