I had Epilepsy diagnosed and my first seizure at age 30 - my social life improved. I cared more about what my life and work was doing to me. My guess is that any beer or alcohol is hirting your son. Hi my recently 9 year old Border Terrier had his first seizures 2 days ago. He was completely fine before hand and then on the night of the 3rd he had 4 seizures about an hour apart from each. I took him to the vet first thing in the morning and he put him on diazepam 10mg twice a day, and a 5 mg dose of a digestion aid, (I think for him to not experience too much stomach upset on the meds).
I am 51 and am very frightened as last week I suffered my first ever seizure. It lasted about 30 seconds and I was just apparently staring glassily at my husband after shaking. I have been told I won't be able to drive for a year. My CT scan was clear though.
I'm asthmatic as well, and at the time of seizure had been in intense pain from a urinary tract infection.
first if you didn't you should have taken her to the hospital right away or called 911.So they could have seen what was going on with her.
also you should be talking to her doctors about sending her for test,blood work up,neurologist and anyone else they would ask that you would take her.
it if very scary to see your little ones or even anyone go threw what you have seen and seizures.
get on the phone with her regular doctor right away and don't take know from anyone.
I was motivated to post this question because I have just recently completed my Standard First Aid and CPR training. There, we learned about seizures, and I had never really thought about having one until now.
My problem is that this happened about eight or nine years ago. I was about nine years old, and I had stayed up late on New Years. I was perfectly fine one minute, but the next, I had blacked out, lost my vision, and felt really, really hot.

If possible, note the time that the seizure began, and how long it lasts. If it is the child’s first convulsive seizure, or if it lasts more than five minutes, call 911 or emergency services. Pay attention to the nature and the length of the seizure so you can give an accurate report.

You may not even read this comment since it has been 2 years since you posted but I had my first seizure at the age of 52 (late last year) It was diagnosed as a complex partial seizure. I lost conciesness 2 time within a minute. I was unable to speak or see and although I could hear my wife yelling to me, she seemed far away. I came out of it and went into hyperventalation. I was wrung out when it was over. I slept half the time for the next 3 days.
Our 4 year old Aussie just had a first seizure this morning. I have dealt with seizures before in another dog, but the aftermath of this is very different and hard. The jerking and then the stiffness lasted about 5 minutes or so, but when he started to come out of it and relax, he jumped up and started barking fiercely at us like he didn't know us. m super scared because I know they ask for all bank accounts. I have my school financial aid account which I have 0 money on, and then I have my wells Fargo checking account which I do have a big chunk there. Mostly savings, over 2,000. My friend is advising me to just not report that account because they will deny me, even though I'm unemployed. I feel super uncomfortable doing that...What should I do?
I have been having a seizure like problem. It only happens when I walk or run. I had it once in a while in high school, never got it checked out. But it has gotten worse after the 4th of july 2010. I suffered heat exhaustion was rushed to the ER by ambulance, took me over three weeks to recover from that. But since then my seizure like problems have happened more and more. I haven't the seizure thing since about 9th grade, I have been out of school for over 5years now.

i have just come back from my duke of Edinburgh gold expedition ( 4 days of hard core walking up mountains!) and i am honestly quite scared.
I've been fainting A LOT recently, and getting headaches too. i've had hypoglycemia for a few years now, but i know how to manage it, and know what to do when my hands start shaking - and it's never been worse than fainting and feeling awful.
t have specifics on doses -- same problem -- still too many rat researchers and not enough clinical guidelines, however this first reference, if your doctor has access to Springer, might help.
I've provided other studies that are related, even if only remotely.
Incidentally, I'm about to try Lamotrigine myself. Don't know if you've had any experience with this medication.

adam - while I know this is scary for you, try not to get ahead of yourself. I drank regularly and heavily for several years, and now I am facing medical issues likely resulting from it. My point is that you don't want to be where I am. I know you are young and your buddies likely drink a good bit too, but your health really is most important.

This is my second attempt to post. The first attempt is nowhere to be found. Two weeks after double mastectomy and reconstruction with expanders, I have developed terrible hyper sensitive skin under arms and chest. Clothes are unbearable. The doctors make light of it, saying it "shound go away." When? I was never warned about this. It is debillating. Is this a normal reaction to cut nerves, and how long will it take to subside? Someone recommened Gabapentin.
