Avatar n tn Then a mild fever, but after a visit with the chiropractor, the fever ended after 30 hours. And now we have been fever and seizure free for 5 months! My son is himself again. He only goes to see the chiropractor once a month just to check up and they never adjust him unless there is a need. He loves to visit "Dr. Dave" and we have been so encouraged! If anyone has questions please let me know. I hope this brings encouragment!
Avatar m tn Our youngest daughter, who will be 8 in March, had a seizure induced by a fever in early November. The seizure lasted about a minute or less and she was convulsing and lost consciousness. I was shocked and scared because she had not had a febrile seizure since shortly before her third birthday. The only other seizure she had was at 15 months, and again, was a febrile seizure.
Avatar n tn Hi a Pitbull pup 9 months old we saved last weekend, who was covered in ticks, possibly with tick fever, was put on Doxydog, yesterday he started getting seizures, no matter what medication, no matter what the vet did, it got worse and worse, this morning 4 times in half an hour, we just put him out of his misery.
20292254 tn?1494362008 s always having this kind of seizure after her fever went away. She seizes without a fever. After that, we went to her pediatrician and she referred me to a pediatric neurologist. We're having an appointment at Friday, 8 am. I hope that everything's fine and she just seized because of fever. November 1, 2016, my child had her first seizure. Doctor said to tilt her head and body during the seizure and fan her. What should I do if she is having a seizure again?
Avatar f tn In children fever can trigger a nonepileptic seizure. Before an age of 2 yrs. high fevers or temporary metabolic abnormalities, such as abnormal blood levels of sugar (glucose), calcium, magnesium, vitamin B6, or sodium, can trigger seizures. Seizures do not occur once the fever or abnormality resolves. If the EEG was done during a seizure it would show an increased electrical activity in brain . You can wait till the neurologist consultation.
1573842 tn?1295908570 Recurrent or chronic fever is seen in tuberculosis, SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, and other auto immune disorders, UTI, drug fever, sinusitis, glandular fever, otitis media, IBS, endocarditis, parasitic infestations, fungal infections, lymphomas and other cancers etc. It can even be diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Discuss with your son’s pediatrician. Take care!

Avatar m tn My son is 3yrs he will be 4 in June, perfectly normal little boy with normal development, no seizure history in both sides of the family. His 1st seizure was feb 17, 2011 lasted about a minute, the night before he had a high fever and later that same day also. Both fevers were treated. On the first episode he spent the night at the hospital for observation because when they took his temperature in the emergency room it was actually low 96F.
Avatar n tn My son had a fever seizure on the 20th his temp went from normal to 103.9 in 20 minutes. all blood test at hospital were neg. 3 days later he broke out in hives all over his body with a fever of 103. Dr. gave him benidrl . his fever rises everyday to over 103 if i dont give him tylenol and motrin. still having a fever 5 days later he now as pneumonia. this mornig he had a fever again when he woke and the hives on his body were huge.
Avatar f tn If she has more than two seizures in 24 hours with fever she should be evaluated by a neurologist. That makes its a complex seizure vs a simple one.
Avatar m tn I don't think people who have a seizure remember the seizure, but he definitely had something. Maybe it's a thyroid problem. He needs to be seen, but an ER is the slowest, most expensive and least efficient way to do it.
Avatar n tn 4 hrs later no fever so no Tylenol (what I was told to do when I questioned doing the Tylenol / Motrin regime every 3-4 hrs for 24 hrs). Within an hour after that she spiked a fever and had a seizure. This one was the longest but still relatively short at about 20 seconds. Called the dr and ran her there immediately. Did blood work and urinalysis and said she had a viral infection and febrile seizure (temp was still 103 after being cooled down).
Avatar f tn could the child have also had a fever at all if so it could have been caused by the fever which would be classed as a febrile convulsion
Avatar f tn Just remember also to push as much fluids as possible when your lil one has a fever too! That helps lower the possibility of a seizure.
Avatar n tn Alot will depend on whether or not your son had a fever at the time of the seizure, as high temperatures will also cause vomiting and seizures. my daugher never vomited with her seizures. so theres a chance your sons was more a febril convulsion caused by the fever and could be just a once off thing.
Avatar n tn A low activity EEG means a dormant seizure activity going on in the brain. The brain does not have a seizure, but is prone to seizure if favorable conditions are present, like high fever, sleep deprivation, etc. It will be a good idea to consider medicines, after the MRI.
Avatar n tn I made an appt. for yesterday afternoon and her fever broke an hour or two before we went in. We went anyway because i wanted to see if we had or were dealing with the flu virus. It was not but my dr. decided to get blood and check her whitel blood cell count. The nurse did the finger ***** method and squeezed for a long time to get enough blood. As soon as she finished my daughter said she was dizzy, then her body slumped to her left side and she had a minor seizure.
Avatar f tn My son is born at 32 weeks had subependymal hemorrhage diagnosed at 4weeks, in NICU for 4 weeks, did well after and never had seizure in the past. Recently had high grade fever 39.8C for 48h, given regular Tylenol which reduces the fever. Last fever was at 5pm and have not recurred since. There’s no specific source for the fever, such as cough, rhinorrhea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Ears look normal.
Avatar f tn We rushed her to emergency, but it took about ten minutes to get there and another ten for them to treat her symptoms before she stopped. She did not have a fever. She was given ativan and dilantin intravenously at this time. A CT scan returned negative. The next morning she was given 150 mg of dilantin and walked like a drunken sailor for the rest of the day (she weighs 20kg). We are waiting for an EEG and, in the meantime she has been prescribed phenobarbitol. This worries me.
Avatar f tn My just turned one year old had a fever seizure last night which freaked out.It doesn't run in me or my husband's families. His eyes rolled back, his teeth were clenched, and he was gasping for air.I thought he had swallowed something,so I started hitting him in the back.

Avatar f tn Note there is a difference between the cause of a seizure and a trigger. Seizures can be caused by head injury (at any time in your life), diabetes side effects, a high fever as a child or a virus/bacterium like meningitis. Triggers are things like alcohol drinks, flashing lights (like driving a car through shade/shadow or watching window blinds flickering the light from a breeze, or for some people anything raising the adrenaline level. In women, PMS is usually a trigger.
Avatar n tn What does one do if your infant has a seizure? I'd like to do something? But, all i'm doing now is comforting him and waiting til he stops.
Avatar f tn I think he had a reaction to too much caffiene and that made him hypersensitive maybe and he had a panic like attack. If he was aware of what he was doing the whole time I don't think it was a seizure. It is great you checked for fever too. Has he been more stressed lately? I get the same thing but I have migraines too and they seem to be connected. The doctors don't think mine are seizures either.
